Rex did his best to make the sterile, standard issued quarters comfortable. A desk and chair positioned by the window. On the wall to the right of the widow hung a likeness of the Ahsoka Tano clone helmet. The orange of the drawing contrasted with the blue gray durasteel wall behind it-a reminder of days long passed. He wondered where the general was at this very moment. A chuckle escaped his lips unbidden. She hated being called the general. Especially after leaving the order. He should just call her Snips. But no. That name brought more pain than joy. Even more pain than when he looked at the picture on his desk. Rex sat down and picked the picture up. Fives’ helmeted image looked back at him, the red triangle and blue shape adorning the crest of the helmet like a crown. Fives deserves a crown, Rex thought. Because of him, I survived Order 66. Without his sacrifice, so much more would have been lost. Rex reached out to the image and touched it. “You were right Fives. You were more than just a number.” Standing up, Rex took the picture in his hands. He walked to the other side of the widow and hung it up, its magnetic panels securing to the wall with a sharp clamping sound. “I used to believe that being a good soldier meant doing everything they told you,” Rex said to Fives’ picture. “I now know more than ever that you have to learn to make your own decisions.” Rex stepped away from the picture and gazed out the widow, the bright blinking stars gazing back. “Thank you, Fives.” *Thanks again for the positive response to this vignette! Am I wrong in saying that there's a small part in all of us that wishes The Clone Wars hadn't just been a catalyst for Palpatine's rise to power, and that all the Clone Troopers had a real purpose in life, other than being his pawns?

How does a single tv show make me cry, depressed and happy at the same time? I don’t know. But I love it.

Fives' helmet in the background brought tears to my eyes. Not the first I've cried because of that man and it sure as hell won't be the last.

I’m rewatching the Clone Wars, and seeing the mutual trust between Rex and Anakin, and I have to say, knowing what happens is just so depressing.

Bro this legit brought back memories of little ol me running to watch the clone wars.. all the from the very first season to when it ended at season 6... shit made my tear up man.. I miss the old days... didnt have to worry about politics and a virus or possible war.. I just lived my life and had fun...

I love the idea that, on his own personal free time, away from the war and his troopers... the few moments when he could make choices to define who he was for himself and be alone... Clone Trooper Rex drew. Simple and beautiful.

I was never one of those people who was obsessed with the clones, but the bravery and friendship they always displayed was heartwarming. They were designed as killing machines, but they were a lot more than that.

Many B1 Battle Droids, Many B2 SBDs, A few Droidiekas, A few Droidieka snipers, a Battle Droid Commander or two, or three, or four, or five, Krell's 4 alt accounts, the Nemoidians, the Banking clan, Darth Vader, Palpatine, That one imperial officer in Rebels, An AT-AT, and a handful of stormtroopers disliked this video.
