Always find it funny that Rex is referred to as gramps and old man, when in fact he's younger than Kanan and Ahsoka!

@@shugaroony Since Rex is one of the first batch of clones, they were commissioned about 10 years prior to the start of the clone wars. Ezra is about 15, born on Empire day (about same age as Luke/Leia). Chronologically, Rex is at most is 30, although with advanced aging closer to 50-60 depending on whether rapid aging stopped at maturity.
@Wilahelm2

The Clones really are some of the most interesting characters in the whole franchise. Their lives are really nothing but non-stop tragedy and hardships. At this point the accelerated ageing is starting to catch up with them as the clone are only around 28-29 years old but are biologically around their mid to late 50's. Still their in good shape for guys their age but it makes you realize that by the time the Empire falls they will be into their 70's. As hard as it is to watch Kanan be angry to the clones it's understandable considering what he went through. The details of how Kanan survived Order 66 and his life just after it are actually covered in the Kanan comic. It really shows how much the clones betrayal hurt him. When some one you trust betrays you in such a brutal way it's hard to let it go, even knowing why it happened. Palpatine may have given the order but it was the clones that pulled the trigger and no matter what the reason behind it that is something the clones and any surviving Jedi will have to deal with.

Hi! Your "Twilight of the Apprentice" video popped up in my recommended and now I'm going back and watching your other ones, and they're great! I do love that you hit the nail on the head when you pointed out that Hera must have been on Ryloth, and also noticed that she didn't have the Twi'lek accent. Can't wait to keep watching!

Kanan, Rex, and Wolff are all deeply traumatized people at different places in processing. For Wolff, Kanan really does represent the ultimate betrayal of the clones and the destruction of all that he knew, and Rex has to cut through the fog to remind him that the experience he remembers is not the reality. Rex and Wolff represent exactly the same thing for Kanan. Yeah, it sucks to see them have so much friction when we know they're all on the same side, but I LOVE THAT. I am so glad that these characters have scars, and fears, and unprocessed trauma, and they don't just handwave it away. These are people who are hurt, deeply, and they can't always observe the situation outside of that hurt, even though we know they need to.

Rex, Wolffe, and Gregor actually aged really well for being clones in this new canon. No complaints here though.

So RU-vid randomly dropped your Siege of Lothal reaction in my feed a few days ago... and after a serious bing I was more excited to see this pop up than any reaction vid for a long, long time. Can't wait to watch along (for the mumble mumble time), already have mental pins in certain episodes.... A quick thought on Rex (and I'm assuming you've seen Clone Wars S7 here so if anyone hasn't SPOILERS!): he'd *have* to go into hiding post order 66 to protect Ahsoka. If he's found the Empire would have some awkward questions that he probably couldn't avoid answering forever and the *moment* Sidious knows Ahsoka's alive every ship in the fleet would be going after her (if only because one does not send a lone Star Destroyer to take out Ahsoka Tano. Not unless you really want to see your insurance premiums on the rest of the fleet go up). On a related note... kinda wish we could have seen Vader deliver THAT bombshell to Palps. In my head it plays out *exactly* like the Robot Chicken version of the characters. "Wait... whadda you mean your apprentice is alive? You told me she got squashed under a cruiser on that ice moon!" "Well, uh, I found her lightsaber..." "Oh great, you found her lightsaber. The Jedi who famously carries TWO laser swords so finding one of them automatically means she's dead. Anything else you neglected to mention? She's still a Jedi, right? I mean, could you imagine what'd happen if she had been kicked out of the order and didn't have that moral code thing?" "Uh... yeah! Yeah that'd... that'd be bad. I've gotta go... oil change."
@jessedubois1172
@jessedubois1172 3 года назад
I totally understand why he'd have to go in hiding (he does have a pretty recognizable face). I think I just loved the idea that him and Ahsoka had been causing trouble for the empire together over the years. Also man Vader must have had some awkward conversations with Emperor Palps over the years. Between this and kinda killing Obi-wan only for him to return as a powerful space ghost and letting his son escape because he threw himself into a unending pit while Vader was monologuing, there's some interesting situations Vader has to explain.

Kanan (Caleb) in the comics was very close to two clones - I forget their names - but they killed Depa and came after him with a vengeance like they hated him the whole time. Q: Do you know which SW:CW episode had “Plo’s Bros” on the gunship? I want to see that myself because that’s pretty cool.

Rex is the best. Love the bad batch and Omega too, and can’t wait to see Cody in Bad Batch season 2, but grew up with Rex and especially Ahsoka in clone wars, and his connection to Anakin, Ahsoka, and domino squad… can’t wait for Temeura Morrison to play him in “Ahsoka”, though I think his journey… nears it’s end, either in Ahsoka, how many season they do, or if they do a mandoverse crossover movie or triology, where Ahsoka will probably meet her end too, she’d be too old for the sequal trilogy.

You know, revisting these episodes, having only recently watched TCW, does give me an appreciation for them but I have to admit this was one of my least favorite arcs in the series. I wish I liked these episodes more but this arc was pretty boring to me without prior knowledge of the clones. It's one of the few times Rebels missed the mark, at least for me, in integrating Clone Wars characters. I had no clue who Ahsoka Tano was when she came down that ladder in the season 1 finale yet she very quickly became my favorite recurring character. This is because they didn't rely on you liking/knowing the character from the onset. They used her past to the show's advantage whether you knew what that was or not. If you were a CW fan then great, you could see her unfinished story continued but if you weren't, you got to enjoy watching the mystery of Ahsoka unravel. In a nutshell it worked because it felt just as natural to people who didn't know the character as those who did. Now that I've seen CW, of course I love Rex and can appreciate his (and Wolffe and Gregor's) debut in Rebels but without that bias I'm given little reason to like these characters. Honestly, quite the opposite, one of them betrayed the cast I actually care about, another essentially tricked Zeb, and even Rex, who was certainly the best of the three, didn't say anything against Zeb being used as bait. Like... he could have been killed! On the other hand, I suppose you could argue that those who didn't know the history behind the clones would see things more from Kanan's point of view. If that was intentional then that's actually really interesting but unfortunately it doesn't delve deeply enough into that to have that effect when I watched it. Sorry to be so critical, there are still moments I really like in these two episodes, the conflict Kanan has with the clones was great! But for me it was bogged down by other things.
