I will never forget this mission because the first time I played it, I got killed flying to the command deck, and finished the mission like in the movie.
+monkeyfarmer1138 Ackbar's fish sticks from the sea, They cook so tender and flaky! Whip some up for you and me, to pass on them is a big mistakey! "Big mistakey?"
I was going to say I wish they'd make a new rogue squadron but then I them I remembered Factor 5 doesn't exist anymore and even if someone did make a new one, it would probably be totally focused on multiplayer, not have a singleplayer campaign, and would release hundreds of dollars of dlc
A new game with graphics and gameplay to be competitive with other current gen titles would probably also need the dlc in order to make a profit because of the huge expenses in development... But hey even if it was made dirt cheep gamers would still be quite bitchy.... "I have to reimburse you for the game you spent time and money to make for me?? Fuck you!!"
+The Cinema Cowboy thing is games don't need all the DLC to make a profit as long as they sell well(which Battlefront did and was a sure hit) adding a 50bucks season pass on top of the 60buck game was not smart esp when the game is like half of a game.
Did anyone ever use the Slave 1, hold Z, and spin while spamming all 20 of your seismic charges to create an absolute nuke of destruction? Please tell me 'im not the only one.
The first in a line of Executor-class Star Dreadnoughts, the ship is over 19,000 m (62,000 ft) in length, propelled by thirteen colossal engines and a Class 1 hyper drive. It had a crew of Enlisted (27,850), Officers (9,235), Storm troopers (9,700) equals 46,785. Image the entire city being destroyed when it slammed into the Death Star II. The reaction on Akbar's face told of how he felt with so many lives lost.
RIP to the A-Wing pilot who went beyond call of duty on the super star destroyer and took it down with him. Also, whoever he is, he is a legend now that he took care of that thing.
Obi-Wan Kenobi, Well, to be fair, these games were Nintendo exclusives. But the fact that the original studio no longer exists and that EA now has the rights of the Star Wars games. ...Yeah, not going to happen.
Cuz the game modeled them incorrectly, you can tell those emplacements were firing ion cannon blasts by the projectile shape and color. It was incorrect in Rogue Squadron 2 as well. They also modeled the bulge underneath as a shield generator when it reality that's the reactor core.
The kamikaze didn't count. Considering it was not an optional objective, it'd be unfair for the game to count it. You'd never be able to have a perfect record on every mission.
+Jack Timson I know that's darkly humorous, but one fanfic I've read lately had him turn out to be quite a good guy. It even gave him a family, whose eldest daughter Luke falls in love with haha. He and every other officer were merely taking orders, as any good ones would. Yeah, Vader was harsh in his disciplinary techniques, but clearly, the Imperial military was based on those from centuries ago, where harsh physical punishment was the norm. They also knew that Vader wasn't their true boss. The Emperor was. Follow Vader's orders, and not only do you not get punished, but your career progresses, with an excellent commander in Vader to lead you. On the other hand, God knows how many of the officers and soldiers were forced to work for the Empire. Had they known the tragic and horrific story behind their commander Vader's life, I'd bet many, if not most, would mutiny, as the entire crew of the Executor did in the one I mentioned. I didn't create this idea myself, TBH. I read it in the same fanfic fanfic. But I think it's a very viable possibility. Sidious was the embodiment of pure evil, who in reality cared about nobody but himself. The Imperial military had no idea, though, and with many of them coerced to work for him, as well as them not being aware that Anakin and Vader were one in the same, nobody was the wiser in an Empire built on blood and lies. Here is that fanfic: www.fanfiction.net/s/3330288/1/My-Daughter It's 90 chapters long, but it's AMAZING.
Sean Brower It's shockingly easy to recruit normal people for evil causes though. History teaches us that. We also know most soldiers aren't that interested in the bigger scheme of things, they just want to survive (take the example of soldiers of opposing sides coming together during Christmas in the trenches).
I actually played this level and got shot down and hit the Executor’s bridge before the cutscene... and still got a gold medal. I did that once and could never recreate it.
You can tell Factor 5 perfectly understood these space battles when they made an entire mission just for the kamikaze A-Wing pilot and made damn sure to keep the kamikaze ending.
Probably the only mission in this game that I actually enjoyed. It felt like it could have fit in pretty well in the original Rogue Squadron. Everything else somehow felt..lazy when you were in the air.
The back end of the Hoth mission where there hundreds of TIE's was intense. The others were pretty mediocre. Geonosis was pretty decent too if I remember correctly.
Andrew anon Yeah it's basically both. He started spinning because he got hit, but he still managed to steer it into the bridge. The scene isn't entirely clear in the movie as it doesn't show him getting hit first, and due to the way the pilot is screaming and kinda has his eyes closed it doesn't look as if he is in control.
The Super Star Destroyer is a pretty incompetent ship design. Build a starship that's basically a small country but have the whole thing protected by a highly conspicuous and extremely vulnerable weak point. My theory is that the average IQ of sentient life forms in the Star Wars galaxy is about 80.
The ship was incorrectly placed instead of the Home One, the Liberty was blown by the Death Star laser, this mission take places when Lando and Wedge is on the Death Star heading to the core.
I wonder why they used the Liberty Model instead of Home One. Plus.... I wish they gave that Huge capital size a LOT more guns instead of 5 lazes in the front.
I know this game is old and hell, I loved this back in day. However, now that I look at the Scale of the Models... lol they made MC80 liberty wayy too big( suppose to be smaller than the Star Destoryer) and also the Executor... lol that's a bit much isn't it.
How come the third SD wasn't destroyed outright at 3:16? Normally, in Rogue Squadron 2 and 3, you need to destroy all three shield generators as well as the bridge bay in order to destroy a Star Destroyer...
You play as Green Leader here, he sacrificed himself in the movie too by crashing into the Executor's bridge. You're basically playing the movie in this mission, lol.
Yes. Green Leader in the movie gets hit and loses control of his A-Wing, but manages to crash it into the bridge to take out the Executor. You *can* just shoot it, but you'll get the same cutscene anyway, so it's just faster to be movie accurate. Plus it's an awesome reward for paying attention to the movie.
this was after Lando & Wedge made their assault on the core, the Executor headed towards the death star to prevent any more fighters from advancing towards the Death Star II
***** there was an artificial gravity well holding the death star in place during construction when the A wing crashed into the executor they lost control of the ship and it fell into the gravity well which pulled it into the death star
