Yes I totally agree with you.. This tie fighter is on scale especially the wings. They look just about right, not too large like the vintage collection one. Although that one has a superior cockpit sculpt. If this tie fighter had the same cockpit interior as the vintage collection one, this would be the perfect tie fighter

I too am a collector with a TIE focus, and I totally agree with you and your points. This is the best TIE fighter 3.75 toy that we have ever gotten. It scales to both legacy and other vintage mold falcons, and the wings are durably set in place at the proper angle with rubber bushing and no wobble. The ForceLink is always a throw away, even as a price point, so it doesn't matter to mention it, yes. But the wings are a very nice size and shape. The original and rereleased TIES have wings for a 2 inch figure scale fighter. Even then, the wings always narrowed in steeply at the top and bottom. It made it easier to handle, but asthetically had a profound off-putting effect for such a minor inaccuracy. A common theme for TIEs. Fixed in the large-winged versions, the TIE would scale to nothing now. Worse off, the problem came back in the form of the wing thickness: Now the wings felt too large because they were asthetically thin, even though they were correct in scale. And this thickness could not be corrected because the wings heaviness were wobbling the vehicle enough as it is, which also made the wings seem oversized, itself. Playability demands that the wings are not scaled to accuracy, but are the exact correct shape and depth. The Solo Force Link TIE Fighter has the proper wing shape and size to look good and be manageable as a flight toy. It matches well with any 3.75 bomber, advanced, or interceptor you have, and is just as sturdy as they are despite its design shape and form. It may be the closest we get to the perfect TIE vehicle toy, it doesn't cost $80, and I am glad I got a whole fleet of them when they came out. I prefer mine without the missiles as it looks bigger that way, and would love to customize a few to expand the glass canopy or brighten up the color of one a tiny bit. 😊

You are so correct about the wing size. Accurate TIE wing scale is no good if the wings are still thin in appearance and too wobbly to handle. Good point about the strut length being too long on the prior versions as well. The reason this version looks so good is because the strut length is correct, the strut thickness has been added to, the wing size is sufficient, the wing thickness is increased due to the rubber casing, and the wing shape has been corrected to lengthen the top and bottom of the hexagon shape. The struts fixed structure and wings' rubber cases also makes it feel more sturdy than any TIE we've ever gotten.

Now that you say that I remember hearing it before but had totally forgot about it.

My guess is that the pilot's head would prevent the canopy from closing. He already has to sit on the floor for the canopy to close. If you take out the missile feature, then you may be able to cut a deeper floor to fit the chair in with the pilot, but that will take some work and you'd have no firing missiles.

I've been trying to figure out the best way to describe the wings. The black is a hard plastic. Not soft like some of the other vehicles have been. The grey around the rest of the wings are rubber...I'd say like a windshield wiper blade. Hopefully that helps

I picked mine up from HasbroToyShop.com and it has been in and out of stock on Amazon. I still haven’t seen it on a retail shelf myself yet.
