“This isn’t the first time you have proven to be clummsy... Lord Tyrannus” Sidious then proceeds to force choke Dooku from halfway across the galaxy, such a badass scene
If Palpatine is so powerful that he can choke people across the galaxy, why does he even need an apprentice or an army. He could literally eliminate every potential threat to him by just raising his hand. And Dooku is an experienced force user himself, but he had no chance to escape the choking, so this would apply to most Jedi too (maybe expect Yoda)
Out of all the people palpatine manipulated, Dooku is the most sad. Sideous told Dooku they would rule together after the war with Anakin as their subordinate, but it was the furthest from the truth.
Lucas he believed that it wasn’t necessary because sideous trained maul while he was an apprentice and dooku thought that they would corrupt Anakin and become an assassin like ventress
@@lmd499 Neither Dooku or Sidious actually cared about the rule of 2. They (specifically Sidious) thought it was an antiquated rule. They were already breaking the rule of 2 by training Ventress and when Sidious trained Maul.
@@verbalkint4258 Incorrect. Sidious cared very much about the rule of two; this is why he went to duel Maul & Savage toward the end of season 5. And Ventress was not a Sith and was never trained as a Sith; she was always referred to as an 'assassin'. Sidious even questioned Dooku on this in the middle of season 3 and told him he better not be training her as an apprentice.
@@DesireProspers he wasn’t loyal, or he wouldn’t have kept trying to train apprentices like Savage and Ventress. He was only trapped under his master’s immense power.
@@topdog5252 Dooku wasn’t a real Sith apprentice he was just an instrument used by Sidious Dooku reached his full potential in the rule of 2 the master picks and apprentice that would one day overthrow him
It's ironic, because Sidious was probably right: when training Savage Oppress, Dooku openly expressed his desire to kill Sidious and take his place, so he was probably training Ventress to do the same
@GrantKP Of course. It's to be expected that the Master would try to undermine the apprentice's attempts to assassinate him. It's to show to the apprentice that the Master has the upper hand in the relationship.
Well yeah I mean he's a Sith Lord it's what they do they always crave more and more power. Dooku would much rather rule the galaxy himself than be the right hand man of the guy who rules it.
@@purpleemerald5299 he was arguably Yoda’s equal despite living less than a 1/10 of his life 😂😂😂 Although Dooku was past his prime and was still clapping everyone’s cheeks throughout the clone wars lol
Sideous was apprently jealous of Dooku, because as Dooku’s power grew higher, Sideous had to grow his power too, because Dooku was slowly catching up to sideous
@@killrib01 I’m not sure where you saw that, but regardless dooku was definitely very powerful and had great potential, but sidious was unrivaled in the mentality of the Sith. Sidious was cunning, manipulative, intelligent, and wise in such a way nobody could rival him in the art of manipulation. He took down the entire Jedi order and republic by barely lifting up his blade or using the force. Sidious did it all with manipulation and mind games. Even if Dooku was able to eventually rival Palpatine in power, dooku was never dark enough to defeat sidious as dooku was never fully submitted to the dark side. Dooku only allied with the dark to achieve goals he felt in the end were noble, dooku never became a Sith for selfish power he wanted to change the republic and saw sidious as a means to do this. Palpatine in the other hand just wanted to rule and force all to submit to his power. Dooku would lose somehow against Palpatine whether through manipulation, raw power, or just plain wits; just like mace windu did despite arguably being more powerful
@@heltongomez8865 that’s the point of the Sith though. The master to hold power, the apprentice to crave it. The rule of two. It allows for the darkness to be focused between a few powerful individuals rather than many average ones. Master and apprentice of the Sith train more effectively like this since usually they are going to want all the power for themself or the other dead in the end, as is the way of the dark side. This cycle and abusive relationship causes both lords to grow stronger both mentally and physically by secretly working against one another, then due to the nature of the Sith only the strongest will survive since the apprentice will either take over after defeating the master or die trying. Due to this abusive relationship the apprentice will usually do whatever is necessary to take over whether it be defeating their master with strength or in many cases cunning. If the master loses to their apprentice, then they simply aren’t worthy to rule any longer. This is allows only for the most powerful Sith to rule. Not saying it’s a morally good philosophy, but it worked for them and their goals I guess. Dooku was never fully committed to the dark side and had his own arguably noble reasons for becoming a Sith, so he still had some heart unlike sidious who was basically the dark side incarnate
Its a bit naive to think that his action werent controlled by an immense amount of egoism. Dooku is portrayed in the novel of revenge of the sith as a narcissistic tyrant, hence his sith name darth tyrannus.
All part of the process. If dooku was worthy enough to become the master, he would've faked her death and begun actually training her to overthrow sidious. The fact that he didn't and submitted with limited resistance shows his weakness.
I mean the master is supposed to do all he/she can to keep their power, the apprentice must overcome the odds to prove they are worthy of taking it. If dooku was truly destined to be lord of the Sith, he would have faked ventress’ death or something to keep his plan to overthrow Palpatine intact. The apprentice must dominate and defeat their master to become the one true lord. The master has to fight back, both mentally and physically, to keep their power and inadvertently ensure their apprentice is truly worthy of taking the throne. Dooku, however, submitted here because 1) he wasn’t really a Sith for selfish reasons since he wanted to stop corruption by gaining power and 2) he was insanely afraid of sidious. Dooku was never the type to become a true Sith Lord to overthrow sidious, he never fully submitted to the dark
in banes eyes sidious himself is not a true dark lord he killed his master in his sleep bane disowned zannah when he thought she was too afraid to face him in open combat
Dooku deserves more credit because he literally made everything possible... He was a critical part of the plan and yes, he was a Sith Lord, it's just that he was one the best channellers ever so he never consumed himself by anger, he used the dark side to his advantage instead. Thanks to him literally the Sith master plan could be accomplished. he just was overshadowed by Sidious in the end... I believe Dooku was a great Sith, had he went on his own i think he could've gotten so much more powerful because Sidious always limits his apprentices
Also as a Sith master your always gonna try to make sure your apprentice never surpasses you. If you are able to kill your master no matter what he throws at you That's how you become a Sith master.
"And you believe this to be indicative of our programming?" "It is pertinent we ascertain if this is an isolated event." This is some seriously advanced dialogue for a cartoon I used to watch on Sunday mornings in my pajamas. I love this show.
You forgot about that scene where dooku talks with Sidious on that platform "The banks will now be placed under the control of the supreme, Chancellor (evil laugh)" That was my favorite moment in that arc
@@MsAmber82It was perceived from the start that the Chancellor was the traitor. His charisma, expressions delivered that. TCW wasn't meant to be an adventure of surprises, but to give more insight of the war.
Darth sidious really doesn’t care for any of his apprentices or his allies he only cares about himself and getting what he wants he’s so evil cunning and intimidating and he is the most evil Sith Lord
1:45 I know right especially when darth sidious is worried when someone becomes more powerful than him and is afraid to get overthrown and dooku tried to kill his master and didn’t want asajjj ventresss dead because he wanted her to assist him to kill palpatine
@@yokgor4675 no maul was his real apprentice. He didn’t know about anakin yet until plagues told him. When maul died that’s when he needed a replacement. It was unforeseen for palpatine but at least he got rid of qui gon
"This is not the first time you have proven to be clumsy, Lord Tyranus. You know the price of failure." Distance matters not where the Force is concerned. It was satisfying to see Dooku actually afraid and rattled for once, given how much of a smug and sanctimonious bastard he'd been up to that point.
Cant help feeling bad for dooku with the way he died as he had some good points about how the Republic was corrupt and the flaws of the jedi and he wanted change them for the better but he didn't know sidious was manipulating him 😢 the whole time and didn't care for his life, if you think about dooku is more misguided and more of an anti villain he's not a truly evil villain especially when compared to sidious, tarkin and vader or even maul or greivous I would also say he's the least evil out of the 3 prequel villains especially when compared to Greivous showing no mercy to any jedi he killed and mauls lust for killing anyone to get what he wants, sidious makes dooku look like a Saint especially the Canon dooku
1:38 The real reason he told Dooku to kill her was he knew Dookuu had fatherly feelings for her and was worried she could turn Dooku back to the light side, which would ruin his future plans.
Dooku is a seasoned Jedi Master and old enough to be Palpatine's father, yet he's not wise enough to see that working with a Sith Lord would end badly for him.
Sidious being engry is perhaps the most terrifying thing to experience, Dooku must have shit his pants while talking to him while so furious. The force choke was the pinnacle of all..
5:05 If Palpatine is so powerful that he can choke people from the other side of the galaxy, why does he even need and apprentice or a clone army? And Dooku is an experienced force user himself but had no chance to escape the choking. So Palpatine could literally eliminate every potential threat to him by just raising his hand.
Sidious's true power isn't in his abilities with the Force (although he is still the strongest Sith and potentially Force-Wielder in the galaxy). It's in his politics. He could eliminate every enemy of his by hand, like he did with Maul, but he needs to rally people by his side to support his galactic empire. He can't afford to only kill souls, he needs to win them too
@@darthdistortion1934 Funnily enough, there was a comic where Sidious literally had to tell Vader to stop executing imperial officers because “you can’t run an empire if there’s no one left in it.”
As powerful as he is, he’s one man, he needs Armies to enforce his Order He needs apprentices as enforcers and unwitting servants to carry his will Palpatine always wanted to rule, everyone and everything is merely a cog in his machine to rule everything Palpatine can only do so much on his own, and over time became even more powerful than he is now Also using the force is limited by imagination and current limit Palpatine can’t kill worlds on his own, that’s why he needs Death Stars, but he can do much no doubt Anyway he’s ruler that prefers to have servants do work for him, while he studies to become even more powerful His apprentices were never meant to replace him, simply serve him for life as long as he sees use in them, then cast aside for someone better
Sidious had 3 apprentices and 2 apprentices’ apprentices, and being fully aware of the danger an apprentice poses to their master, it isn’t until he’s pretty much ruled the entire galaxy for over 35 years that he finally gets killed by Vader. Palpatine was an absolute master of manipulation to stay alive as long as he did, as seen here with Dooku
5:08 I really like how Sidious says "Tyrannus" Obi-Wan and the pike leader put emphasis on the "Ty" and pronounces it "tierannus" while sidious says it much softer and pronounces the "ty" part almost with an accent.
Sidious was careful not to repeat his master's mistakes, such as not pushing the matter when he questioned Sidious about taking too much pride in his supposed Sith Assassin aka Maul
Dooku's reasons for trusting Sidious seem to be even more stupid than Anakin's. Somehow he believed that despite being twenty years older than his "master", a former Jedi master and being the slandered leader of a separatist movement he had the requirements to share power with Palapatine.
He never trusted palpatine except for having faith that palpatine wouldn't betray him quickly, he always knew that palpatine would betray him he just didn't expect to happen so soon at the time of rots. He has been waiting the entire time he was apprentice to palpatine in finding a way to betray him
Sidious craves power and power alone. When he Told Anakin to Kill Dooku I cant imagine how betrayed Dooku felt after everything he has done for Sidious. Sidious wants the most powerful being for himself.
So force choke requires sight of your target it would seem. That sight does not seem to require you to be in the same room as the target just be able to ascertain the physical coordinates to manipulate the force in the area.
@@jediclonekag13 I thought he was talking about the guy that was imprisoned by the pikes, the one Anakin and Obi Wan went to find to discover what Sifo Dias had said
@@eljordinio7647 That guy was Silman, personal aide of former Supreme Chancellor Valorum. He was loose end to what happened to Sifo-Dyas, not to Order 66. The last conversation between Dooku and Sidious in this video was about him and the latter ordering the former to eliminate it.
@@jediclonekag13 but didn't Sifo Dyas also know about Order 66, or at least what the inhibitor chips did? If Silman was also in on the information, it also makes sense for him to be the loose link that Sidious wanted eliminated. Plus he did tell Dooku to go to the pikes where Silman was being held prisoner Pretty sure the Jedi were still investigating Order 66 after Fives's death at the time
so goes the way if the sith the student must kill the teacher but. you must be strong enough to doo so. sidious feared that which is why he would replace his apprentices. and use them to his advantage. Plagueis only feared losing his power but not death itself
“The Deathwatch will be considered heroes” “I will be a hero just like you…BATMAN!!!” For the uninitiated, The voice actor for Count Dooku in the Clone Wars TV show (2008-2012, 2020) is Corey Burton who is also voice of the deuteragonistic antagonist and underrated Batman Villain Professor Hugo Strange in the Revered Game of its series Batman: Arkham City!
I love them both because they are so badass and cool villains, but I also hate them because they are unloyal, ruthless and bring so much suffer to the galaxy!
i believe dooku plans to defeat palpatine himself after find a good student. in my opinion dooku in his prime could beat sidious. in the comics of clone wars he tried to bring obi wan on his side.
There was either a book or comic (I don’t remember) where sidious was worried that Darth Plageius was going to kill him and replace him with dooku (who was still a Jedi at the time)
In Legends during the Phantom Menace Circa Dooku in raw power was more powerful then Sidious until Sidious retired Plagueis and got a power boost only then was Sidious equal in power to Jedi Master Dooku around the Phantom Menace era.
It would make more sense if Sidious was the older of the two of them with Dooku being the one who was twenty years younger but both able to make themselves look younger then they actually are yeah.
Because Sidious too powerful to be stopped Only hope is to strike him down off guard But at that moment Dooku had only one choice, to either betray Ventress or die, there’s no going around it. If Sidious called him out over Savage, as Dooku had intentions to train him to overthrow Sidious, it would have been the same Sidious is the Dark Lord of the Sith, he can’t be beaten once he’s riled Dooku had no choice, it was out of survival he had to betray Ventress with a heavy heart
@@christophersanchez7731 too bad. Would have loved to see Dooku as a Jedi on screen. Legends novel Dark Rendezvous and Canon audiobook Dooku Jedi Lost portray Dooku as a 3D and sympathetic character.
@@christophersanchez7731 wouldn't it have also made sense to just frame her death so Sidious would THINK she was dead and stop worrying about being overthrown? It isn't like Dooku would actually try to
The resentment against Palpatine for the Ventress órder was clearly real as he threw a lot of His loyalty to Sidious under the rug and merely obeyed him because he knew he needed a worthy new apprentice to have an actual chance at defeating him Turning Obi Wan or joining forces with Maul would have been a worthy shot,But Palpatine called His shots first and had the Count killed
To be fair, Dooku wasn't that faithful to Sidious, he would also try to take any opportunity to strike him down, like trying to recruit Obi Wan and Ventress, try to make Grievous a force sensitive and find ways to make an opportunity to kill him however in the end he decided to serve him
