+Logan Graham (ASiAN Specials) not as much korean as vietnam, in nam they were there firing then gone into the jungle, korea was more like huge ambushes and massive charges more military vs military just as bad though plus korea was more hilly and mountainous
Well after seeing brothers die over and over in the heat of battle. Living your life as a warrior. You start getting used to it. But it never leaves you.
Poor dude... This poor trooper's death can challenge the 212th trooper who got sliced by a security door... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-X_1kv4qjYPg.html
It's a bit saddening that the Battle of Umbara was the last major Clone Battle. We had the Battle of Christopsis, the Battle against the Malevolance, Battle of Ryloth, Battle of Geonosis and the Battle of Mon Cala. Siege of Mandalore would have been a perfect end.
The Rebellion isn't fully realized yet. After the destruction of the first Death Star and events leading up to it, large scale battles like this happened more often. Right now in Rebels all they do is strike then go into hiding.
I still cannot understand why they chose Empire VS Rebels in Battlefront ''EA''. Clone Wars was just a better era to set the game in. Both sides were just more compelling and unique, and that is what the Clone wars series shows.
The cool thing about the TCW was the factions, both sides have ups and downs, you can actually root for ether side. But in the imperial era, it seems like the empire is constantly evil, and the only people who support them (IRL) just do it because they are cooler, TCW had more depth, and political drama.
@@cisshadowfeed4946 I do think that's kinda the point overall. The Empire was the pet project of a selfish man who turned the entire galaxy on its head in order to gain absolute power over it. It's a reflection of his selfish, megolomanical will. There are those who see value in it, such as Thrawn, but men like him with honest belief in the empire are few and far between. It's basically a reflection of Nazi Germany if they won. Their party started as to bring order to the chaos of their nation, and that allowed a tyrant to rule over its misguided people. That, and Nazis are cool as villains: Their attire, their uniformity, their ruthelesness. Very cool villains indeed.
What's kind of awesome is that this is probably the first time I've seen the Republic actively invading an enemy world controlled by the CIS, not by control or domination, but by willing allegiance to the Separatists. I don't know why, but that fact makes this whole thing a bit more interesting, like it's a real war.
@@jackrutledgegoembel5896 yeah, it doesn't hurt that the whole thing is being orchestrated by one guy, making sure anytime one side is feeling a little bad about the war, some war hero/general/treasured city is wiped out to generate more hate and volunteers.
@@jackrutledgegoembel5896 I mean that's like saying the confederacy of the US just wanted to vibe, true but the Union can't just let that happen without a fight. If any system can just be independant whenever they want, then why even have a republic?
@@BanditoBurrito Except the confederacy werent exactly "vibing", compared with the Umbarans who were peacefully siding with the CIS, and not actively participating in the war..yet.
@@DrSabot-A exactly! the CIS, while manipulated by corporate interests (and the literal embodiment of evil lmao) did have a sympathetic undercurrent. those thousands of star systems defected because the Republic was a corrupt, crumbling nation that transparently existed only to funnel credits to the wealthy at everyone else's expense. many Separatists had good reasons for wanting out. meanwhile the Confederacy were a bunch of racist slavers who were mad that the president had made a commitment to maybe possibly think about making it slightly harder to be a racist slaver. they were a bunch of pisspants crybabies who rightfully got their teeth kicked in. you're right, they're not really a 1:1 comparison lmao, they really weren't just "vibing"
One thing i admire about Anakin unlike most of the other jedi general is that hes always on the frontline with his troops, a trait im grateful he still had in his early days as Darth vader
Here, I miss all the clones, Domino squad, and the second squad with Hardcase, Tup, Jesse, Kix. Still love how this show took the cannon fodder of the prequels and made such great characters out of them
Out of all the battles in the Star wars series, its the battles where there isn't any fancy or dramatic music that seem to make the most impact to me. If you want to see war, You have to hear it in its entirety.
This episode was one of my favorite in Star wars the Clone Wars. Lots of action, and really get to see all the deaths that take place in battles like this all across the galaxy.
Cutting the music as the firing begins was such a good move. The carnage and raw violence of the scene, as well as amazing visuals of explosions and laser fire illuminating the dark and foggy terrain, takes the forefront and highlights the intensity of the engagement. It feels less like a sci-fi battle and more like what an actual war is; chaos, screams, fighting, pure hell. And I think I commented this before, maybe on this video or another, but the fact that the clones are fighting MEN and not machines makes the fighting far more personal and ferocious. It just has a way different feel than when they're fighting the droids. The droids are rigid, static, emotionless. The Umbarans move fluidly and use much more sophisticated tactics, like relying on ambushes for maximum damage and their terrifying technology that aims at instilling as much fear into their opponents as it does carnage. And unlike droids they do have emotions. They have fear as well as fury and it definitely comes across, especially in the highway ambush scene later. The entire Umbara arc is probably my favorite collection of episodes for these and many, many more reasons. It was executed almost flawlessly and really showed just how awful and violent the clone wars really were, and the effects and issues it brought up among the clones.
I watched Clone Wars four times (I'm just starting it for the fifth time lol) but I watched the Umbaran episode a thousand times. For me, they will always be the best part of Clone Wars.
Keep in mind guys that this fight against the Umbarans that caused them so much trouble was only against a “local militia” Imagine what a coordinated attack by all the umbaran armies would look like...
On a literally galactic scale, a planetary armed force is a "local militia", relatively speaking. So what they told you was true...from a certain point of view.
Not a single Trooper followed any order given by Captain Rex! He kept saying "EVERYONE GET DOWN!" and "Don't go to far ahead!" All the Troopers then proceeded to charge way ahead and never even tried to take cover!
1st wave: Cavalry takes out their artillery, infantry mops up the rest. 2nd wave (or what it was supposed to have been): ARC units move in to probe the capital's defenses with the rest of the legion on standby.
0:24 I always love how many AT-RTs there are here, if one LAAT can carry one, how many LAATs are there in the sky? How many troopers were being ferried? I think that amount of AT-RTs was supposed to accurately represent how many clones were actually dropped into the zone, not the regular handful, speaks to the number of casualties they took but continue fighting.
You ever notice how the Republic has lost mass numbers of troops but yet still use the same invasion strategy? Like at Landing point Rain it started the exact same way. With an escort cruiser deploying gunships full of men into the heat of battle.
@@FayazKhan-bm1dm Looking at a Sarlaac Pit anatomy, it has the mouth and tentacles, and then the rest is a huge stomach, the stomach traps the victim in its walls using tentacles inside of it and digests which could take a long time, which is why Boba Fett had a long time and chance to escape
Imagine a Battle of Umbara in Battlefront II. You run to the forest for cover and floodlights of the final gunships pass over your head. Darkness creeps in as they fly away.
Man the clone getting eaten alive was one of the most uncomfortable parts to watch in this entire show, I can’t personally think of a worse way to go out...
Thank you so very much for posting this battle sequence, Ma'am Harleen! Fingers crossed for the Defense of Point Rain! I'm so grateful you keep posting in perfect 1080p. ^_^
Looking back it's clear that experiencing the horrors of war was part of the contribution to anakins fall. There are ofcourse much bigger factors, but that did affect him.
Still nothing on Jabiim though....such a shame it never made it to the big screen. Only ever appearing in the comics. There is a scene at the end that is basically a straight up Star Wars version of the Fail of Saigon. Complete with Anakin evacuating clones in an LAAT gunship while leaving Jabiimi republic loyalist to die to the hands of the Jabiimi nationalists (who were Sep aligned).
