I so hope Luke ends up with Leia, because it looks like that old space pirate Han is making the moves on Luke's girl. No way will she end up with him though. She and Luke will end up together and get married after they find out (SPOILERS!!) Han sold out to Vader and that is him wearing a similar mask to Vader in that white room after Vader transformed him in that machine he was lowered into. How much you wanna bet Han is a traitor? That is why Chewie looks sad and the Falcon does a "U Turn" after is shows Darth Vader. Luke and Leia forever!!

I can remember back in 1980 I was living in Los Angeles and we went to see a film, can't remember which one. I just remember that before the film started the preview trailers came on and we got our first glimpse of The Empire Strikes Back. The audience went wild when the trailer came on. I still think it was probably the best Star Wars film to come out.

When Luke says "I'm not afraid" and then it crosses to Darth Vader. I got chills. Like, well done my friend. The fact that this trailer is so well put together and you can get me excited to watch a movie that came out so long ago. How good is that. Well.. I'm going to watch it for 1000th time right now. This is really well done. And it worked - I watched ESB like right after watching this. I recommend this for anyone trying to convince someone to watch the originals. The Boba Fett hype gives that character some mystery. Showing the fake showdown at the very end is cool, while not revealing anything from the real showdown on Bespin. They should hire you for Episode 8's trailer.

this trailers so good i want to go watch empire Can you imagine seeing this in theater in those days? "Well that star wars movie was pretty awesome, hope they don't mess up the sequel..." And they didnt! I remember being maybe five or six in the early eighties and my uncle had a bootleg copy (somehow) of this on vhs and would put it on when i came over. He could have beaten me and would have still been the best uncle ever.

Modern trailers show waaaay too much. What used to be a trailer back then is now called teaser. Classy, mysterious and making everybody actually curious about a movie. Nowadays you already know half the story, the best scenes and even the surprises of a movie just by seeing the trailer. So sad. Thats why I dont even watch trailers anymore.

Almost does spoil when the emporer says the son of Skywalker must not become a jedi. Then later Vader says to Luke something about him not being a jedi yet. Glad they didn't show the moment when Vader is reaching his hand to Lefty near the end.

@@jwgtx5841 Nah, because in A New Hope - Ben tells luke that his father was a Jedi, tells him a young pupil named Darth Vader betrayed and murdered his father........ So that standpoint is still the same. From the trailer we just see The Emperor say the son of Skywalker.... to the viewer watching that trailer without seeing the film before hand, it says --- "The guy you killed way back ago, yeah, ,his son can't become a Jedi"

It’s a good cut.... but this movie would never have put Obi-Wan in a trailer as a force ghost. We had never seen a force ghost before until this movie, so at most they would have only teased his audio.

@David Ashley Very different. Obi Wan dying at the end of Episode 4 was a very big deal. We only had heard his voice after that. His appearance as a force ghost in Empire was very surprising to say the least at the time: They would have saved that reveal for the movie.

A week before EMPIRE came out, 20th let the cat out of the bag by publishing a picture of Yoda in the newspaper and labeled as such. Even up here in bumfuck Alaska. The second time 20th fucked up, it was by allowing a track from THE PHANTOM MENACE Soundtrack CD to be titled "Qui Gons Noble End". The cat was out of the bag......

For those of you who didn't see it in the theaters, I will tell you when Darth Vader told Luke he was his father, it was truly a shock and just made the movie, my mouth dropped open and I felt real a real emotional connection to a movie that hasn't been repeated. ...there was no internet back then, and no spoilers. The producers kept a tight lid on it.

Call me crazy, but the person or people who made this trailer have a talent. This was awesome. They breathed new life into a 30+ year old movie, and somehow managed to stay true to the film and the fact that it was a dark chapter in this saga.

Re-title it: "Empire Strikes Back: The Dawn of Jedi" = 1 Bajillion dollar box office first weekend, guaranteed. In doing so, obviously, cramming, and giving away _(what should be)_, the ending of a sequel's finale, in it's prequel. That was really good. The only thing missing is one of my favorite lines in the whole saga, which is when Luke says he's not afraid and Yoda says, "You will be." That needs to be in there.
