STAR WARS: The Force Awakens SPOILER Review 

I didn't like the part with practical sets and effects. Also the acting was too good for my taste.

In other news, I think I'm in love with Daisy Ridley.

Episode VIII predictions: Luke teaches Rey about the ways of the force while she runs and jumps around the jungle with him on her back.

My only problem with the movie: How fast Ray effectively used the force.

I thought Chewbacca acted appropriately. He yelled in anger and shot Kylo Ren in the side and set the bombs off in a fit of rage. Not going so far as to take out a ton of revenge on unsuspecting stormtroopers but instead stayed level headed enough to remember the mission.

Possibly my 2nd favourite film in the series after Empire.

Fun facts: Alec Guinness's voice was editing into the movie, the part where Rey has the nightmare in Maz Kanada's castle. Rey is in the forest and you can here is voice say "Rey". They took the audio from a new hope when he says "come here, don't be afraid" to R2-D-2.

Good movie but Abrams shot his load with the similarities with the original. I hope the next one isn't going to be Empire the way Force was A New Hope. And it certainly looks like it's headed that way with Luke becoming a Yoda type of figure and a possible big reveal like Rey being Luke's daughter.BB-8 is a legend tho.

Chewbacca did rage out. He shot the troopers and blew them up. He didn't need to use his hands because Chewbacca isn't a brute, he's a brain over brawn character in the original trilogy if u noticed, John.

i love how the light saber interacts to the environments, trees snow wall... etc. and the fight is so fucken great! i like how they cause small wounds instead of slicing everything off someone like the previous episodes.

Hey Flick...I was thinking, If Snoke turns out to be Darth Plagus....(same music from Opera scene in Sith and mention of him being "wise"), then those scars on his face must be from Palpatine attempting to kill him in his sleep. After Vader was a bust...Kylo must have been swayed by Snoke and went crazy killing all the padawans Luke was training ...therefore forcing him to drop off Rey on Jakku maybe? The movie was great except for the cgi Men in Black squid monsters and the Jack and the beanstalk style giant Snoke projection.

i think it was a very good movie but i have some gripes. The way Rey completely trounced Kylo ren made no sense. They actually did the best job they could of selling him losing because he was shot and was emotionally distraught after taking his fathers life but the more i think about it the more ridiculous it is that he lost. It just shows that it was a bad decision for kylo to lose to rey period!! Him being injured should not have been an excuse for him to lose, rather it should have been an excuse for rey and fin to escape with their lives in tact. It just makes no sense under any circumstances for Kylo Ren to lose to someone who just picked up the light-saber for the first time and learned about the force 3 hours ago. That last bout should have been fin and Rey teaming up to beat Kylo ren and barely escaping with their lives. Kylo losing in such a manner almost ruins his characters intimidating factor for the next 2 movies cause youre going to be asking yourself "will Rey be strong enough to defeat kylo ren?" well.....yes we've already seen her destroy him in the first movie............ Rey was just way to powerful and good at everything way too fast in this movie.

One of the best lines - when Han says "How do we blow it up? There's always a way to do that" it's just perfect, they're self aware about the similarities to New Hope. That doesn't completely cancel out the flaw but it makes it a lot less bad.

I really loved Adam Driver's portrayal of Kylo Ren because you feel he is playing 2 characters. And the key thing to notice these traits is with his mask. With his mask he is Kylo Ren, a badass villain that everyone is afraid of because he takes inspiration of Darth Vader and make it his own version of him. And when he removes his mask he turns into Ben, a guy that is in conflict with himself and with The Force because he feels like the Dark Side is more important, but the Light Side is calling him and even almost convincing him that what he is doing is wrong. Also, what I love is that he thinks he feels more confident when he has his mask because he is emulating his grandfather and he "feels" that it is right. And when he didn't had his helmet on while fighting Rey he feels weak and powerless and his only way to feel The Force is by punching his wounds in order to feel pain and suffering. TL;DR Kylo Ren is what Anakin Skywalker should've been in the prequels

Btw Han Solo is returning in Episode 8. The cast has been announced and Harrison Ford is signed on

When fin gave the thumbs up to BB-8 and BB-8 flips a lighter back, I though that meant that BB-8 is angry for lying to Ray and flips the lighter as if saying "I will burn you >:(" because BB-8 did not want to give Ray the co-ordinates to the resistance location but was stressed out because Fin begged him to ignore its protocols..

better then the prequels. Pacing was like the original, but wasn't edited like the old ones. More modern, better flow. That lightsaber battle. I wish we had more, but it makes sense. Ren was a bad ass, but he was also young, and a noob. Rey was a bad ass, who picked up the force fast as shit, but was also a noob. Fin was a storm trooper all his life, but on his first mission. He understood this isn't right, and you were able to tell he was a noob. When he fought the other storm trooper. If people are complaining that it's to much like the 4th movie, aren't these the same people who said they don't want this movie to be like the prequels? I mean...pick one dumbasses.

The scene I love, which makes me laugh out loud every time (more than the thumbs-up by BB-8), is when Finn is asking for water, and the one, cool-looking, steam-punk alien says "Naaaah!" like a goat. It fits the universe, and is just hilarious!

Everyone is so oblivious to the huge flaws in this movie. Everyone is just fanboying over this movie just because it's Star Wars and has things people remember from their childhood. Not to mention how much this copied episode 4.

Awesome movie! I saw it once Thursday and once today, and I cannot wait to see it again! Kylo Ren is a really cool new villain and I'm glad they didn't "Darth Maul" him in this movie. His rage fits where he trashes the rooms were funny. I liked Captain Phasma, but I can't wait to see her in Episodes VIII and IX. I didn't care much for Snoke and you're right, he does look like remake Freddy Krueger. Rey is the coolest protagonist in the movie. I want to see her and Kylo Ren face off again with more lightsaber-to-lightsaber training. Finn was also a really good character, although I thought the trailers made it out to seem like he was a new Jedi, not Rey. Poe was cool. BB-8 turned out to be one of the best parts of the movie. I didn't expect to like him as much as I did. The lightsaber fight was well done and one of my favorite scenes in the movie. I still think Anakin vs. Obi-Wan (Episode III) and Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan vs. Darth Maul (Episode I) were the most entertaining lightsaber fights, but Finn and Rey vs. Kylo Ren is my 3rd favorite and I almost like it more than Episode I's fight. The scenes when Kylo Ren holds Poe and then Rey in place using the Force was well done and it seemed like they really couldn't move. The acting in the movie was great and everyone was believable. I am excited to see what happens in Episodes VIII and IX. I want to see Luke training Rey, Kylo Ren's further training, what happens to Finn, and more. This may be my favorite Star Wars movie. Before this, Episode VI was my favorite followed be Episode V. I would give The Force Awakens easily a 10/10 ranking!

Do you think after episode 7, 8 and, 9 they are going to make an episode 10, 11, and, 12? I've heard rumors that this is true.

I would love to see Chewbacca go nuts and get revenge for Han. Remember what Han said to Threepio in Episode 4 when he lost at hologram chess... "That's 'cause droids don't pull people's arms out of their socket when they lose. Wookiees are known to do that."! Chewie has lost his friend and what I'd like to see happen in the next movie is Luke fighting Kylo and as Kylo is losing Luke throws him to Chewie and Chewie starts to pull Kylo's arms out of their sockets!!! Probably won't happen with it being a Disney film!

Something I noticed is that Fin's/Luke's lightsaber didn't melt the snow on contact while Kylo Rant's triple thingy majig did. Also Kylo's is clearly a differenet texture and looks less refined and controlled as the other lighsabers in the franchise.

I agree about your opinion on Phasma to a degree. Having more screen time of her wasnt that necessary, but it was what they did with her screen time that was dumb. The fact that they made her the one to take down the shields was really dumb, they could have used a regular storn trooper. Instead, how awesome would it have been if she was the storm trooper Finn fought with the lightsaber??

One of my favourite moments is when Chewy is injured and Finn says: "he's tried to kill me six times" - Chewy grabs him and Finn says "which is fine". Moments like those really make a great Star Wars film!

Do you think that Supreme Leader Snoke is actually Darth Plaguis, since Plaguis is still canon because he was mentioned in the prequels, and because they look similar and Supreme Leader Snoke is badly injured, maybe from Palpatine?

Anyone notice how at the start of each trilogy, some older, mentor character is killed by a lightsaber in the end? First it was Obi-Wan. Then Qui-Gon, and now Han Solo...

I think they just wanted Ray to be such a badass they didn't pay attention to the lore of the force....after a lot of training Luke still didn't have control of the force, not like Ray did in one afternoon, but they wanted a badass hero so bad they just gave her OP powers

There's something I don't really understand. Why did it take so long for the lightsaber to pop out of the snow? (it's not because 2 people were trying to take it at the same time because they were both pulling it to the same direction so it should have even pop out faster)

Sounds like we agree on just about everything. I said many of the same things in my review video. I also talked about the fact that the Star Killer Base got 2 shots (base blew up before 2nd shot got off). What do you think of that? My theory is that we don't see the fuel for the first shot. Maybe they used the magma core as fuel for the first shot and then used that empty space to contain the star for the second shot before it fired...of course then it blew up. WAY TO GO POE!

The scene between Han Solo and Kylo Ren is brilliant.. The idea of Kylo's struggle with the light is showed on the bridge when he's about to kill his father the light of the sun going inside the room fades out and turns the room darker and darker as himself.. on that moment the dark side won. Now he's ready to complete his training as Snoke said, because now he doesn't have the light side anymore. And all of that was showed on image, it doens't need dialogue on that moment, you can feel it by Kylo's struggle on the entire movie, that closed his first arc and lead him to a new one as a "Sith".

The ending should have been done during sunset. And as Rey holds out Luke's lightsaber he turns to face her, we get a glimpse of his face as the camera pulls back to a wide shot of their silhouettes with the shadows cast on the ground, both facing each other on opposites sides of the sun setting in the background. *Roll credits & music*

A scene I think needs to happen in Episode 8 that will really develop Kylo Ren is this... Kylo Ren is trying to order Hux to get something done. Some back and forth arguing. "You need to learn your place Ren, you are not in charge here!" says Hux. Kylo Ren flips around a pulls Hux towards himself and impales him on the lightsaber. "DO YOU FEEL IN CHARGE?" Ren says, literally shaking with rage. He drops Hux's body. Kylo looks up and all the troopers and officers are stunned. Kylo lashes out and kills everyone in the room. WOULDN'T THAT BE FREAKING AMAZING?

VII isn't too much like IV. The opening scene and last act are similar, but everything in the middle was different. Plus, the biggest complaints about the prequels were that it was too different. Now it's too similar?

Theory: we know luke was training kylo. Maybe he was teaching rey as well (explaining why she is a badass). Once kylo ran away and became a evil luke sent rey to jakku, erased wiped her mind, and told her to stay there (expaining why she was so reluctant to leave)

Rey was definitely at Luke's Academy as a little girl when she was on Jakku. When she touched the lightsaber, those were HER memories that had been supressed. Kylo Ren accidentally removed some more of the blocks on her memory and powers when he tried to interrogate her which was why she began to be able to use her powers. She is most likely Luke's daughter since the filmmakers have said these Episodic movies follow the Skywalker family. Luke (or Mom) may have left her on Jakku after Kylo Ren destroyed the Jedi Academy in order to protect her. Every Time they talk about "Who is the girl?" in the film, the picture cuts away, not giving us an answer.

Chewbacca's howl when THAT happened got me real bad.

Luke in this movie was Smaug in the first hobbit movie. And just as in The Hobbit, you just get to have a glimpse at him at the end. That was genius.

It'd be quite funny seeing the last scene of Star Wars Ep. VII and listening: "Hearts on fire..." :p

In the prequels, I understand why fight scenes had to be that way. It was a great way of showing how skilled jedi knights were at their prime even if the choreography was a tad bit over the top but it worked and it became one of the reasons why people actually watch em. Lol

Notice how Snoke didn't act worried at all, knowing that Starkiller Base was being destroyed? He only cared about getting Kylo Ren back and giving him more training. Also, the technology used to power the weapon of Starkiller base is a lot like the same technology used to power the Star Forge from Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic. I think that this base used the same kind of ancient tech, reverse engineering it or something like that. It's also confirmed that the planet Rakata Prime is canon, and a lot of fans are saying that the planet Luke is on is Rakata Prime, since it looks so similar with having mostly oceans and small island chains. Rakata Prime, in the old lore, was the capital planet and home planet of the Rakata species, of which they ruled the largest galactic empire about 25000 years (give or take 5000) before the rise of Darth Vader. They used the Star Forge to create an infinite navy, droid armies, armor, tech, etc. The Star Forge rested atop the Sun of the system and slowly siphoned energy off the sun in order to produce this infinite empire. I suspect that the First Order probably has tons of shipyards and armories, etc, that are also powered the same way the Star Forge was powered. Something tells me that Snoke is ancient enough to have known about this technology and use it to recreate and rival the power of the Empire ruled by Palpatine. This is all speculation, and I know that everything from the KOTOR series is not canon, minus the fact that the Star Wars team has confirmed that Rakata Prime was indeed canon and appears to be in the same sector as the map shown in the movie. It also seems that the first Jedi Temple is on Rakata Prime, which wouldn't line up with lore told in KOTOR, but it still could... after the Rakatan Empire fell due to rebellion from slave species, disease, infighting and civil war, their species continued to live on their homeworld of Rakata Prime, with one sect being more jedi like and another sect being more sith like. It is possible that these Jedi-esk Rakatan created was is known as the first jedi temple... Anyways, I'm totally stoked for the next film. I can't wait to see Rey and Kylo both being trained by their masters. I do think Snoke is a Sith, and he is training Kylo to become his Sith apprentice. Kylo was already "Master of the Knights of Ren" so what is higher than that? A Sith Lord. Unless they take a different route of course, but I think they'll go back and reference Snoke as a Sith.

Has anyone ever noticed that throughout the Star Wars universe (to my knowledge) no one that was not force sensitive has used a light saber as a weapon. Maybe Finn is a descendant of a certain kickass, Samuel L. Jackson played Jedi?

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Is now my favorite movie of all time. So many things were done right. Like the musical score, the characters, and the humanizing factor. Like giving the stormtroopers a personality and the amazing return of Lord C-3P0. BTW, when ren stopped that blaster shot in the beggining of the movie, I knew that this guy was a badass.

Love that you pointed out how they screwed up the last shot of the flicking flick! You have 2 actors emoting their ass off in a beautiful and powerful scene and then a cheap shot off of some damn drone. Horrible. Other than that love the new characters and you nailed Disney's need to setup the new universe. It gives the kids, teens and adults something to love so they are hooked!

I feel like the prequels fighting were mostly because those were heavily trained Jedi/Sith/Ect so of course they were going to be a more flashy. I feel as if with this fight in 7 we are seeing babies trying to cut each other up with sabers so of course they are less refined. Personally 7 is my new favorite but episode 3 still had my favorite saber fights. I imagine by Episode 9 we will see a saber fight that is a little more fluid.
