Unlike Maul, she had less screentime, also Maul gets to kill one of the main characters from the Phantom Menace. Also if they did in the future a 3rd season of Resistance they could bring back Phasma back just like Maul
I love how they hyped her up over the entirety of the first film what with the trailer showcasing her, and introducing her as some ruthless authoritarian, and she does nothing the entire movie except get ambushed and then thrown down a garbage chute. Wow, what an amazing villain.

Phasma should've been an actual presence in all three films. Not a glorified cameo in two. Imagine a story in all three films, Phasma liking Finn bc she saw potential in him and cares about him as a pupil. Maybe she struggles with killing him due to Finn being her favorite but decides to stay loyal to the First Order and her last words in their final battle on the third film. "You were always my favorite".

Boba Fett was similar, he only had small role in the original trilogy when first introduced but he left an impact. While not much into sequel series i did like captain phasma out of all the characters.

Pretty much if you use the force to help/save people, your a jedi, and if you use the force to murder innocents, your pretty much a sith. He was trained by both Luke Skywalker and Snoke, two very powerful light and Dark side teachers, yet loses to this random girl. This girl spent her life on tatoonie 0.4 fighting against low level thugs with a staff but somehow uses a completely different weapon to best kylo in melee combat. That's like having a random civilian out shoot a trained Marine. For Rey and Finn, it would've been better if they barely escaped with their lives on the falcon, both train with Luke/Leia and then have a rematch in the final film, where both of them fight a peak Kylo together. This would give kylo some of his teeth back and have both of our characters fail and possibly lose a limb but come back to finish the fight on equal playing field.
@@CLB-er6ns using a wooden stick and using an energy blade that could literally sever your own limb with one wrong move isn't the same. Plus a fighting style of a staff and a sword are two different fighting styles to just transfer over because of " harsh conditions"
What was in the book was completely different than what was on screen. Phasma in the book was cunningly brutal and kinda scary. Movie Phasma was a joke.

Her visor on the helmet was open so fire could of entered that way plus her armor looks like it absorbs heat nicely so she probably burnt toast in that armor

Phasma reminds me of Glados in many ways. Such a shame her full character potential wasn't brought out like valve did with Glados. She had so much potential
Disney's guide to ruining star wars: well its quite simple you see. You take cool characters like phasma and you give them terrible dialogue, short scenes, and stupid deaths! And then you take the least interesting characters like finn and you give him tons of screen time! Wallah!

The back story and character development came after she was introduced in the movies, and was created by entirely different people. Furthermore, it was only created because audiences reacted so positively to the character. In terms of Phasma the movie character, they didn't ruin her. She was created as a tertiary antagonist, nothing more. It's not the fault of the script writers that the fanbase attached so much importance and raised expectations to a character that was only ever intended as a minor villain.
A sub SW story like Solo or Rogue would have been good, about a defecting Trooper and the Captain. This great actress only has like 4-6 minutes of screen time across the two movies

Yeah, no. Giving Phasma a "redemption arch" would be completely out of character. She murdered her brother and family so there would be nothing to tie her to her homeworld. She killed her commander, Cardinal, to push the elder Hux's child soldier idea. She then murdered the elder Hux because the younger Hux promised to put her in charge of Stormtrooper training Her entire backstory is killing anyone that gets in her way or slighted her. Giving her a "redemption arch" would nurture more and make her a bigger joke than the movies did.

@erwin669 I’m pretty sure they didn’t mean redemption in the literal sense that she’d become a good guy. Just that she could have survived the plunge and returned to finally get a moment to really shine as an antagonist. The novel is a phenomenal character dive, but we just don’t get to see a lot of that reflected in the films. Bringing her back could’ve given her a chance to stick in the audience’s minds as more than a glorified cameo in some shiny chrome fitting.

The thing about Grevious, he's not even made for Episode III in mind because George did not make him. Same for Boba Fett, he isn't film only character. It's understandable for Maul though.
crazy theory: perhaps Phasma was aware of Mandalorians ways (at some point of her childhood) and take the habit of never remove her helmet, using this in her own troops
She actually grew up on this post-apocalyptic world and became a true believer in the First Order when she met the elder Hux. She believed in completely detaching from one's past which is why she murdered her family and set up the child training program within the First Order.
Similar to how Captain Phasma is Captain of the First Order’s stormtrooper, snow trooper and flame trooper armies and one of the First Order’s prominent leaders alongside Supreme Leader Snoke, Kylo Ren, General Hux, the Knights of Ren and General Pyrde.
Phasma was basically a dissapointment, she is just one of these characters who just looking menacing but get easily defeated. Basically like most of the inquisitors.
I know people hate the idea of Lucasfilm doing anything else with the Sequel era or its characters, but it'd be really really cool to see them adapt the Phasma novel into a Disney+ miniseries or something.
I always thought Phasma should've been in all three films. She could've acted as Finn's personal nemesis and sign of progression. Like, they could have dueled in TFA and have Finn get his ass handed to him, because he's not a Captain trained in hand-to-hand combat. Then, by TLJ have him go through some training to fight (which we would _show)_ and have their duel there end in a draw. Finally, by time of TROS, he could duel her one last time and finally emerge victorious as a sign that he's risen above her. I don't know, Phasma was just actually really cool in a sea of "meh" or bad characters that I feel two cameos was a waste of her. Especially considering they got Gwendoline Christie to play her.
Most anticlimactic and unsatisfying death EVER. Yeah, Moff Gideon “died” the same way (I said died in quotations because I believe he’s alive, given his armor is fireproof and Anakin survived being partially merged in lava with no armor at all) but the difference is that Gideons scream was loud while Phasmas was super distinct.
Over the weekend just past I bought a star wars themed vape and I've named it after captain phasma because the vape is of a storm trooper and it's chrome that's the reason.
Phasma could have had Boba Fett-like popularity but they made her a bland two-dimensional character that was really just a high-ranking Stormtrooper. Give her some special weapons or skills or something.
However, fundamentally Palpatine is what he is only because in the Star Wars setting "doing evil for the sake of doing evil" makes perfect sense due to how the Force works.

You know while i dont like the dequal series too much, one thing few things i liked about it was new storm trooper armor and captain phasma. If you dont delve into comics and books captain phasma in some ways reminds me of boba fett, though she ended up having bit more screen time and dialogue than him. If only they used phasma bit better.
Listen, I love TLJ and am ok with TFA but why does Phasma have so little screen time in the movies, but the battle between her and Finn *kind of* makes up for it.
Because nobody cares and the biggest mistake is that they derived not only the OT but a little bit of PT and other supplementary material. Rian Johnson is a joke as a filmmaker.
