How do you know she's 30? If she was born 21 years before Rogue One (0 BBY), that makes her 21 in the movie. And Rey was born 15 years later, when Jyn would be 36. The math lines up
Yeah, both Jyn and Rey have two eyes, a nose, and two ears. They're practically twins! I just want Rey to be Obi-Wan's granddaughter... That's all I ask...
+Official Unoffical well, there's a woman in the clone wars that Obi fell in love with. He said he'd LEAVE the code for her. They were kinda dating for a bit, but he knew she could never love him because of her status. She was a dutchess. She was eventually killed, but there could be a time where she was pregnant
The in universe equivalent of : "Do you think I have a shot with Rey?" "BEN!" "Sorry." I'm dying from realizing that they share a name. And a girl. *wheeze*
Daniel Paterson but following the timing of sateens death. This is impossible. Dutches sateen died in roughly 20 BBY. Ray was born in 15 ABY and is 19 years old at the time of the force awakens. Not possible. My small theory is that Obi-Wan Kenobi hooked up with her sister. Just a thought.
What if the Rogue One team becomes the Knights of Ren as Film Theory suggests? How would that affect or be affected by this theory? (EDIT: I've seen the movies and I know that neither theories work, just would have been a cool idea. This note is for the all a y'all that don't bother looking at the replies. It's been 3 weeks since the comment was posted, and that was before Rogue One came out in BC. Now you know.)
Sorry, Ben, but Daisy may be too tame for you. Rey, on the other hand, could climb right beside you. You may be one of only a handful of guys who could keep up with Rey. Good luck to you!
Lexivor perhaps, but I'd have thought it more likely to be remembered from Dickens, even though he wasn't the first to use it. Actually, he makes a point of saying that it was not his phrasing but that "the wisdom of our ancestors is in the simile" so he wouldn't change it.
It's common knowledge that people working on franchises or series will have some sort of clause in their contract basically saying that they're not to share that sort of stuff. She has directed people away from the theory, saying "just because we both have accents," and "would the timing even work?" But she hasn't actually said the words, "That's not true. That doesn't happen."
just because there both white, have brown hair and both have a british accent, they are not possibility related, tje actress even said this and basically said there not related, its mor elikely that jin and the rest of the group are the knights of ren
Official Unoffical Yes, but age doesn't work the same in the Star Wars universe. Many characters have been shown still fighting late into their elder years. Obi-Wan himself was at least 60 in 'A New Hope' Not to say, Yoda is old as dirt. Now, you might say that's due to them being Jedis, and yes there is little proof for non-jedi humans growing to an old age, but I would argue with the technology of the universe, they would be living and fighting much later in to their lives. It's possible the Knights of Ren suits are a lot like Vader 's, providing life to the Knights.
Ray, Jin, and Obi-wan are the only people to have British accents though. And it was most definitely written that way. Not to say that they are related, but it is odd that these three are the only ones.
Considering there have been other British actors (ex. John Boyega) who were specifically asked to fake an accent because they wanted Rey to be the only British character... (or at least the only British good guy, because she's obviously not related to Captain Phasma or General Hux) There must be a reason for it.
Well, that's kinda a good theory, but I prefer that Luke is Rey's father. Not only the similarities they have like their life before they became a Jedi, the lightsaber, Luke's reaction about Rey, etc. it also includes the balance between Anakin & Darth Vader. In the video, who's Rey's father from Carlin Brothers, Rey being Luke's daughter completely shows the struggles and the things that Anakin have been through when he was a jedi before being Darth Vader. Kylo Ren is the son of Leia aka Darth Vader's daughter. Kylo represents the struggles and things that Darth Vader have been through before he was redeemed by Luke, and not to mention, Anakin did balance the force. When you say balance, it's not only the light side nor the dark side living in harmony, it's both light & dark living in harmony. The Jedi have been thinking too much of the light side they didn't analyze the meaning of balance. The Empire have been too much of the dark side and they didn't analyze the meaning either or they just want destruction. But Anakin was the chosen one. The one who can balance the force. HE DID BALANCE THE FORCE!!!!!!!!!!! By joining BOTH SIDES!!!!!!!!!! sorta. But he still balances the force. If you analyze closely at both Rey & Kylo, they both represent the Chosen One. Rey as Anakin Skywalker and Kylo as Darth Vader. BALANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And if Rey is Luke's daughter, both Rey Skywalker and Kylo Ren aka Ben Solo are both grandchildren of Anakin Skywalker aka Darth Vader. GANERN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LONGEST COMMENT I EVER MADE TO MYSELF!!!!!!!
@SuperCarlinBrothers I have been watching this channel since you guys had less than 500,000 subscribers! I'm so happy to have seen you guys reach 1,000,000!!!! Thank you being so super awesome!
also i reckon Rey is a Kenobi cause Obi-wan was known to have love for many women and in the old canon and some of the new canon, i think, there was Kenobi's after Obi and one of them could have easily have married Jyn and had Rey
I really suggest you guys watching film theory's video on Rouge one. I'm not saying that you should agree with Mat Pat but I just want you guys to watch it.
Hey I have a theory I don't know if someone else has already thought of it but as I was watching Star Wars the Force awakens I was think how R2D2 never woke up untill ray come on the planet my theory that maybe luck is rays father and he said to R2 that only come back online until ray/my daughter is near so that's my theory hope no one else's has thought of it yet love you guys vid keep it up
I like the MattPatt's version of the Rogue One theory over at Film Theory.. so no, I dont think she is her mom.. i think they all survive & change sides ;)
Odyssey2001 I never claimed it to be true did I? Take your head off of your ass. Are you really going to be that proud if the THEORY ended up being false? I just asked why do you think it is false. You are ignoring the question at hand. You called him an idiot yet you can't justify your argument?
I think that it is obviously leia and Han as the parents. She is practically as powerful as Kylo Ren and she can fly like Han. This could also explain why leia hugs her instead of Chewbacca after Han dies
Rock Mint Swirl that's actually some really deep star wars lore. The father, the son, and the daughter. The daughter is the light, the son is the dark, and the father is basically neutral.
For everyone yapping about them all being killed off, the lady in A New Hope who talks to the pilots before attacking the Death Star says "Many rebels died to bring us this information." So Disney did a good job there.
That doesn't add up! Jyn dies before the Battle of Yavin, and Rey was born 15 years after the battle. I think that it's more likely that Luke was the dad of Rey.
I mostly want Obi wan to be rey's grandfather but maybe Jyn and Cassian somehow survived with the kyber crystal protecting them and they had Rey. But we'll never know...till episode 9 (maybe) Oh and I think you might have a shot with Daisy Ridely.
I haven't seen the whole video so I don't know if you have covered this yet but first. :SPOILER WARNING: If you do not want to have the movie spoiled for you then move past this comment. I saw the movie opening night! The BIG contadiction to this theroy is.... wait for it.... Jyn dies. Se gets killed in the explosion. And we know she doesn't have any kids.
There was a rumor that Jyn was going to be Princess Leia. If that rumor was true, it would explain why they chose an actress who resembles young Carrie Fisher. It would also explain why Jyn and Rey would have a family resemblance.
I think they are sisters. (spoilers from Rouge One) Reasons why: 1. They look so alike that they CAN be sisters 2. Lyra Erso was never confirmed that she died, so she could've given birth to rey after some years. 3.They both have the same accent 4. Lyra could've left rey on jakku because she didn't want rey to get into the mess that she is in, since they still might be looking for her. What do you think? I just dont know who the father is, I think it's obi-wan kenobi
*spoiler alert* well, Jyn cannot possibly be Rey's mother. because, at the end of Rouge One, Jyn dies. And Rey was born 15 years after. so that is all i know.
Here's a theory- due to the similar imaginative/ dreamer personalities of moana and lilo from lilo and stitch, and their similar knack of being able to befriend supernatural beings (moana with the ocean, Lilo with stitch) could Moana be Lilo's great great grandmother???
I haven't watched the video yet, but in order for Rey to be Jyn's daughter, Jyn would have to have survived the destruction of Scarif because Rey was born in 16 ABY and Rogue One takes place 15 years prior in 0 BBY.
Commentary: Q: Star Wars Rogue One comes out in just next weeks and today we are discussing if Jyn Erso could in fact be Rey's mother! R: Hm, makes sense. I guess so. Q: Also do you guys think Ben has a shot with Daisy Ridley?? 😍 R: *(face palm)*
I'm getting ready for work and listening to this video at the same time and dropped my tooth brush when you said you have a question for rays dad lol second best part of the video the ending being the best part lol
I'm still very much convinced that Leia is Rey's mother. I mean, like you said, we only focus on the possible father. But why not think about the mother? Say after Leia has Kylo, she begins to see the darkness in him. She knows what will happen. Her relationship falls apart with Han, everything is in ruin. she has a child sans Han. She feels guilt for betraying that, and she can't bear to think of how Rey is also a force user, so she plops her down on a forgotten planet, away from everyone and everything that could influence her.
I know this isn't relevant to this video, but I have a theory about Moana. So at the end, Mother Earth becomes a island, which, has a curved entrance, like Moana's home island. Which are very similar to the volcanoes from the disney short where the volcanoes sing a love song. Although, this theory is torn apart by the fact that the volcanoes rise out of the ground.
You don't have to have force using parents to be a force user. It's way more common to have regular parents and be a force user. Most Jedi are born the muggle-borns of Star Wars.
