FFG...please at least send 64 more "participation" cards to the stores with 128 slots (which may be all the stores) Y'all are looking pretty stingy right now...
I'm confused as why they called legal authority a participation prize. @FFG you literally said in your stream that someone that shows up for a round would get this card and then later said there are only enough for half the maximum allotted tournament size. Everyone should get a participation promo that participates...
Legal Authority too, could at least make it price on your head or something that sees play. The token looks like cardboard too...At leats the mat looks cool lol
FFG really dropped the ball here. I bet this is going to hurt the game more than grow it. You need to find the right people to run your competitive scene or this game is going to fizzle faster than set 2.
You really missed the mark in terms of prizing, set 1 showdown promos were way better than the set 2 PQ, i really hope you guys readjust prizing for further bigger events. The top cut prize card should never be anything less than a legendary (and a good one) imo and the entry prizing should not be less than a rare.
Sadly canceled my spot in a pq after this announcement. Got a 1k the week before that id prefer to attend now Hope you learned whatever you need to make the next pq season more enticing. I'll try again then
I went to an event in the UK where we got a pack and a metal initiative token for participating, was expecting more from the official competitive tournament, but I guess not.
Did you really think players would be happy with those promos? You have produced a golden game with a great mechanic. Those mistakes are very costly. Imo this is a strategic and marketing mistake. So disapointing..... Fix this quick for us please.
The PQ card prize is pretty disappointing. Evazan for the first competitive tier event is such a let down. There are so many other cool cards you could have picked and it doesn't even need to be a legendary - Wrecker or Maul would have been 1000% better. Also what is up with only providing 64 participation cards to stores with 128 participants. Starting to drop the ball...
sad there isn't anything worth fighting for in SWU and we are about to be in set 3 soon. players count for our locals are slowly dropping and now this.
...it's not a participation prize then huh? Sounds more like it's a top 64 prize now. Either way both cards are kinda trash for constructed play anyway. The are not unusable, but I don’t think I've seen ether of them used outside of limited.
Talk about bait & switch. Get everyone signed up with promises on awesome prizes, won’t have people travelling if they knew before. Did like they threw the Devs under the bus for the card choice.
Apart from being a competitive tcg player and loving to compete, there's nothing that makes me excited to participate in a PQ. Prize support has been kind of bad post set 1. Players should be amped to participate. Legal authority sees no play. It'll just sit in a binder.
I cannot emphasize enough how disappointing this announcement was. Since the game came out all I’ve wanted is competitive play, even placed/won a few showdowns. It seriously feels like the showdown and PQ kits for this set are a complete joke. And for what it’s worth, the “organized play frame” on weekly promos and event prizes just look like worse hyperspace versions. If I didn’t know better, I’d almost think FFG didn’t want this game to have a competitive scene so it’s less to deal with
It's been a nightmare trying to sign up for a Planetary Qualifier, I kept trying to look for sign ups but when they were available at random times, they sold out before I could even get on
So basically it's only worth it if you win the event. Anything less and you will feel like you wasted your time. This is very unfortunate mismanagement for the competitive scene. Especially after setting a strong bar for set one store showdowns and then giving people no reason to play in set two events....
If FFG continues on like this The competitive scene will no longer be a thing. These promos are absolutely terrible not to mention a top 64 for participation promo is absolutely terrible.
The Convention exclusive cards amazing.. then you drop this for an event?? Plus the store showdowns cards are for set 2 are terrible.. It's a fantastic game but if you keep this up it wont last. Already seeing massive drop off in my region.
At this point every other card game has better prizing (even yugioh of all games lmao). The game will suffer the same fate as all the other card games you did in the past if you continue not paying attention to what you are doing. Lorcana is also owned by Disney and they give out 500$ promo cards for top cut at big events, how do you explain the 5-10$ promos we get in SWU ?
Speaking about cards cost about promo is no sense. It’s cardboard/paper with ink. But I’m agree to buy you Dr Evazan champion for 10$ please send me asap, if you this is the right price off your card
This is such a disappointment. Very poor choice of cards, when you consider all the main characters in set 2 (plus no legendary for top 16) but worst of all only 64 participation card for 128 player tournaments. This prizing would be underwhelming for a store showdown but for a PQ this has zero hype for an uncommon and a rare that are never seen at the table. I want to echo that it should be a rare for entry and legendary for top 16. It’s too late for this PQ and maybe even for set 3 but this needs to be re-thought for future events. I won’t be buying tickets for future events until after the prizing is announced.

Just hot garbage. Bad prize card choices. Playmat is terrible. Looks like no effort was put into these choices. Like they threw cards in a hat and drew these.
What a bummer … not sure what I was hoping for but I know that wasn’t it. Maybe an easy add that would build excitement … allow participants to buy the Con exclusive kits?
I was afraid from the beginning that FFG won't get tournament prizes right and unfortunately it seems I was right. Please FFG: you can do cool cards, you showed that with the Hyperspace cards, Showcase Leaders and the Convention Exclusive Promos (the Vader, Palp one, not Grogu). Why do we get such bad and undesireable promos for tournaments? Not a fan of the alt art promos you make, Hyperspace cards just look better. Also not a fan of having prints like Judge or top 8 on the cards, especially not as prominent as they are. Also, you are way too late to tell players about those prizes, most habe already booked travel and accomodation for those tournaments and now see that it won't pay of unless you win the whole thing. This is not how you keep a professional tournament scene alive. You can do cool promos, do that for tournaments too. Look to other games that do this better. and don't give out 15 of the same promo to top 8, that just devalues the cards. I really hoped we would see something like Showcase Vader and or Luke from the set 1 starter as a prize, that would have been cool.
-The playmat art is disapointing and almost "Lazy". The champion playmat should have better artwork, like a dedicated one... not just a collage. -The participation promos should be delivered to everyone that enters the tournament. -There should be allready a system to search and enter PQs based on regions. -The participation promo should be at least a Rare that sees play, and the top cut promos should be a chased rare at least or a legendary. (Same case with the judge promos)
Im assuming its basically only for people in the US since any other country would have to fly somewhere and pay for hotel just to try and beat 127 people to win a playmat and a chance to pay for another flight and another hotel at GC....doesnt make a lot of sense for anyone outside those cities.
more participation cards! Better Promos! timely intervention as Participation Promo and a Legendary Top 16 Card like Vos (in Set 1 it was a mono blue and a white red Legendary Card, so Mono green and yellow black Legendary would have been fair, even if Vos is less popular in the Meta than Mace)
Really disappointing. Hardly a participation prize when only half the field get one. The choice of cards for the promos is really bizarre. We should be competing for promos of big name characters. Ray, Poe, The Mandalorian, Snoke, Chewie, Maul. Characters that people really care about. And only one mat? You know what people want, after all you're selling them for a small fortune at conventions. I'd hoped you'd do something quite a bit better than a store kit, but sadly not. Big missed opportunity here.
Ok, I want to say I love FFG as a whole. I love every game I own made by then, including Star Wars unlimited. That being said, I feel like this was a big miss. From the card, it rares to the playmate, being less cool and polished than other events. I hope that this is a bate to this, and they take the feedback and make actions on it. I want to see this game be successful for years to come. Pleas pleas do better next time. op play is so important. Please keep making this game successful.
Star Wars unlimited is such an incredible game but this prizing for a PQ really misses the mark. Calling it a participation prize but not including enough for any more than half the attendees to receive it is a joke. Then the choice of the promos, especially the top 16, is quite disappointing. Very weak prizing for what are the biggest series of official tournaments thus far. Hopefully FFG acknowledges the disappointment in the community and takes steps to improve it! This is such an amazing game, I'd hate for it to lose steam because of bad OP prizing/support.
£25 x 128 players = £3200 in revenue. But only Top 64 get promo prizing :( Even worse only the top 33+ get any packs at the one I'm going to. Not to mention the promos are mediocre cards and don't look amazing. You've dropped the ball (again?).
FFG, there is nothing about the way you are running this game (other than the amazing design) that makes any of us believe you care about a competitive scene. Learn from other CCG/TCGs please, your game will fail if you ignore this component. You have the ability to print "free" money (prizes and promos) and you are failing this basic concept of how to attract people to this game. If you see secondary prices tank, this announcement might be the nail in the coffin.
Do better guys. you're telling me the 1st showdown gets a legendary with sick art I might add, for top promos. And a PQ gets a rare. Horrible. You guys are abusing your legal authority. And don't get me started on the mat. Lol. Do better for a great game please.
PLEASE FFG: 1st read my other post You made a really good game with SWU, please get the prizes right or the game will hit a brick wall because of organized play. Feel free to contact me for a free counsel session, I played over 200 tcgs and similar games, including most of the ones FFG made, I have experience in hosting tournaments, judging and traveling the world to play in events amd work at an LGS. I have a pretty good idea what players like to see and what gets them to attend tournaments.
This is such a crucial tournament to gather and retain interest and to really show everybody who invested that you mean business. And then you wind up doing this? Look at Lorcana. Look at Flesh and Blood and how they handle Organized Play... It's the lowest hanging fruits ever and you somehow ignored them?
