The most I had was the AT-ST and the x-wing plus a few figures. I remember collecting Kellogg's tokens and sent off for the Emperor figure. It wasn't available in shops at the time. Ah good times...
"Impressive, most impressive" As I was born in 79, I only caught the end of Star Wars toys. Best comparison I can say is with MASK, I got Boulder Hill, Rhino & a few others all for one Xmas! I was shocked to see Boulder Hill under the tree, as my Dad had said it was way too big to be in our house. It's now in my garage, awaiting the day I clear the crap away to get to it.
Disney franchise is Instantly forgettable. Cant even remember what happened in the Rise of Skywalker (or whatever its called) The mandalorian and rouge one were good though. At least my youngest boy now wants to watch the original trilogy. Oh yeah
I got mine for Christmas as a surprise gift. My parents told me they couldn't find it but I had enough in Christmas money to buy one later on and my folks and I were enjoying our gifts and my dad asked if I'd like a Coca-Cola since he was gonna grab one for himself and of course I said sure and as he came waking back into the room he had the AT-AT in his arms with my Coca-cola, I remember being so excited. Unfortunately the box got damaged over the years. It was Definitely the best surprise Christmas gift I ever recieved and made a lot of fun memories including my attempt at a stop motion animation film with the AT-AT lol. Thanks for sharing this 😊
I still remember the Xmas when I got one of these. I was getting ready for school and my uniform always used to be on the back of the sofa. I remember I couldn't find couldn't find my socks of all things, so looked behind the sofa to see if they had fell down... Low and behold there it was, one AT-AT box sitting there waiting (looking back, not sure why my parents didn't put it behind there after wrapping but hey). I still have it by the way, missing the pulsating guns and control room top, but still have the side guns and door. Still have my Millennium Falcon & Slave 1 too, but the Ewock Village, AT-ST, Speeder Bike, Rebel Transporter, X-Wing, Tie Fighter, Tie Interceptor, Jabba, ST-AT, B-Wing and Snow Speeder all seem to be missing or berried in my parents store room.
I remember my childhood friend had one and I was sooooo jealous! I think every young lad wanted the AT-AT! Thanks for the post and stroll down memory lane...
Wow that brings back some magical memories of childhood. All my Star Wars gear including this and the INT-4 is still up in the loft at my folks house. It still has its box too as does my (heavily played with, but still mostly intact) Millennium Falcon, Slave 1 and SnowSpeeder . Good times and thanks for sharing.
I'm 51 years old, and let me tell you kids...we had TOYS when we were growing up..cool toys that we played with..no computers, no internet, just way cool toys and our imaginations .......it was the best time of my life
Aaron DeBene. Back then toy companies actually cared to give us kids quality Star Wars toys, with electronic sounds and flashing lights on almost all of the vehicles and ships, not the overpriced cheap plastic pieces of crap Hasbro/Disney make nowadays.
Great video! I have clear memories of begging my grandma to buy this for me at Toys R Us when it came out. I eventually wore the poor woman down and left with it! I still have mine with the box, as well. Cheers!
great review pal. Absolutely one of my favorite toys from childhood. Never owned one myself until the POTF2 line in the 90s, but I did love to play with my cousins original as a young child.
I never had one of these but my older brother borrowed one off of a friend for the day. I got about 30 seconds with it and remember being in awe of it, especially the head/guns.
Oh man! I got this for christmas in about 1982 or so and it was by far my favorite toy from my childhood. I have since rebought two more for my collection...just love em'.
Wow! She is absolutely gorgeous! Thank you for sharing this. You took me back to my childhood. However, I never had this particular early '80s version. I have the 1997 re-release.
Whaa... I never did get my AT-At! However, I live in Cincy and my Aunt worked for Kenner during the originals, so you can imagine the collection I had as a kid. 😊
Yup I remember getting this for xmas around 83 or so. I got a whole shit ton I think about 23 figures, a x-wing and this. I already had the Falcon. I never had a lot of the little toys like the vehicle with the steam roller like wheel's. Yup it came with a shit ton of extra stuff. I turned my at at legs into a warhammer 40k scale reaver titan around 92 or 93. My brother put it back together and we sold all my old SW toys around 98 or 99.... Great video, thanks for the walk down memory lane. heh my guns broke and my mom had to use her hot glue gun to stick the gun barrels back on.
i actually had this as a kid and it was my favorite toy out of everything i ever had,i do noy however remember what ever happened to it and knowing how big starwars is today wish i still had it
Pretty sure I got this in Xmas 83 as well !! Thank you for bringing back so many wonderful memories !! I used to put a figure in the battery compartment - hiding / like the did in the falcon !! PS I never had the ale tea bits either. !
I Remember when I was a kid too. I had soooooo many star wars toys I am sooooo sorry I got rid of them I really wanted to pass them down to my kids. My kids went with me to all day star wars marathon at the movies an actually loved the films including the new ones. Love your video brings back good memories used to drive my mother crazy when I had to bring my toys with me everywhere. Ha ha ha ha ha
Me to bro me too I miss mine he was given to me by my two cousins who got three for christmas 1981. I was only a baby and they give me one I had him many years. I have support workers and one of them talked me into donating my baby. Boy I miss him millions. Yours Karl. I cannot stop crying
I wanted an AT-AT starting at age 6 and finally got one on my 18th birthday as a tongue in cheek gift. Better late than never! I'm not sure why I thought it was cool...maybe because it resembled a pet dog? Actually, it might have been the most expensive Star Wars toy ($50 in my neck of the woods), so it was quite the coveted prize for playground boasting. Millennium Falcon was actually a much cooler toy. Probably the best Star Wars toy. I was fond of the Dagabah play set as well.
I actually played with my AT-AT in the snow, left it outside overnight, and had to dig it out the next day. I don't recall any significant damage, but the stickers fell off eventually. My parents never bought batteries for my toys, though, so you never know.
This is a really cool toy. I just got my mom one of these, she cried tears of joy when I gave it to her. She wanted one so badly when she was a kid and she told me she was denied it because she was a girl and girls shouldn’t have something like this. The one I got her has seen better days, but it’s mostly there, and she loves it. Got one for myself too, looks great in my collection
Brilliant memories! BTW I’m sure the large peg inside was to secure the INT-4 shuttle as there was a large hole on the black skid/stabiliser, I’m also sure I saw this on a box as a child
Just pulled mine out of the attic. All complete with yellow chin guns and original bulb intact. Searched around for some D sized batteries and it still works!! Happy days 😆😆😆
Memories ... and of the extra larger figurines of Darth Vader and white Storm Troopers. All Terrain Armored Transport, lol...love it. Kenner Toys were amazing
i actually recently got a vintage at at walker it has no discoloration but my figures didnt fit on the pegs and the motor didnt work easy i had to push the gun things back a foward a bit and it worked
Amazing this toy, love your vintage reviews!! Really takes me wat back!! Now I only collect Transformers. I can kick myself for getting rid of a lot of my vintage toys, but what can you do. Thanks mate for sharing!!
Oh man, I'm laughing like a little kid with excitement. As I sure everyone was wanting to see the guns in action, as soon as you started to demonstrate the gun fire I was laughing like a little kid. They say the difference between Boys and Men is the price of the toys. I'm sure this At-At is worth alot these days. Awesome video! It's cool to see a grown man still get excited over a childhood toy. Well done
I picked this up just taken out of the box (100% complete) but just taken out side the box for $85! I also got the box with it for free. Also picked up some vintage figures in great condition and original weapons. Total was $130 for 8 figures and this. Love your channel btw! I hope you review return of the Jedi figures soon.
As someone who has a very impressive original Star Wars collection (because I'm an only child born in 81 and my parents spoiled me), I never had one of these but I wish I did after seeing this.
This is one of those things that I owed and hope I can find it again at my mom's old house. I don't remember having the light up guns on mine though since I think my parents bought it at a yard sale one year. Since I always mixed GI Joe and Star Wars together, this was sometimes Cobra's ultimate weapon. Oh.....and Cobra always won, unlike in the cartoons.
Great review. I've had my AT-AT for years and years and it's missing the lid on the head and also the moving lasers. This video makes wanna hunt down some spare parts from ebay so I can fix my baby up cuz It's up in the attic now and it makes me sad.
Holy crap it's COLOSSAL! I would have died if I'd had this back in the day (I was one year old in 1983; it would have crushed me). Look at all those Snowtroopers, it makes up for the lone one you had as a kid lol! Great vid - bet you had fun doing it! :-D
got this in my loft all original from the 80's , my dad got it for me and my bro from asda wembley just off north circular , we got the millenium falcon too at same time , got that too stored safely , no box , but totally complete and in good condition , my dad died in april 2019 at nearly 85 , makes me think of him (
I remember getting this and tones more, my dads mate worked for Palitoy as a truck driver, so got very good deal, just wished I kept them. No on my 3 collection as had to sell the last lot
This is the best Star Wars vehicle, in my opinion. Love the buggers. Also mate, you may be able to answer me question! How easy are vintage Gonk/Power Droids to get a hold of and what is their price? Would love to get one for me desk.
GREAT REVIEW! looks soo amazing! I really want to get this , looks so cool! this is one of my goals for my vintage figures :D GREAT VIDEO MY FRIEND! :D
Are you kidding me? I did not know that was a battery compartment! All those years wasted. I thought that is where you store the guns!!! Even my friends did the same thing. UGH!!! I always wonder what that button was for? I never had the little string either! Now I need to go buy one of these AT-AT so I can get the full play experience that I missed out on! Glad your back because I missed you!!... Well your videos too. ha!
I remember seeing this in Debenhams in Blackburn when it first came out and some old granny came up and said "you could buy a bed for that price, all for a piece of plastic !". She didn't know anything, she would never work for ILM.
David Boris Fernandez haha, my gran got me my first figure, the ATAT driver funnily enough. I didn't even know what Star Wars was back then, so it's all down to her.
Top Review Mate! 9 minutes gone in a flash! I look forward to seeing a review of the Bat-Bat someday! And maybe a comparison also. Fantastic! Cheers Fuzz.
I got that toys for Christmas I did not have the figures there was five thing lost and few things broke but it was my fave present I got and I am very happy to get it :D
My rich mate had this we used to recreate the hoth scene and turn off the lights and hit those laser guns ! Great days I got my snow speeder out to just great fun
I was lucky enough to have one but, It was about a week before I got bored of It. I was ten and the AT-AT was huge. It was hard to carry around and play with. It looked great on display though.
The AT-AT Commander you showed for scale was the first figure I ever owned. Unfortunately though, due to it's hefty price, I never had the AT-AT. I think it was like 30-odd quid, wasn't it? A fortune back in the early 80s! Sadly, the Millennium Falcon was seemingly out of my mum's budget too. I did get an AT-ST and Vader's TIE Fighter though.
Awesome! Although I am a collector of the original vintage line I never considered getting this since I already have the newer bigger one, but after watching this I think this one actually looks cooler! It looks like you can move the head easier, thus giving it more play value. So I might get one of these! Definitely thinking about it! Thanks for sharing, mate! :D
My son got this for Christmas many moons ago and when a neighbour wanted one for her son, and couldn't get it, I volunteered to give it to Santa, as long as I could have it back eventually..Never got it back. Gutted! Would love to have it now for his son, my grandson.
great review luke, that's really brought alot of memory's flooding back with playing with my atat when i was little, your so right in saying it was a great toy, as i've said before my starwars toy's are hiding in my loft space but i will get them out and show them off one day! one thing i'd add is my one came from a catalogue and never had the box like your's just a plain brown box, weird isn't it? kenner must have run out i suppose?
