Star Wars: Why Darth Vader Was Right (And Had a Secret Plan to Save the Galaxy)

Darth Vader is one of the all-time greatest villains of all time--or is he? With the benefit of the prequels and the Clone Wars series, we know why Anakin chose to become Darth Vader--and it was always to accomplish good. Yes, he committed reprehensible, unforgivable sins. But to gully understand the character, you have to study the context of his actions. When you step back and look at Anakin's life, you see that his goals were noble, but his means were terrible.

I don't think he was ver irreedeemable and I think that's the point. You'll allaways have time to change. Kinda like the point on Logan. "You still have time". For me Vader was allways a good guy in heart, regreting everthing he has ever done, but not knowing how he could do any better.

The murdering the kids has allways hit different for me. I cant't help of thinking that little boy looking so similar to Jake Loyd was no coincidence. It was a metaphor, like he was actually killing the young Anakin. Also, by the look on his face when he does it, seems to me that he was just "protecting" those kids. Like a quick death was just better then being forced to join the dark side or being totured to death by palpatine.

You need to separate all these comics and books from George Lucas's Star Wars. None of that has any influence over his creation. There's another video by Star Wars Theory where he discusses a book about the early SW days, showing quotes from George Lucas, referring to himself as the king of wooden dialog. In those quotes, Lucas explains how he uses dialog the same way he uses music and sound effects. He puts more value on what he considers to be the way a scene feels as a whole and seeing what he wants to have communicated, disregarding the acting quality or realistic dialog, etc.

This is why I think if Qui-Gon was still alive, Anakin would probably never have had experienced the dark side because unlike the other dogmatic, obtuse and old fashioned jedis who forbid and avoid normal and natural feelings like attachments, fear or anger, Qui-Gon wanted to acknowledge them in order to control them and take the best of it, which was exactly what Anakin needed. That’s why he was not very loved in the Jedi council and that’s why he was a way wiser and better Jedi than Yoda. The dude was so awesome that he ends up guiding Yoda in his force form in Clone Wars. 👀 Qui-Gon is by far, my favorite Jedi.

It's been canon in my head all along, since playing the alternate ending to the RotS game, that Anakin wanted to kill Palpatine from the beginning. Vader turned on everything and everyone he knew on the promise to save Padme, and then Padme died. So, that plus the rule of two of the sith, makes it seem more sensible to me that Vader wanted to kill Palpatine, but couldn't. Why couldn't he? Well, Palpatine bested the best Jedi, Anakin/Vader always felt inferior in terms of power, and now that he was in a mechanical life preserving suit and his master could essentially shock him to death, there was no way to overpower the emperor. Unless, someone uniquely strong in the force, in the prime of his/her life came along. And that's why he offered Luke to fight against the emperor. Do you think a loyal lap dog would turn that easy for a son that he never knew or raised? No, but a disloyal, unwilling servant would jump at the first opportunity to kill the one person that ruined everything for him.

It all goes back to the line he said to Obi-Wan later... "From my point of view, the Jedi are evil." Mace Windu showed he was no better than the Sith because when it was truly important he threw aside his Jedi code. Mace Windu lost himself to his fear in the end, it just happened to be Anakin's lightsaber (and Palpatine's lightning) that cast him down from the heights Jedi claimed to inhabit.

It is not that simple with the Tuskens. They abducted and tortured Anakin’s mother to death over the course of a month. A month. Thirty people went out after her and only four, Cliegg (Shmi’s husband) who lost his leg and three others, came back. Anakin had visions of what was happening to his mother. The dialogue indicates he had at least four. The Tuskens in The Mandalorian or ANH might not do horrible things but the tribe that took Anakin’s mother did. Anakin was at least remorseful about what he did to them and Padmé saw that. Would the Tuskens have been remorseful for what they did to Shmi?

This is perfect timing for me because I just started rewatching Clone Wars and kept thinking about how messed up the Jedi really are- it's actually pretty frustrating to watch. Like you see the tragedy of Obi Wan and Satine's relationship, how Anakin is repeatedly told not to rescue Ahsoka when she is lost or in danger, how the clones are not allowed to have any other life other than be a soldier and tend to objectify themselves. A LOT of padawan children get completely abandoned and are stuck on a planet to be hunted with no hope of someone finding them because the Jedi are supposed to keep moving from mission to mission and not form attachments, etc. And the Jedi are all just expected to be okay with it. Worse- when they do experience loss they are expected to just get over it as soon as possible and keep fighting. I feel like Ahsoka is kinda the only person who comes to the right conclusion in this whole thing- like she becomes independent but doesn't turn to the dark side. She continues to use her gifts to try to save lives. I agree with Barriss and Anakin's conclusion about the Jedi for the most part, but not their actions based on their conclusions.

And the usual bombing of cities was indiscriminate firebombing. Most cities have some kind of military value during war such as factories and military facilities, but LeMay decided to firebomb places rather than do precise bombing because it was safer for the crews. But it also resulted in entire cities burning to the ground and at least as many deaths as an atom bomb would result in.

It’s actually Rey Skywalker, and the reason I accepted her as Rey skywalker is because at the end of the movie her soul is a blend of both Ben solo and Rey Palpatine it’s it’s like the two souls have now merged into the one body therefore while not a blood relative she is an adoptive daughter of the skywalker legacy.

Anakin kinda had to kill the younglings to sleep himself deepr into the dark side. Such an atrocious action would bringer him closer to the Dark.

The killing the younglings thing would have been more palatable if they had written it to where Anakin shows up to the temple with the 501st already there. They have guns drawn on the younglings. Anakin hesitates before they are shot down. This way he doesn't necessarily murder them but he doesn't save them.

I've always feel that this was the case. Anakin was rightly prophesied to bring balance to The Force, but no one expect that this would also mean bringing about the destruction of both the Jedi and the Sith. But my theory is that perhaps this is a plan that Yoda came up all along, being the oldest, wisest Jedi known to have prophetic abilities. He envisioned that the universe is in danger if the Jedi keep falling to the wayside and become the ineffective religious organization that only care about its position within the Republic, and the Sith being the necessary evil to prevent that from happening. So Anakin is either manipulated by Yoda or agreed to the plan despite shattering all his moral beliefs. Likely at some point after Mustafar, Yoda elaborated this plan to Obi Wan who is then tasked to put the second phase in motion. Preparing Luke as either a martyr or a hero to the cause, redeeming Vader and making sure that the galaxy has someone they can rally themselves to.

Especially during the sequel trilogy, the lines of "good and evil" are blurred more often than they are clear. Even during the original trilogy, there are moments where the good guys do kinda messed up things (mainly in Return of the Jedi). The reason Luke Skywalker isn't the biggest example of hypocrisy is because he believes that the Force is simply what it is, using the Light or the Dark side is a tool to be used for the right job. Luke uses Force Choke on two Gamorrean guards at Jabba the Hutt's palace and he succumbs to anger during his final duel with Darth Vader at the end. But even then, he never gives in to one side over the other. He still believes that both sides are valuable tools to be used in specific situations. The Republic would view that as blasphemy.

I genuinely don’t know why but the political scenes in all of Star Wars have always fascinated me. I love how much dept it adds to the universe and it also adds an element of realism. If we were a Galaxy wide species we would definitely have a system similar to the Republic.

@@puertoricanoutlawsgaming The Star Wars Multiverse Star Wars has always had a multiverse of continuities: 1.) George Lucas episodes 1 - 6 The G-Canon, & his sequel treatments. 2.) The EU Episodes 1 - 6 plus mirror alternate universe expanded lore from fan writers. This includes Clone Wars(2003) which was meant to be in between episodes 2 & 3 but fits the EU’s interpretation of the films a lot more then the films themselves. 3.) George & Dave’s new continuity of The G-Canon Episodes 1 - 6 plus The Clone Wars. (George considers the 2008 Tv show that he worked on with Dave as apart of his continuity since it was made, He felt the same way when the 2003 show was made until he made this one.) but despite George’s view this show while a masterpiece has glaring flaws in continuity errors and narrative errors to both his films, & The EU, it doesn’t even fit the continuity of (2003) two part tv show which I remember the media at the time believing this version to be a continuation of that very show when it started. Even though this was meant to be apart of George’s G-Canon and he had no intentions of fitting it into The EU which he saw as a parallel universe for fans, at the end of the day Filoni (genius Star Wars storyteller) created a lot ideas with his staff in the stories of the show that contradict the continuity & narrative of The Films lore, which is very evident. (As much as I love Dave Filoni for The Clone Wars & Rebels, despite their errors this is the same man that was behind disney Lucasfilm’s backwards direction of Their sequels including Jake Skywalker.) 4.) The New Disney Star Wars continuity at the beginning: Episodes 1 - 6, The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels, & Their films and books (With all my gripes behind The D-Canon I got Star Wars Rebels, rogue one , and solo a Star Wars story, despite the various flaws in all three they were the closest to feeling like genuine Star Wars projects.) UPDATE: Well it started off with The G-Canon then the multiverse formed as a result of George wanting to create a space for fans to tell their own Star Wars stories. Star Wars & Indiana Jones work Off a Multiverse Canon systems for their IP’s. For Star Wars, G-Canon was at the top, In the continuity of this main universe George’s versions of events which started off The Sith, The Jedi and The Republic happen. "Everybody said, 'Oh, well, there was a war between the Jedi and the Sith.' Well, that never happened. That's just made up by fans or somebody. What really happened is, the Sith ruled the universe for a while, 2000 years ago. Each Sith has an apprentice, but the problem was, each Sith Lord got to be powerful. And the Sith Lords would try to kill each other because they all wanted to be the most powerful. So in the end they killed each other of, and there wasn't anything left. So the idea is that when you have a Sith Lord, and he has an apprentice, the apprentice is always trying to recruit somebody to join him, because he's not strong enough, usually, so that he can kill his master." So within The G-Canon The Sith ruled the universe two thousand years before The Phantom Menace but they killed each other out of their lust for power and then The Jedi & The Republic formed over the course of that time to build a better time of peace for The Galaxy and The Universe. The events of The Six films happen: Star Wars: The Phantom Menace Star Wars: Attack Of The Clones Star Wars: Revenge Of The Sith Star Wars: A New Hope Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi With The (2003) Clone Wars show that was made during the run of The Prequel Trilogy was originally taking place between Episode 2 Attack Of The Clones & Episode 3 Revenge Of The Sith before later being retconned by George Lucas & Dave Filoni with The 2008 TCW (The Clone Wars Show) Also within The G-Canon is George Lucas’s plans for his sequel trilogy which my project is based on. T-Canon below it as an Alternate Timeline where the early version of the 2008 TCW show took place before Star Wars was sold to Disney. EU (Legends) as a whole Parallel/Alternate Universe where all The Old Books, Games , etc take place along with The (2003) Clone Wars Show that used to be apart of The G-Canon but was retconned for the creation of The 2008 (TCW) The Clone Wars Show, and now permanently placed within The EU afterwards. This is The Pre-Disney Star Wars Hierarchy of Canon. Aka The Star Wars Multiverse Canon System. G-CANON: The Six Star Wars Movies. T-CANON: Star Wars The Clone Wars. C-CANON: AlI Expanded Universe Books, Comics, Video Games etc... S-CANON: Some Pre-Zahn works and alternate choices in Video Games. NON-CANON: Star Wars Infinities and alternate endings to Video Games "Canon refers to an authoritative list of books that the Lucas Licensing editors consider an authentic part of the official Star Wars history.” “Our goal is to present a continuous and unifed history of the Star Wars galaxy, in so far as that history does not conflict with, or undermine the meaning of Mr. Lucas's saga of films and screenplays'. Things that Lucas Licensing does not consider official parts of the continuous Star Wars history show an Infinities logo or are contained in Star Wars tales. Everything else is considered canon." Sue Rostoni, Editor at Lucas Licensing Star Wars Gamer Magazine, Issue #6, July 2001 There are two worlds here," explained Lucas. "There's my world, which is the movies, and there's this other world that has been created, which I say is the parallel universe- licensing world of the books, games and comic books." -the George Lucas, Cinescape, 2002 "I don't read that stuff. I haven't read any of the novels. I don’t know anything about that world. That's a different world than my world. But I do try to keep it Consistent. The way I do it now is they have a Star Wars Encyclopedia. So if l come up with a name or something else, I look it up and see if it has already been used. When I said [other people] could make their own Star Wars stories, we decided that, like Star Trek, we would have two universes: My universe and then this other one. They try to make their universe as consistent with mine as possible, but obviously they get enthusiastic and want to go off in other directions. "n - George Lucas, Starlog, August 2005 "But there's three worlds: There's my world that I made up, there's the licensing world that's the books, the comics, all that kind of stuff, the games, which is their world, and then there's the fans' world, which is also very rich in imagination, but they don't always mesh. All I'm in charge of is my world. I can't be in charge of those other people's world, because I can't keep up with it."- George Lucas, Flannelled One, Mar. 2008 The Disney Canon is an Alternate Timeline to the events of The G-Canon & The T-Canon when George Lucas sold Star Wars to Disney, it is where stuff like Star Wars Rebels, The Mandalorian, and those other shows or The Filoni-Verse as I like to call it 😂 😂 😂 & The Disney Star Wars Sequel Trilogy 🤢 🤮, & and all other Disney Star Wars Products take place. It isn’t just another simple alternate timeline though as Disney decanonized the Star Wars multiverse canon system as we knew it when they bought Star Wars from George Lucas. Disney Lucasfilm created a one timeline system for The Disney Canon where they now do what they do. So now Disney Star Wars is the new current Star Wars Universe that we continue to witness currently in Modern Star Wars products. Many people don’t want to admit that the canon hierarchy is an extension of The Star Wars Multiverse with George Lucas’s G-Canon films 1-6 being our universe-1 so to speak. Stuff like The T Canon (TCW) being Filoni’s continuity or The Filoniverse , The S Canon or The C Canon (EU) is not just apart of a wider universe but wider multiverse as well. He once said to me that there are two Star Trek universes: there’s the TV show and then there’s all the spin-offs. He said that these were completely different and didn’t have anything to do with each other. So I said, ‘OK, go ahead.’” - George Lucas, Total Film, May 2007 When people don’t know this or don’t want to accepted a lot of confusion happens in the fandom over what matters and what doesn’t. This isn’t me saying George didn’t care about the EU or that it’s not important this is me filling in the facts, the concept of parallel universes or a multiverse for different specific continuities has been there since the start of the EU so fans can tell their own Star Wars stories while George can tell his own Star Wars stories since he is the head of Star Wars. Disney trying to make this all one timeline and just erasing other Star Wars continuities is contradictory to George’s approach with Star Wars. Fun fact The early Clone Wars that came out before Revenge Of The Sith, Star Wars Clone Wars (2003) by Genndy Tartakovsky was originally apart of The G-Canon because under George’s direction it was meant to explore The Clone Wars at the time, George & Filoni’s TCW was also meant to be an extension of that original show but it ended up just being added to The EU as a Secondary Canon or C Canon over time. Now this is my more speculation approach To The Star Wars Multiverse with facts and opinions of what happened in it. The G-Canon which is George’s personal canon is episodes 1-6, his ideas and plans for 7-9 and his ideas of what came before the events of episode 1. Sometimes he includes The TCW(2008) show but while mostly a great masterpiece that show still has its own inconsistencies. He also originally included the (2003) clone wars show back during the run of the prequels and they still match a lot with the continuity of the films so they’re technically still canon but toward the later half of them like TCW has inconsistencies that can’t be un noticed. The EU is Universe Two of The Star Wars Multiverse where all the old iconic Star Wars books, games, and such come from and the events of the 2003 show coexist in this universe as well but the first two universes have a few events that co exist. Star Wars TCW (2008) from the end of season 5 -7 kinda branches off into the Disney canon timeline, as in George’s original vision Ahsoka would’ve died in Order 66, furthering Anakin’s fall to the Darkside so that happened in The G-Canon but in Pre Disney Canon when George was about to sell Star Wars To Disney Filoni made Ahsoka a survival arc because he was in the Ahsoka lives camp. Their are a few other things which cause inconsistencies by the end of season 5 to season 7 but I won’t get into that. That alternate timeline which lead to The Disney Canon continued with Star Wars Rebels and later Star Wars Resistance leading to the infamous Disney trilogy (famous if you like it.) So yeah we have three main universes. G-Canon, EU , & Disney Canon and a multitude of minor alternate timelines inbetween all of them.

If you watch the colour of Anikin's eyes they weren't changed after he slaughtered the Tuskin Raiders, nor when he marched into the Jedi Temple nor after the slaughter of the younglings, so I was wrong about that, but it was by the end of him slaughtering the leaders of the trade federation on Mustafar. If you watch the scene he stars crying out as he slays some of them, his eyes still normal, but by the end he after he slays the last one he turns around and its revealed his eyes are now changed. He finally became fully lost to the darkside. There is argument tho that it was after his raid on the Jedi Temple when he neals before Palpatine and is dubbed Darth Vador. But Personally I believe that one can channel either side of the force while maintaining their control, look at Mace Windu and Lord Dooku for proof as they both channel the darkside Mace while light saber fighting and Dooku was being trained in the Dark Arts yet not once is he ever depicted as having Sith Eyes.

The idea that Hiroshima and Nagasaki were purely civilian targets is wrong. Both were military targets with large civilian population. Hiroshima was of considerable military importance. It housed the 2nd Army Headquarters, this was the command centre for the south Japans the defense. It was also a communications center, a storage point, and an assembly point for troops. Nagasaki was one of southern Japan's largest sea ports and it's various industries included the production of ordnance, ships and other military equipment

Anakin was the chosen one to bring balance to the force. Did this mean the destruction of the dark side to the hopes of the Jedi? Or did this mean the destruction of both the Jedi and the Sith? If balance meant eliminating the polar power struggle between the light and dark sides thus reducing the galactic conflicts of force users, then this could be considered a success.

Also, he never really liked Jedi younglings. When he joined the Order at the age of 9, many other padawans, who were raised up in the Temple kinda bullied him for coming from the outside world and being a slave... and he never had a chance for a comeback. I guessed he never could get that grudge against them to go away.

No matter how I try to wrap my head around it, I still can't get why Anakin would murder the younglings the way he did. In good fiction, characters are multi-dimensional, believable, and their behaviours and reactions are internally consistent. I have always felt this is where the writing fell apart: Anakin had clear flaws and strengths, but particularly wanted to do what he felt was right, so it was so out of character for him to murder children. He was convinced the Jedi had become corrupt and were no longer fit to lead, but it still doesn't make sense that he would so quickly and easily go along with murdering every single youngling. If the movies had portrayed him struggling with the decision, and we had seen his reasoning, I would have had less problems with it.
