so finally I managed to get the suit finished off, there was a few times I nearly gave in.
now I have it at the stage I'm going to paint it.
thanks to DO3D.com for such an awesome project, so if you are new to 3d printing and you just want to print something that has files already created.
this should be your first stop.
they have a large selection of cosplay and other items for you to get your hands on.
my colour theme will be the same as left leg, white, metallic blue and gold.
so hopefully in the next couple of months I can get it painted and let you see it fully completed.

This was made completely on a 3d printer about the size of a microwave oven. 3d printers are the best invention/tools of this century, crazy amazing tools, so much fun, and allows you to make anything in the world, even from taking a few pictures of something and turning it into a 3d model. You can bury the parts in sand, pour in hot metal and turn your 3d print into solid metal, its awesome. You can turn any idea into a real device using one software to convert your idea into a drawing then turn the drawing into a code for the printer to follow, just like a sat nav. Best thing is, you get to just chill while it makes the thing for you lol

This is awesome Darren - checked out all these vids. Know you’ve done kinda one and plus suits but was wondering how much filament this build’s taken? Also, how big’s your build plate on the printer? Looks amazing though!

It has taken 17 rolls to complete my build, there was loads of support material and raft material included in that aswell and some prints I done before changing size and re-printing. My build plate is 300x300x400 In total it has cost me around £1000 including buying the printer, filament, paint, primer, magnets, led lights. And over a couple of thousand hours, so it is an epic project to attempt but at the end it's crazy cool. If I bought cheap and already had a printer, and was sure what size you were going to print everything in... I would say this suit could be built for £500 UK. BUT... cheaper filament, strength would suffer, I used PLA PLUS, £25-45 per roll but prices had skyrocketed as the pandemic hit when i started this project and filament prices went through the roof and still are. I also bought a hot stapler to make suit stronger, palm sander, wood burning kit to plastic weld joints, 3d printing pen for filling and building up areas, rechargeable cordless airbrush kit for painting everything that's not white, loads of glue, I used UHU glue as it turned out to work the best around, 4 large tubes of it lol. Electricity bill was noticeably bigger but printer was running night and day non stop everyday. I hope this breaks everything down for you so you know what a task this is. Oh and space, you will need loads of space lol 👍👍👍

And those pictures were taken because I have the suit up for swaps on a website and they need to see what it looks like. Swap value of £215 It cost me over £1000 to make And over 2500 hours, at even £1 an hour thats ,£3500 worth. Not bad for £215 Now watch everyone cry when they find out they could of swapped me a towbar and electrics for my car lol Tears will be streaming

was the suit printed at 100% and also how tall are you?
@oraclescave
@oraclescave 3 года назад
I'm 6 foot tall The body section i made was 110% But arms, legs, shoes were all 100% And I still had to trim the legs at the top to fit. I had given up with this project, I also put it up on Gumtree trying to get a swap offer, but not many people interested at all. Decided to start painting it yesterday, and it is already looking very cool. But I am going to advertise it for a swap for an electric scooter or petrol dirt bike so fingers crossed somebody wants it.
