*"Monopolists pretend that they’re not monopolists (“Don’t regulate us!”) and non-monopolists pretend that they are (“We are so big and important!”). Monopolists have to pretend that they are small and things are enormously competitive, while non-monopolists have to pretend they are large players with a permanent edge."* - _Peter Thiel_
What an inspiration, the power of focus, through implementing the 1 page transformational agenda, suggested by his friend, michael dell on a bike ride was great! The power of peer to peer collaberation transcends so many management attributes no matter where you are in your career.
In my country. Many people wants to go to starbucks. But its not the coffee actually. It is because they want to tell the people around that they cam afford it. Its like apple company.
I have a coffee in korea and in england its is different. In Asia these American thing are symbol of trendiness. But in europe its just a coffee some relaxing spaces. But still, theStarbucks experience isnt too bad.
Do you live in Brazil? Because here is right that way... I think that isn't a good thing. Starbucks has a good coffe and that should be enjoy, don't just the status quo to drink in the company...
Howard Schultz is a human that we all should emulate and learn from. Humble, articulate and kind hearted person. Have touched and helped millions of people around the world....Thank you, Howard.
That quote seemed so strange and business-schooly, (we are business people serving coffee, the implication being that it's about profit and a good business model) that I felt like it couldn't be Howard's. It wasn't lol.. he said: 'We've never been in the coffee business serving people, we've always been in the people business serving coffee.' Perfectly normal that a YT commenter makes a mistake but a bit weird that this channel liked it. Maybe pay more attention to what your speakers are saying.. or perhaps some social media person runs the channel.
@@RJYounglingTricking Exactly, and thumbs up from Kenya, RJ Youngling! I always admired how Howard Schultz spoke as a leader (hopefully I'm not fooled by the cover of the book) and he always emphasized that Starbucks is about people i.e the hospitality. I definitely felt that difference when I lived near two coffee shops in the US. In one (unnamed) shop, the servers were slightly rude. In Starbucks, they remembered your name and made you feel at home! Starbucks coffee was a bit more expensive, and the shop slightly further down the road, but I went there because that hospitality started my day off right.
This is fantastic! I have a new found respect for the CEO of Starbucks. I am in the business of helping owners train leaders so that they can have the flexibility to do what Howard is trying to accomplish at such a high level. Great interview!!
He is just admirable~ I have been a Starbucks fan since 1997! :) I am manifesting all the great visions he has set, the missions they put their hearts into and have succeeded over wise thinking, planning, executing and dedicating to the objectives, new goals, solid commitment and their roles into going back to the CORE of the business and their VALUES so that the reality and success became the outcome from it all! I feel and see it already- I am manifesting all these!
It was great experience to listen to man of such great stature ,wasn't aware about him earlier ,,but after listening him ,i have instantly become his fan,❤ his insights for business is just very unusual and the way he shared his thoughts and emphasised on LOVE AND HOW BUSINESS is collaborative is really the reflection of his depth💓lots of love from india
I like the personality and the way he explains things including the Starbucks plan, the value of humanity. yet the objective of a company is to maximize the profit, this cannot be done without collaboration in a team. well said

Man Howard I’m telling you, if you just upped the hourly pay from 9.50 to around 14-15 and kept the other benefits...NO ONE would EVER want to leave. It would be perfect.
Here in Brazil, as a "coffee country", we drink 8, 9 or even 10 cups of coffee per day, we like the "old school coffee", that one you do at home, so to make some profit in Brazil, they had to keep the prices down, so here in Brazil, Starbucks is acutally cheap! I've drank some cups of coffee in a Starbucks in Manchester, I actually liked the coffee, a little expensive, but it was relatively good but I also drank a cup of coffee in London, and I didn't like at all!
It doesn't matter what the prices are. If people are willing to pay for it, then you have a market. Anyway, you're not just "buying a coffee". You're buying the Starbucks experience, which for certain people, means "warmth" and 'community" and "routine". If I take the exact contents ina Starbucks coffee and dump it into a plastic cup, and sell it to a Starbucks customer, they won't buy it.
Great thoughts and insights... No Organizations will succeed without embracing change in the rise of networking and collaboration...Turn pages and go forward smarter and faster... make real progress by looking at more than your numbers...ask the people at all levels on what is your culture -- does it align to the values, vision and mission to your purpose of your business...
could anyone write down what they told in english? like subtitle.. i really need it for my english study.. i really want to understand what they are talking about.
In uk some starbucks are horrible. Customer service in Windsor's starbucks is so low and rude. I never go there anymore. Only costa and cafe nero I use.

CEO Mark Parker earned $14.53 million last year. While Vietnamese Nike worker make 34 cents per hour. It would take them 20,435 years to match Mark's level.
FidelCastro128 you know what I realized about the world thing the whole God will supposed to be factor at any level, you cannot compare it's why people do what they do and like what they do when it's like, hey you can go paragliding for like $5k and the feeling of flying is sooooo much better than anything but to someone else buying $5k clothes is soooooooooo much better than anything but it's more like preferred $5k this thing than $50k that thing and it isn't "afford" being the reason it just is better having the $5k thing than the $50k thing and the $50k thing is not superior like having better technology or safety feature but people back down because they think having basic is ok until there is an accident where that safety feature that went Above basic was important and saved their life or their limbs or any serious long-term injury prevented
Bovine Growth Hormone milk has been proven to contain puss it's filtered out but still just the thought of drinking puss is very unappealing to say the least.Thats what starbucks serves and they're fighting the legislation that would require them to inform the customers of the GM milk they use.
I quote again, “It’s a farce to claim to be offering ‘free college’ to employees when what’s being offered is simply the chance to pursue a degree at one specific university, only online, only if you enroll full time and work at least 20 hours a week,” Dr. Sara Goldrick-Rab,
"We've never been on the coffee business serving people, but we've always been in the business people serving coffee". If howard did not say it... who did?

yup. very interesting. I quote, Howard Schultz pays himself over $9200/hr, the highest CEO pay in the industry. He pays Starbucks workers an average of $8.79 an hour, amongst the lowest of major US employers. What's wrong with this picture?
***** Why as a society would we let him keep all that loot while millions of Americans are in poverty? Just like he stole and looted. The lesson is clear. Take it back using the power of the vote. We owe him nothing at all. The folks who worship him should be sold to him and he get full ownership because they are slaves. I'd sign it myself.
+Johnny bizaro Loot? He grew up dirt poor. All the money he that he has he earned through his hard work. You nor anyone else has any right to take the money he has earned through his work. He rose from poverty to riches, let anyone else living in poverty do the same if they are willing to work hard.
Just saying ... if you like drinking good coffee - drinking black is prefered - adding sugar and milk isn't bad but should be only reason the coffee is good
He is one in a million, best among many, most trusted , I almost gave up on trading then I met him through a friend, Austin is the most trusted trading expert who helped the life of my family and I ,
How nice it is that this man Howard Schultz was allowed his God given rights as an American in order to become successful. Success is more than $. As a victim of 22 yrs of ongoing Technological Torture in America I take great exception to his making money at my life's expense. Morally and ethically Mr. Schultz has an obligation. With more money comes more responsibility. Where has this man been for 22 yrs while his customers use my body as a human target to put their name on a claim? And the two eyes in my head say they spend it at Starbucks In Washington they voted $30. per year license tabs. But I estimate they spend at least $6,000. per yr at Starbucks. Howard who supplie(d)s a tremendous amount of retail franchises must use the roads considerably to his profitable business benefit. So why didn't Howard Schultz who has been SO successful, tell the WA ST Gov their response "you just won't get your roads paved" after the Tim Eyman initiative was unacceptable? No wonder you were successful. You partake in the practice of niggaring and I am convinced that is the only way to prosper in America these days. Who in the hell do you think you are, Jesus Christ, you must have a horrible Tea complexity. Now. Stop this crime. P. S. Ask the new CEO from Microsoft how are the customers paying? Fictitious money? And how much money from license tabs in WA goes towards small business?
