i work at a starbucks and let me tell you we are too busy minding our own business to actually notice who bought a drink and who didnt. tons of people loiter in our store using up the wi-fi & slowing it down for paying customers, which is kind of unfair for them, but we never do anything bc honestly i dont get paid enough to start a confrontation lol

I'm Mexican, and the number of time's I've received the same bad treatment at different establishments from employees/managers of different ethnicities including my own, is more common for me than the average person. One time I was even asked to leave the premises after purchasing a drink and a pastry from Starbucks by the shift manager (white guy) because according to him, I've been there long enough and I had to allow other people to sit there. I had been there for maybe 20 minutes after waiting 10 mins for my order because they were busy. I asked if he went around telling everyone who's been there for a while to leave or if it was just me because I was Mexican? I can tell I caught him off guard with that question because he immediately started telling me how he his best friend was Mexican, to me that was a clear sign of guilt. I asked him if I could speak to the person above him and he gave me the customer service number which I called in front of him on speaker and the customer service lady told him that he should be ashamed of himself for acting in that manner and that starbuck's does not have a time limit for any paying customer or non paying customer. The feeling I felt as she was telling him that was awesome and watching him turn from pale white to bright pink was priceless! The customer service lady then asked for my address and told me that she would be sending me a gift card for $25 and that she would be alerting the owner of that starbuck's about the incident with that manager to get him more training on customer service, I was so happy how customer service handled it and for that reason even though I don't really like coffee I still am a loyal customer.

I'm an Asian immigrant who came to the states when I was 16. Growing up and living in midwest, I did experience lots of racism last 20 yrs. It didnt matter to them how hard I worked to become a doctor, what kind of person I was, how much I contributed to the society... racism that I experienced was purely based on my skin color and accent. And I hate to say it but probably 80-90% of my unpleasant experience was by other minorities such as blacks, Hispanics and even other asians. Yes, some Asians actually treat white customers with more respect than other asian customers
