Love it! Another secretly awesome unit is the medic. Ultimate anti-harassment unit. Research optical flare asap and blind those pesky flying units. With there sight reduced to 0 they are rendered useless! Bye bye Oracles, Liberators Banshees, scouting overlords and probably a ton more that I'm forgetting
sair/reaver is definitely the way to go in SC2. without the missed shots, the reaver is completely OP lol As an old-school broodwar guy Im loving the content!
Not to mention the improved pathing also makes armies clump up a lot more, making AoE super effective compared to BW where units would tend to string out
I remember the first time I ever played ladder on BW in the early 2000's. First map I got hit with what I can only assume was a proxy firebat. Immediately died and went back to my custom games and nr 15 3v3's lmao
@@EdselsBakedGoods You gotta set that up before hitting start, man. I would immediately rush anyone who made up rules after the game started because I assume they'd rush me.
Watched ZvZ in some Korean channels, looks absolutely brutal for BW Z due to lack of banelings early on, and can't deal with frenzied Ultralisks in late game.
My brother, you forsake the use of dark swarm. You got shot to pieces in that Zerg game because you didn't use the spell that makes bullets not do anything. SC2 players would have no clue what to do against defilers so I am REALLY looking forward to the video where you figure out how to defile your opponents.
@@balazsfenyes3880 imo, that spell was.made when dev think all.player are not great and rarely use spell. So they just make a mage unit, not too slow, can absord energy and can use spell to negate all range unit. Guest what? Almost all unit of terran is range! And guest more; ultralist is melee unit..
Unsieged Tanks in SC1 were a viable strat, 2 6 unit control groups of siege tanks usually with 3-4 science vessel in another control group. Unsiege 1 tank group, shield them and have them push up A-move, have second group move in and siege up, rotate. Your 4th group was either Ghosts or marines/medics depending on what you were fighting.
Omg that ending! So funny! I could yell your opponent was completely lost as to what to do. I can hear it now "what do I do!?" I mean who would have thought that corsairs counter swarm host locusts so hard? I mean I guess nobody in their right mind would make swarm hosts against phoenix and the element of surprise and confusion from not knowing the units well enough is clearly what won the game, but still.
A lot of the streamers haven't displayed the power of many of the BW units in this mod, glad to see firebats finally getting a highlight. Spellcasters are so OP from BW in this mod, I've seen very little Ghost/Science Vessel play from the terrans, no defiler play from Zergs, and just a small taste of Maelstrom/Mind Control/Storm/Stasis/Disruption Web from Protoss.
From memory, the Corsair attack is an AoE (multiple targets). So having 4-5 corsairs roaming for Overlords was one of my fav pass times.. and if you found a group stacked up.. ohh.. juicy =P Guardians work well in mass.. fly a heap of Muta over and convert them near their base, more the merrier with air support as backup
That reaver shot must have hurt bad for those drones. I still have not seen anyone use one of the most important zerg late game units the defiler. If you play zerg againg I would love to see it. Awesome games man.
Other people have replays using defilers. You'll probably see one of them eventually. Dark swarm is as good as you think, though some things are a little counterintuitive about it. Namely things like disruptors and banelings.
the amount of splash options in SC2 makes Dark Swarm a little less effective, though Plague is still a good option, if a bit limited due to Consume being a bit too slow than it should be making the Defiler a bit clumsy of a unit to use.
Cool video. Guardians are typically used as stage 2 of a mutalisk all-in, so you rush the spire. You typically morph them either behind/close to the mineral line to harass or just far enough away to not be spotted, combining it with a hydralisk switch for a final all-in attack.
Against mass marines, you NEED Queens. Ensnare is so friggin' good at stopping them from getting in and slowing their DPR down. Though frankly, you're up against marines, you need upgrades to not get owned.
Best Starcraft 1 Strat is the Artosis 2base vs 8 base tank/vulture turtle where you call your opponent a piece of shit clown when he attacks and crushes you.
Hi Marc! Fantastic video as always :) I have a request/video idea: after your challenges vs the best players in the world (where you give them a handicap after each victory), I would love to see a video where you explain to us noobs what Serral does to make him seem so invulnerable, what Maxpax does to lose a bunch of encounters then roll you over. Why couldn't you do what they do, what aspects of it seem out of reach?
I think it was the TY vs Dark Evo mod match where TY clinched it in the last fight with a Marine-Firebat-Medic rush, and the Firebats were the MVP. I never could imagine Firebats having an impact like that in a million years.
FIREBAT? PROTOSS? GOOD? WTF Also crazy how this video featured firebats, guardians, and the shield battery to a lesser extent popping off despite them being considered bad in Brood War. Reaver popped off like expected.
Someone forgot to mention to uthermal the classic broodwar saying, "zerg builds guardians when they want to lose". Guardians in pro BW have an absolutely abysmal win rate, so much so that whenever a zerg builds them, its almost guarantee they lose.
The Guardians game was really interesting, they're very powerful and long range, but super slow. Scourge is very powerful, but expensive for a one time use unit.
BW shield batteries can indeed heal multiple at the same time, they're just too niche in comparison to cannons that nobody really builds any. Plus, they don't work on buildings.
Yeah. Personally, I think BW Zerg most disgusting power are their spellcasters. Queen can slow down an army and make them as easy targets. And I have to mention my favorite BW Zerg unit, the devourer. One splash or their skill will corrorde those armies really fast.
Good man! What would you say to play TvP but you make science vessel with broodwar EMP and Nukes + blind observers. Wonder if it works vs sc2 protoss :D
I will never understand what was ANYONE thinking when making Starcraft 2 Firebat. It can't tank, it takes 5 years to wind up the attack, it deals no damage, it walks slow, and it costs a fortune. Like how did anyone look at starcraft 1 firebat and thought that any of it is a good adaptation of the unit
Spellcasters in BW are incredibly hard to use. On SC2 engine i've seen storms being thrown the most, but you can get a lot from spells rarely used in BW. And all other spellcasters are great (except corsairs) and harder to snipe than the slow and flimsy High Templars. Corsairs would be great too, but Disruption Web + Fleet Beakon costs 500-400 (or 200-200 if you had the building already).
Sometimes your videos don't show under my subscription videos. Its happened a few times, I only ever seem to notice it with your channel. Lovin' the BW mod content =)
To those who have played this mod, did the BW firebat retain its 3-hit damage? Supposedly it's just 2x8 concussive damage, but it can hit thrice sometimes due to splash damage. Also, thanks uThermal for this content, loved watching it :)
If terran SC1 vs other units in SC2: - Science vessel: very imba with Defensive matrix (250 HP absorb) & EMP (0 shield and 0 mana instant) - Ghost: with Lock
Vultures seem obscenely strong against SC2 Protoss, because I believe Stalkers count as medium against their attacks? So they do decent damage to all Gateway units and are faster.
I was watching Artosis complain about how impossible it is to win as BW Terran vs SC2 Toss, but he refused to do anything other than the standard BW build. Like bro, you're playing against a completely different race at this point. You can't blindly do what was viable in the previous version of the game.
Hey Marc, what's the hotkey message at the beginning about? Do you deliberately unbind something? Honestly curious, after 12 years I could still stand to improve A LOT
