Karax could easily defend expos and bases with superior static D and support you with the spear of Adun while you push, phoenixes are trash for something this hard imo.

I took me a couple attempts. . . The first attempt at the game I remember I just started laughing as the waves of units kept coming and coming!

I was around my 10th attempt when i beat this mutation on brutal. I had vorazun and my teammate had karax. I clear up the rifts and he only made static defenses. As we advance through the map, he set up defenses more and more foward. By the end o the game, half of the map had defenses and the rifts died almost instantly.

It's super impressive how well you play this game and have to think about all these things at once while hitting all quick keys.

Man, these seem like so much fun. I tend to always be 1 expansion behind, though, as I bought HoTS a few months before LoTV came out.

If you were curious Karax is basically protoss Swann in regards to army. Instead of a laser drill he has extra good spear of adun abilities but to compensate all his units are more expensive. The most important thing to know when playing with him is that his chrono wave is a 500% boost to production and upgrade speed for all buildings. He can also heal mechanical for free but since you main zerg it probably won't help you much.

I finished this mutation the other day with Abathur on normal and i didn´t expected to be so intense. Had a lot of fun, tough my coop partner got completely overwhelmed.

This reminds me of playing last levels of old rts games on hard difficulty. You are thrown against impossible odds with relentless waves barreling down on you. Haven't beaten this yet and likely never will, but it was nice being really challenged by co-op for the first time.

That mutation is by far the hardest mission so far, the small shards respawn so fast you actually can't do a whole lot, found the easiest commander combination is Abathur and Karax, Karax going for static defenses while Abathur's units clean up, but it's still really tough. Like it!

i made this mission with kerrigen and raynor (both lvl 30-35) and it was so ez in the beginning just add some bunker as raynor and with kerrigen 2 hit the rifts works pretty well!

Here is the strategy we used to get through that. Karax + Raynor. Karax - only static defense. Defending 3 bases. Raynor - 3 bases + command centers (mules). Raynor cleaning everything. In the meantime - as Karax you upgrade your sky and being a support for raynor in the field :-)

As a new player, I couldn't really find any build orders for Abathur beyond the little excerpt from Fezvez. Is there anything you can recommend? I'm having a bit of confusion of when to make Queens in the mix of the roaches.

Agreed, it is by far the most difficult mutation to date. Took my bro and I probably 6 tries to beat it on brutal.

You mentioned you were unfamiliar with Karax. He's got a lot of the campaign's Purifier faction units including rezzing Zealots ,Bloodlust Sentries, and Pheonixes that can lift and fire at the same time. I feel his most powerful thing is the Reconstruction Beam, which heals 3 (eventually 4) allied mechanical units for 5/second or structures for 10/second. He brings a lot of map wide utility to the table, with the ability to spam orbital bombardment better than anyone else. All this together means Karax is great at static defense. What Karax would like to do is turtle up, tech up, and get double repair drone Carriers and slowly roll over the enemy.

I went Vorazun for this mutation. Had 2 small groups of DTs just running around and killing all the rifts :D and at that point this was not hard at all .... but it still took like 4-5 tries for me ^^

The technic is vorazun mass void rays and karax mass defences i finished it 3 times on bruta with this technique and a cool dude on battle net try it it works great

One of the problems you're having is that you frequently distribute biomass amongst your army, which you are supposed to avoid. Designate specific units to gather as much biomass as possible and keep them away from the bulk of enemies. All the other units who gather biomass will only waste progress because the enemies are killing them off too quickly, which results in loss of biomass and no Brutalisks or Leviathans. By not taking full advantage of one of Abathur's most important strengths results in a quick failure. Besides that you are performing fairly well, and it is pretty difficult to focus with the ridiculous flood of enemies you have to face in the early to mid game, but you were able to get those Brutalisks towards the end that helped you succeed. It'd be pretty useful if you could have an advisor to help keep track of details you would otherwise miss (basically a spectator that can see everything you can and communicate with you, if not someone sitting at the same computer). On a mission like this, especially with the mutation, it helps to have great communication and awareness of the field as much as possible.

I'd like to see you play this weeks mutation. Seems to be the same level of difficulty...

Vorazun OP, he wrecked and didn't even make corsair which are insanely powerful too.

Toxic nests spread creep? Or am I seeing that wrong? I have abathur now, my girlfriend bought him for me, but I've only played him twice and didn't really look at what all of his upgrades did or how his kit came together.

Im watching this as Im writing... but basically, to anyone who attempts this, sniping the void rifts is the biggest priority. You also need a decent amount of static defense at every entrance to your base. You get a considerable amount of time to kill the void shards (moreso than the regular brutal) so I cant stress enough that sniping the voidrifts is the main priority. Also, you cant be really greedy and take a quick 2nd, you'll need some troops first to hold against the rifts. Did this on hard and brutal, managed to one shot it on brutal as vorazun paired with artanis.

I got teamed with a random Zagara and i was Artanis. I went dragoon-tempest while he massed zergling baneling. I was careful to only hit shield over charge while he ran into bases/shards and his zerglings ate everything on the ground. then final push was a massive one and we clutched it at about 1min remaining. So mass zergling baneling with shield overcharge

Thinking Zagara's quick spawning army might be able to handle the aggression better than other commanders. Artanis too since he has max supply automatically at 15.

I feel like his allies could have done a better job with proper cannon placement. When they switched to Vorazon his ally could have done so much more with his dark archons, possessing *heavy air* units and *observers* creating a devastating ground and air army.

I found using Zahara on this was easiest for me. My partner didn't do to well, but with a high level Zag, spamming non stop zerglings/banelingd was pretty easy. Just need to have your partner do a little anti-air support.

I think that the mutation on Rak Shir was much harder, i wasnt even able to complete it on brutal. I did this on third attempt.

When you're playing I have a really hard time understanding why I can hear so many APM. For example you get your drone to build an extractor, I hear 8 button presses.

Does he not know how to use toxic nests You line them up for the attack wave then wait and manually activate when they are all on it because you get more biomass if the toxic nests kill it

I don't get it your teammate was a karax right? if so how does he have the stealth pylon ..and at the end it says it was vorzun? but she doesn't get capital ships tho... I'm lost there must've just been a 3 player co-op lol

i play zagara without AA normaly if my partner can go full AA and play on hard, but on this map i never get someone who speak on the chat, and never got to destroy the third set of void shards... at least on the mutation...

I think the best commander for this mutation would be Reynor, because of MULEs.

i feel like you missed an opportunity to say the first carrier has arrived....

i dunno, really, but i feel like the abby karax combo isn't really too good, maybe get a kerrigan instead of karax and have that early game superb unit that would help you a little bit more

Do vorazun and karax, karax makes defences while vorazun does dark Templar and stalkers, also make sure to make outpost with void pylons, but make sure to make a lot of dt and have your karax use his abilities to take out the air. Please for the love of Starcraft 2 do not play it on mutations on brutal if you aren't both 15 or above., Please. Also Make sure to always have shadow guard available so you can take out the 1st main objective, and void rifts. Of course there are other combinations that work really well too.

I play as karrigan, i have my teammate hold the line as i rush to lurker and then push out to kill the first shard. and then i get stuck and we both get overwhelm. if some1 can give strat =)

Karax is really strong,well first of all he has carriers,second he has near infinite shots when he maxed solar core,500% for 20 seconds extra speed,15% extra speed as passive,carriers can repair themselves,and he has this thing called unity shield which gives every created unit extra 10 not rechargable hitpoints Works wonders with interceptors.

karax's units cost way too much. Idealy you want a commander that can spawn something good early

it is easy wen you get zagara and doo alot of units and sending then (whithout stoping) to the battlefield and destroyng every building and enemy unit that is in the way
