Change Proposal: The routing of units should be based on the knowledge of the player, not on the current map. If one player breaks down rocks or builds buildings, this should not influence the routing of the other players armee, until the other player sees this.

Sure in a perfect game that would be the case however, it would require a full rework of the game engine. I also think that because it is there it is an additional level of skill expression because you can actively use it.

@@alanek7087 They'll pass through where the rocks "would have been" no matter if you know it or not; which is what Aiki dislikes (I'm in agreement). So the player who hasn't scouted will still take the best path, even though he shouldn't even know the path exists.

YES! This should go hand-in-hand with re-adding fog of war like SC1, where the map is black until you've scouted/scanned that area.

All capital ships, Mothership, Carrier, Tempest, Battlecruiser. And also maybe something like a Thor IF the Thor has been stationary for a certain time. Abduct is utterly broken and totally breaks my suspension of disbelief when they yoink the Mothership and instantly kill it.

Abduct slow-yoinks Massive units and the Viper is position locked while the slow-yoink is happening. A total removal of yoink for massive units would take too much away from vipers.

@nanopulp vipers already have too much, parasitic bomb and blinding cloud are both already insanely powerful and a HARD counter to light air units and siege tanks

@@nanopulp I like the slow yoink idea. Starcraft 2 has a lot of situations where your stuff dies instantly, so it's cool if you get a chance to react when your mothership gets pulled.

YES. EMP is the SO broken, it's so unfair that it's such a hard counter to Protoss, I mean shields are pretty much one of their only advantages and even then it mostly doesn't make a difference

For the carrier to make it more "microable". Add 'Evakuation' ability. CD 1sec. runs for 0.25 sec. makes interceptor transfering to an other carrier, if there original one gets destroyed within the time of the ability.

I always picture the Terran units like an Amazon product. Their stuff isn’t being “researched” so much as transferring funds to unlock additional functionality like that of a Tesla. So yeah the combat shields were always there, but they just didn’t have that subscription level.

Or maybe they don't have legal rights, so if they use combat shields before the relevant legislation is passed they aren't eligible for insurance.

My change would be reducing ghost attack damage (especially to light) to make it closer to a pure spellcaster. It shouldn't change TvP all too much, and in TvZ the ghost will still dominate hi-tech zerg, but it should make mass ghost more countered by ling-bane.

That's an option but I would rather see it remain true to Terran style of glass cannon units, so keep its damage but get a slight health nerf.

Change Propisal: Although only 10 shield difference, the zealot felt much scarier and durable when engaged in melee in Brood War. I always thought that kind of raw prowess was removed from the zealot in SC2. Other suggestion would be to make the Battlescruiser deal one powerful beam of damage as in Brood War but not be able to move and shoot.

Agreed, the zealot is way too weak. 99% of the time the Zealots are just a massive mineral donation, they accomplish nothing, kill nothing, and just derp around uselessly at the staggering cost of 100 minerals each

Protoss:- pylon overcharge -:- effective range all connected powerfields. Attribute:- +5 attack. Duration = to battery overcharge. Exclusions:- affected units depart powerfield or timer expires. Researched ability in Robotics Support Bay Research cost :- 125 mineral / 50 gas

Makes the observer obsolete in some circumstances, how about one of the following: zerg- brutalisks have additional hitpoints, or have a damage negating property/spell protoss- phoenixes do increased air damage terran- thors have increased movement speed (I haven't seen terran mech in a long while except mass mutalisks) @@LowkoTV

i would say maybe not balance, but quality of life that could help new players: enable a similar display of your production and your research progression. Obviously this could be enabled or not enabled optional to players. This wouldn't be a real change in pro play, but for normal people this could help a lot in the learning curve, knowing timings and to help them achieve a better multitasking. I get that knowing timings of the researchs is kinda of a skill, but i think it is not a necesarilly good for the game or the player kinda skill, only more practice and knowing.

Change proposal: Maybe Protoss needs a gateway unit that is more defensive in nature to help early game for Protoss. Then mid and late game are still preserved. So in that way early losses might not be as significant and help get away from Protoss feeling they need to cheese to win. And with maybe the ability to shoot up.

Suggestion: Increase swarm host speed to equal infestor speed (both on and off creep). The swarm host needs to be faster in general to fulfill its niche hit-and-run role without being slaughtered on the retreat if there's no nydus nearby. I'm suggesting to match infestor speed specifically because I think fungal/locust combos would be cool.

ghosts effects of emp now diminishes the further away from the targeted point of the emp. (e. g. removes only 40% of shields & energy at the edge of the radius)

SCVs have higher health to offset the fact that they can't regenerate health or shields. If they had the same health as Drones and Probes, Terrans would always lose worker vs. worker fights, which would make early game scouting harder, as well as make worker rushes against terrans a viable strategy (which would be very bad for balance).

@drarenthiralas583 I was even thinking buffing the SCV's hp to 60 like in brood war but I can see why that might be too much. Worker harassment (i.e oracle rush) would require more dps to be viable.

Unpopular Patch change suggestion: Reaper is now a Spellcaster Needs TechLab to be build, stats are the same except supply increases to 2, costs 100 minerals 50 gas, starts with 50/200 energy. "KD8 Charge" (the mine) still the same but costs 25 energy "Scan-nade" replaces the scan of the orbital command, cant be castet anywhere but has a range of 20, costs 50 energy. "Stun charge" throws a grenade that stuns ground and air units for 3 seconds, 9 range, dmg to a unit ends the stun, cost 75 energy. Just a suggestion, dont eat me, terrans :D Would love to know what yall think

ONE CHANGE: All combat units should have a toggle button that allows them to priority target workers over other combat units/buildings. This would massively increase the effectiveness of more expensive harassment units. Right now zealot run-bys are basically 1000 mineral donations, because a single spine crawler or a single Maraduer in a good choke point can distract the entire group of zealots.

A change I'd like to see is that Protoss shield upgrades add a defensive bonus to EMP on shields. So level 1 is 15% resistance to EMP. Level 2 is 30% and level 3 is 50% so Archons don't get completely countered by an EMP. Only having 10 health, they rely on their shields. I think this would be a pretty fair balance update but of course you'd need the Pro's, to weigh in on it.

A Crazy Balance Proposal: Make an upgrade in the robo bay that lets immortals shoot up. Whether that means it's a 'siege mode' and it can't shoot ground again until you toggle it off, idk. But I think it would be a massive upgrade that would also make some others come in, but it would change the Protoss meta up to have more options against mass BCs and Corruptors. An alternative upgrade for the immortal would be to makes their shields similar to the WoL hard shields. I'd say both upgrades should take a relatively long time to research. Another idea would be to give the DTs another spell to research. Like the one zeratul has inthe campaign that nullifies spore crawlers and overseerers for a short time? but again, these are super OP in a way I understand that this would be a major major meta change up and never happen. But it could make some interesting new strategies.

Suggestion: If a photon cannon is near a Nexus, you can use overcharge to increase attack speed. This should be a separate overcharge from battery overcharge so that they have separate cool downs.

An upgrade for the cyclones in the tech lab, that gives them splash damage in a small radius equal to %50 of their base damage. Maybe also bring back bonus damage to armored units instead of mechanical.

An increase to the max camera distance whilst playing would be a Chang I'd like to see, benefits everyone. If I has to be a unit I'd say reduced locust cool down for swarmhosts, either that or make locusts like interceptors but with a longer build time. No change to the locust behaviour or attack damage.

Balance Proposal: Make interceptors linger or attach themselves to existing carriers if the original falls, I think this would allow for a really over powered expensive late game unit to which Protoss would build towards giving some kind of reward for their limited build options and deviations. I think that Protoss are overall too balanced their basic units are not expensive/strong enough, I may be wrong but I see Protoss as late game powerhouses, Zerg early rushes and mass units, and Terran are more technical with their answers( splash damage, EMP, versatile basic unit marines) But right now there isn't really a moment when Protoss dominates, they are marginally strong, you can micro against them and even late game there are answers for everything they have.

update proposal: protoss new defense structure rip shield generator: when activated, will damage and slowdown units with no shield (ally or enemy)overtime in an area the size of a pylon build area. Only three rip shields cam be built

Not a balance change, but a new mechanic I'd add: Echoes of the Void: by tapping the dark energies of a xel'naga temporal crystal- once per game, the player may rewind time by 30 seconds. Everything returns to where it was, like going back in a replay. The possibilities would literally be endless. Do you use it in the early game if you get caught unawares by a particularly nasty cheese? Do you save it for a major engagement, to try a different approach if you lose the battle decisively? It would be a precious resource. The fact that it can only be used once in a match would keep it well balanced, and 30 seconds isn't enough to completely turn the tables. But the ability to withdrawal from a battle you would've been crushed in, or to escape a devastating ambush would add a layer of strategic depth to the game.

If I could make one singular balance update it would be this. Lurker - Damage reduced by 4 afaik this will still make the lurker a very powerful unit doing a lot of damage but it will require one extra spine to kill certain units allowing players to more easily engage lurkers without a direct lurker counter (air units or Ghost snipes) and would force zergs to either build more lurkers to get the same effect out of them or to not use lurkers as their main army unit.

update proposal: templars have now an AOE ability to give units temporary sheild for ten seconds. 25 shield is immediately given and another 10 per second afterwards upto 80 shield max

Revert EMP range to 1.75. But give it to the raven. Also the cast range should be bigger than infestors or vipers but equal range with high templar. This forces raven use in every matchup while keeping ghost relevant in tvz without nerfing it

Change Proposal: Pilon Overcharge increased +15 shields to any units in range and +30 to any building, as long as the Pilon is connected to a nexus with at least 30 energy points. (The protoss creep)

Balance change: Update the nexus with a 6(ish) radius area that boosts static defense a bit when built inside of it while reversing that effect when built outside of it. For instance cannons build one second faster in this defensive radius but build one second slower outside of it. Really the big difference I initially thought of was this purely applied to shield batteries. They could build a bit faster and have a bit more spawning energy when in this radius and build a bit slower and with a bit less energy when made outside of it. Maybe both, maybe just one. This increases early game survivability while making it hard to utilize offensively. I main Zerg (FOR THE SWARM!!) and I hate cannon rushes. It seems like this will weaken cannon rushes, especially their sustain since my main focus is on shield batteries, but will increase Protoss early game survivability, hopefully converting some of the cannon rush or die people into reasonable regular players. I'm not sure where the exact balance can be found here on the give and take. Maybe there should be more defensive value gotten then offensive value lost idk. I agree that the early game for protoss should be more forgiving but this also weakens the most annoying cheese in the game. Hey Lowko! I think you got me to write my first youtube comment! I think a cool idea would be the ability from the campaign to give Protoss mechanical units regen, give them more survivability in the long term after a fight so your not just going to see them immediately fall over when shields get dropped in the next fight and makes Ghost less of a lethal threat to them with EMPs

Change Proposal: Medivac healing quotient different for marine, marauder, ghost, even scv (healing upgrade more plausible), and crucial for terran player to composition their army with good no of medivac, rather than always X no of medivac universally good with mass marine Vs mass ghost Vs mass marauder

I think a good buff for protoss early is removing all together the warpgate upgrade and make is a base one. That would require 50 less gas for any thing the protoss want to go for and open more build

Increase viper pull range but make the pull scale with unit size. So larger units are harder to yank all the way across the map but small spellcasters are more vulnerable

I think voidrays should be built slightly faster. My main issue with the voidray first opening is it delays your oricals Another change could be resort broodlords to before this most recent patch. They seem practically useless unless your micro is on point.

Just as a shot in the dark, but I wonder about cleave damage on Zealots. This would work a lot like the Ultralisk's attack on a much smaller degree. Since I know from arcade experience how quickly stuff like this can add up on units strong in numbers it would have to be a small amount of cleave damage so perhaps just 1 damage to enemy units next to the unit the zealot is attacking. Which is still *more* than enough to add up when the Zealots attack in force

Zerg is the Swarm by the lore, isn't it? so my balance rework suggestion is to make a Hive tech research (Hydralisk Den, approx. 450 cash, 350 gas, 120 seconds) that makes Hydralisks spawn in couples. yeah, 100 cash, 50 gas, 2 food, and 1 larva for 2 Hydras instead of 1. possibly will be OP but i don't really care.

What if damage scaled with %HP? Not 1:1, but like 50% health gives a 10-15% reduction in damage.

Protoss needs something for base defence. Shield battery has limited use and can't be much changed. Some unit that is binded to Nexus. This could empower Toss tendency to expand fatser. I think that Toss expanding faster than Zerg might be what is needed for Toss to win.

Yes Protoss static defense is pathetic, Protoss defense in general is so bad that they only seem to do well when they are ultra aggressive and never fight any battles on their side of the map

My only wish would be for zergs to have a real anti air unit. Something that you could build to handle medivac drops well. Hydras come too late and don't do the job well anyway.

Increase the rate that the nexus generates energy. Then protoss can chronoboost more to help the early game either by boosting out more workers to keep up in economy with zerg and terran or boosting out more early units

I believe I would decrease splash damage in general. Is deeply frustrating when you have a big army and you get smashed in 2 seconds because your units are hit by tanks, banelings or disruptors. I know is a skill issue, but makes the game very frustrating for anyone who is bellow grandmasters league. Try it for a few tournments and them see if it works.

I think the Widow Mines need some type of nerf. Perhaps an increase in the Attack Time so they're easier to avoid or split against. They seem to do plenty of damage and execute a mineral line much more effectively than Banelings now for just 25 more Minerals and are able to blast Air and Ground.

1 balance line? Hmmm.. The Protoss Scout has been added to the game. Give them the stats and such of the SC1 version except lower mineral cost to 250 so it is exactly double the gas cost, and give their ground attack a damage of 8(+8 vs light) with +1(+1) per upgrade. Add the sight and speed upgrades to the Fleet Beacon research options. It's my favorite unit, okay, I just want to use it without having to play with all of the other jank in SC1's game engine. And no, Fenix in Co-op does not count, his Scouts are much lighter units with half the shields and hp and they just aren't the same. Scouts in SC1 are heavily tanky air domination units compared to the air options of the other races, they are called "Scouts" and are to the Protoss but the whole identity of the Protoss is that even their lighter units are much heavier than other races' units.

I would totally divide the Ghost kit into to different units, one for sniping, stealth and nukes and the other for the EMP, mybe using the old medic on foot model. Ghost are too powerful

Give Dark Swarm back to some unit. Maybe Ultras, maybe DTs, or some underrated unit.

So make Ultras like Colossi, where ground units can pass "under" them, but those ground units also take reduced damage from air/ranged, or negate splash damage? I like the idea, but you'd have to nerf the Zerg spellcasters to make up for it, something I also like because Zerg needs a higher skill floor and lower skill ceiling: it's too hard for newbies to play Zerg, but at the highest levels the ceiling is clearly very high. That's the main issue with balance: there isn't really one unit or race that's completely OP at this point, so tweaks need to touch multiple units, such that a nerf to one requires a buff somewhere else.

Change idea: give banshees like 5 extra health. Idk I just want banshee to have more a mid game potential than just only two at the beginning like they were the old cyclone.

If I could have one change in the game, it's that it would be at least 15% more fun to watch. I only really watch the game, so I can't really ask for anything else. Of course, it wouldn't change how often I watch it. I just think 15% more fun is better than 0% more fun.

Patch - all future balance changes will not take into account the highest levels of players to balance the races/maps (Honestly, who thought it was a good idea to balance the entire game around one jerk whos to good for his own good? Reward him for his skill not punish it)
