"Are you still suspicious that I'll kill (Mengsk) for abandoning me to the Zerg? I've gotten over it, Jim." Has an entire Campaign in SC2 with the single purpose of killing Mengsk.
@@Balakh-Archivist Yeah, but they became buddies again like nothing happened, should've been just an alliance for survival, not the forced romance we got.
To this day, although I've seen the ending many times, it still gives me chills. Such a bitter feeling that it ends the way it does, and I love that about it. Very much a reflection of how war really feels in the end, that I don't think many other games capture quite as well as SCBW does. Great play-through Stu!
Mission 4 excecution was the most Zerg thing I've seen ever, and I've played 1v1 SC2 competitively and watched many SC1 and SC2 pro games. I absolutely love cracklings.
Good times - I think I'll finally buy Starcraft Remastered and do the campaigns again (I did them ages ago). This makes me miss the old Kerrigan voice. She really gave Kerrigan a kind of vicious humor.
Wait…. I know I’m like 20 years too late on this, but the Kel-Morian Combine level….Kerrigan says The Moria has the Richest Ore deposits in the Sector….as in the Mines of Moria
The moment at 56:00 where Jim condemned Sarah out of rage and her response showed that she was hurt, troubled. Perhaps Jim was the only one whose opinion Sarah still cared about at that point. Subtle moment that shows how important Jim is to Sarah
Really nice gameplay, man, the whole campaign took you to complete about as much as some of the missions in this campaign for me :D This deserves way more views.
I remember that I always used to cheat on the last mission, not because I couldn't have beaten it but because I used to play the campaigns in long sessions and was always too tired to deal with the last mission since I wasn't good enough to beat it in an efficient manner.
55:40 Fenix prepares for his Last Fight, knowing that he wont leave this Planet. Proudly he preheates his Plasmacoils and glares daggers at hte approaching Zerg... Gets Parasited in 0.02 seconds... Classic SC
Big thanks for this run - it's about the only place I can find any decent strats for Brood War zerg. Are there any levels you had some other ideas for or things that went wrong that you'd like to fix? I'm running this campaign right now and am looking to optimize all the builds and strats for each level. I've improved on your mission 6 (kill scientists) by using drops instead of a nydus.
I had a lot of trouble defeating the overmind mission the way you did it with ultralisks and dark templars with defiler, i wasnt able to dark swarm the overmind but after a few tries it finally worked!
Love these walkthrough speedruns. I'd love to see some alternative plays like doing genocide destruction on missions that those are not required. Would be fun to see someone very skilled doing that too. Also, I saw that you started a walkthrough / speedrun of Warcraft 3 but stopped at the prologue. Do you have any intentions on finishing? Warcraft 3 is my most loved game and would love to see one in both Reigh of Chaos and the Frozen Throne campaigns too (either reforged or classic).
I legitimately forgot once that the objective in Zerg 3 was to mine 10k minerals and just tried to kill everyone else (I remember my reasoning originally being to take some of them out so it would be easier, then getting carried away), turns out if you blow up all enemy command centers you also win the mission It's slower and definitely isn't a strat that belongs in a Speedrun, but fun trivia that I found out by virtue of being a dunce
I used to play brood wars obsessively. To my shame, I was never able to finish the last level. I had to use the Power Overwhelming cheat just to get the (sad) ending.
I cannot tell you how many times I've accidentally fast forwarded or rewinded 5 seconds trying to see the map to the right or left of where the camera is.
I've only now realised that this mission is mirroring the siege of Lordaeron by Sylvanas and Garithos against the Dreadlords. The Broodwar is borrowing heavily from WC 3 Frozen Throne... or the other way around.
1:30:40 Kerrigan: With her as my puppet, I --- whaaa what is happen-- *surrenders the Matriarch Zeratul: ?? Dark Archons standing behind Zeratul: 😊🤜🤛😉 Also 1:36:01 Dragoon really got gangsta'd by that shuttle lol, i need a backstory there XD, like "this is the last TIME you spill your jamba juice in my shuttle!"
Now, I'm of course not at the level you are, but I do have a few thousand hours of original SC:BW under my belt... And wouldn't going muta/crackling work better to shred the bases in the duke/fenix chapter? Since you essentially delete their entire ability to produce new units, it's more about shredding buildings, and I think it'd be faster with cracklings than hydras. Just me wondering... Damn, been years since I've played this game..))))
Did it in 17.03 with muta-crack, and my APM is shit (I literally have like 70 apm) compared to the guy in the video.)))) I imagine he could do it in like 12-13 minutes or so. Muta-ling confirmed as more effective (tried hydras also, for the fun of it, i clocked at 21.13 going pure hydra, 20.11 going hydra-ling). I did not expect to get back into starcraft at 2021))))) Edit: Also, yes, I am a nerd. Edit 2: Fuck, lings shred fucking buildings, seriously....
Huge fan of SC2, in fact played it before SC1. Tried going back and playing through SC1, but much like playing through the Warcraft games, the limited unit selection really annoys me. I know you can still play despite it, and just spam click and cycle through units but for some reason it just puts me off it. So it was great to watch the whole thing here instead.
Reforged was having massive problems when I started doing the campaign - bugs, unstable framerate, broken missions and general lack of polish. I've refunded the game because I considered it unfinished, but I will pick it back up if they fix the issues. However, fixes for the game have been very slow, it's clear they only have a skeleton crew working on it. Activision is cutting every corner these days.
So Kerrigan for no benefit to himself allowed Mengsk to retake Korhal and the dominion, and then in he next mission turns on his allies and breaks his word? What's even the point of allowing Mengsk to retake the dominion rather than just killing him right there then? Especially since Heart of the Swarm is all about revenge on him.
I don't know what happened between brood war and SC2. But shit started to not make any sense in-between. Korthal became a rising threat when Kerrigan won against the three forces that went against her. Mengsk had a besieged, broken, recently liberated planet. UED got completely destroyed. Raynor's forces whittled down to a rag-tag raiding group. At least that's consistent. Raynor in brood war promised he'd kill Kerrigan due to the loss of Fenix, betrayed by Queen of Blades. Yet Zeratul convinced Raynor that he needs Kerrigan to beat "the dark one" His years wallowing in misery made him be like "All is well, who is Fenix?" Please. Then yea, in HotS expansion, it's about taking out Mengsk. How did Raynor's raiders and a contingent of the Dominion managed to overwhelm a zerg home planet of Charr? With Kerrigan's presence on the planet? Terrible writing that's what. I'd believe it if the whole WoL was to weaken Kerrigan by taking out the queens under her. Nope. At least the Hybrid stuff that was a non-tied loose end in SC1 was good to open in SC2. Except for the final part of the entire SC2. Turning Kerrigan into a God. Cmon man -_-
Something odd I want to point out, the special zergling here is called "Devouring One", I recall them being called "Devours Children". Did they chage the name for the remaster?
Hero zergling has always been called devouring one. You are confusing it with the unofficial campaign called "Starcraft Insurrection" which had an overpowered zergling named devours children
