Out of all the finales in JoJo, this is probably the most iconic one, and my favorite as well. What a ride. Can't wait one day for the Part 4 watchalong, as it's my favorite of the animated parts. Anyway, We have a few memes that spawned at the end. - "So it's the same Stand as Star Platinum" is an often repeated meme. Due to how it's seen as an a*spull in the community. - These are Japanese exclusive, but you should hear Dio scream "STANDO POWAH!" "TOKI-WO-TOMARE!" and "ROADA-ROLLAH-DAH!" in the sub. It is absolutely hysterical.

But when you remember that the episode where Holly gets sick was on Episode 3 (that reaction took place on January 9, 2024), that would be 49 days. So in other words, we just barely saved Holly!

Here’s some soul crushing facts: 1. The three crusaders that died were the three that received the most lasting damage to them. Avdol was shot in the head had to recover. Kakyoin nearly got his eyes torn out and had to stay in the hospital for a while Iggy lost his foot in the petshop fight 2. If you watch the ending, Last train home, notice how Joseph is only holding 3 tickets. Only Three crusaders were able to board the last train home.

The funny thing is that “it’s the same type of stand as Star Platinum” is, in fact, a generalized statement about The World and Star Platinum being short-ranged pummeling punching stands at the time Jotaro said it. The fact that they are both time-stopping short-ranged pummeling punching stands is what made it a meme.

13:30 Actually The World is purely DIO's stand. Jonathan's stand is the Hermit Purple stand we saw DIO use very briefly. With its clairvoyance, Hermit Purple is basically the end point of Hamon, so it makes sense that a prodigy like Jonathan would have it as well.
@Birthday888
@Birthday888 7 месяцев назад
I think there's some connection implied between the Joestar's and The World though. Otherwise, Dio's ability to stop time becoming stronger after drinking Joseph's (and presumably Jotaro's if he had lost) wouldn't make too much sense.
@michaelcarlton1484
@michaelcarlton1484 7 месяцев назад
@@Birthday888 DIO has Jonathan's body so getting the blood of his descendant would heal the neck faster. There's also the Joestar birthmark and curse with Jonathan's body forcing Stands upon his descendants. Jotaro gained Star Platinum because he was already fast and precise but still had a ton of potential. The fifty days essentially accelerated Jotaro's progress. Jotaro progressed to the point where his speed was as fast as possible which meant that he could go faster than time itself.
@Birthday888
@Birthday888 7 месяцев назад
@@michaelcarlton1484 But we see Dio heal from stuff like a bisected leg with just anyone's blood. I'm not sure what your point was with the rest of the comments you msde though. @michaelcarlton1484
@michaelcarlton1484 7 месяцев назад
@@Birthday888 DIO was able to regenerate much faster and better once he had Joseph's blood. With Joestar blood in DIO, Jonathan's soul has less control over the body and thus, DIO is allowed to use it perfectly. As for your part 6 comment, that is purely because THAT Stand is gravity-based and gravity warps time and space.

Joseph at the end of Part 2: *goes to his own funeral and plays "guess who"* Joseph at the end of Part 3: *revives and instantly plays to be fricking Dio* Also, about the no tease at the end thing, yeah by the time the Part 3 anime was made JoJo was on Part 8, so of course they could've had a Part 4 tease, but they only did this for Parts 2 and 3 because Parts 1 to 3 are kind of a big story all conected (it originally was going to be just three Parts and that's it for JoJo, but Part 3's popularity blew up) so now that this big "arc" is closed, they don't have previews anymore since the stories are a bit less related

Let’s take a moment to appreciate Joseph trolling Jotaro. Man had a knife thrown in his neck and was bleeding out in the Cairo streets near his grandson. Next time he wakes up, he’s in an ambulance, looks to his side and recognizes DIO’s remains, and immediately understands the situation, but chooses to spook Jotaro for the hell of it. Joseph’s penchant for comedy is unmatched.
@navynarupan8979
@navynarupan8979 7 месяцев назад
You may not have realized in the previous episode, but when Joseph "died", the narrator didn't declare him deceased. We saw many instances of the narrator confirming a character's status throughout the anime like out of commission, hospitalized, retired, or deceased, but that did not happen with Joseph. In a way, Araki was telling the audience Joseph wasn't dead/not going to die until he says it himself. So even if we saw Joseph bleeding hard from his knife wound, his spirit flying away, and his blood sucked out by Dio, Araki didn't declare him deceased at all lol.

We’ve reached the end of Part 3, and with that, the end of a very bizarre ride. Speaking of endings, Last Train Home hits particularly hard after this finale, especially since it leaves clues as to the deaths of three of our Crusaders. At the river, Avdol, Iggy and Kakyoin are on the opposite side from the other three. On the train itself, we can see Joseph holding some tickets, presumably for the “Last Train Home” - only three of them, in fact.
@kaialone
@kaialone 7 месяцев назад
The river thing especially, cause in the actual show they talked about how for the ancient Egyptians, one side of the Nile was for the dead, the other for the living (I mean idk if Jojo's conveyed this correctly, but it's what they said)
@shuichisaihara53
@shuichisaihara53 7 месяцев назад
What I love about Last Train Home is that at heart, it is about the bittersweet feelings that come at the end of a long, arduous journey and the sacrifices that came along the way. You, like the Crusaders, are glad you went on the greatest adventure together, but the good memories are tinted with that sad truth that it didn't come without some bad. You can't listen to it without thinking of Avdol, who gave his life in the name of his comrades and wanted to rid the world of evil. Of Iggy, who may have started out as rough and unwilling to be a part of the cause but at the darkest hour, was as loyal as any other. Of Kakyoin, whose intellect and sacrifice were important to making sure everything turned out okay. Of Polnareff, whose goofy antics were a needed balance for how serious things were and who lost so much along the way. Of Joseph, who did his best to lead the group to victory and almost lost it all himself. And Jotaro, who despite saving the day and having grown so much during the journey, lost valued friends as well as his own youthful innocence without getting the chance to really understand what they meant to him. There's a real reason why a lot of JoJo's fans including myself love the ending as it's very bittersweet and nostalgic, as just like how anyone can interpret it as Jotaro reminiscing about his memories in Egypt, you can do the same with us as the viewer reminiscing about Stardust Crusaders. Truly a powerful ending and one of the best ending songs of all time in an anime in my opinion.

So in regards to Star Platinum being able to stop time, a popular theory is that back when Jotaro bet his soul playing poker against D’arby, he used Star Platinum to light a cigarette and get him a drink both seemingly out of nowhere. We know that D’arby knew the secret of The World given Avdol's observation that D'arby was panicking as much as he is because he knows that if he told them The World's secret, DIO would certainly kill him. Given that D'arby knows that The World is a stand that has the ability to stop time, it brings his poker game with Jotaro into perspective. He wasn't worried that Star Platinum was moving too fast for him to see; he's worried that Star Platinum possesses a time stop ability (which of course it turns out to be the case, even though Jotaro didn’t know this yet), and is using it to switch cards in the stopped time.

The best part of this fight for me is that Dio is so smart the whole way through. @iantaakalla8180
@iantaakalla8180 7 месяцев назад
I like how because he was threatened and took far too many precautions, he basically taught Jotaro how to use time stop. In the episodes before Dio said time stop felt like the lengthening moments a boxer feels when he dodges punches, and then he had to will himself with confidence to recognize stopped time, and then move through it. Dio, panicking that Jotaro’s finger twitched, basically confirmed that Jotaro can also move through and used stopped time. Then, because Dio prefers punching up close, Jotaro could will himself for a second to handle stopped time to punch Dio into a jewelry shop. This feat is repeated again after Jotaro had to basically stop his heart (which is apparently important because Jotaro can’t just handle time stop like Dio can), so now, after punching Dio when he activates time stop before Dio hails a car to desperately escape, Jotaro knows how to move through time stop. Thus, Jotaro now has the power to stop time like Dio, and exercises it after the road roller attack which conveniently obscures Jotaro. My god, Dio panicked himself to a loss.

Nico, back on episodes 30-31: "Jotaro could just levitate off the ground, fly through the air like Superman and then punch a planet into a dude" Now, on the final episodes, Jotaro levitated off the ground, flew through the air like Superman then punched The World. Yes, the "flight" is really a stylistic choice on the animators' end, but still. If those aren't Bullshit Powers, I don't know what is. Maybe that's Nico's stand.

I feel like I don’t need to tell you this but DIO’s steamroller is absolutely a meme in the community, in fact it might be the mother of all memes. That one attack might have literally put JoJo on the map in the west because although practically nothing of this franchise made it overseas for over 2 decades there was one thing that was pretty popular and you already know what it is. Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Heritage for the Future the old Capcom fighting game did actually get a release in the west marking one of the first times this series made a splash outside of Japan. In it DIO is a playable and is capable of using both Za Warudo and his Steamroller attack as super moves, both of which became the earlier JoJo memes and are the very reason I even knew what this franchise was when it eventually got it’s anime adaptation. This one meme and game was enough to stir up interest in this series for an entire generation and so, the Steamroller (or Road Roller as is said in Japanese), is the epitome of JoJo meme’s. Also fun fact that Steamroller attack has been a super for DIO in almost every fighting game he has appeared in and is quite frankly one of the greatest fighting game supers of all time. They even added an explosion. Its legacy is truly timeless.
@iantaakalla8180
@iantaakalla8180 7 месяцев назад
In addition to the Heritage of the Future being a source of the meme, the actual meme came from a Flash animation that came from the combo of Dio stopping time and then dropping a road roller in 2006. That same thing, for some reason, had the stand rushes of Fugo, Bucciarati, and Narancia. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HrARZ8LWSgQ.htmlsi=OqXiwUJ_FdLgQggp

About the steam roller, which DIO screams "ROAD ROLLER" in japanese, is the first Jojo meme thing I ever saw, even before Phantom Blood's anime aired, because I always saw people using images of DIO throwing a steam roller on the internet. But the best thing about it is, in the Jojo fighting game IT ACTUALLY IS ONE OF DIO'S SUPER MOVES. He jumps offscreen and then comes down with the f'ing road roller. I've seen it so many times ever since I started using the internet way too young, on so many different places, forums, blogs, especially DIO's sprite from the game, and I had absolutely no idea.

I love how Araki brings it around so that like, Jotaro having the least experience using a Stand, but Star Platinum having this insane accuracy and speed, stopping the bullet, etc. all that ends up being build-up for the reveal that Star Platinum is effectively still a juvenile Stand and has this much greater *time-stopping* power that can be unlocked
@allozingy
@allozingy 7 месяцев назад
So much of this fight was built up in previous episodes: * Star Platinum being fast and precise enough to stop bullets in midair is shown at the VERY beginning * Jotaro being able to master a skill in a very short time during the D'Arby the Younger faceoff * Star Platinum stops time for a moment in the fight against N'Doul * Dio's abilities being the same / mirroring the Joestars when he uses the spirit photography * Jotaro's propensity for winning by mind games like playing dead and/or bluffing is also a point in almost every fight he wins (Yellow Temperance, D'Arby the Older, etc.)
@iantaakalla8180
@iantaakalla8180 7 месяцев назад
Another point to add that is a spoiler: Kira also notes that Jotaro’s stand moves so fast it was like it stops time in the anime. Jotaro has always subtly used time stop to make himself unnervingly but barely humanly fast.

And so we close another chapter of Jojo. It has been a hell of a ride. I can't believe I forgot to mention this earlier, but this opening Sono Chi No Kioku is special in more ways than the one. Sure, DIO interrupting is wickedly cool, but did you know that the OP is also sung by the 3 singers of the first 3 OPs. Part 1's Sono Chi No Sadame by Tommy Hiroaki, Part 2's Bloody Stream by Coda and Part 3 first half's Stand Proud by Jin Hashimoto. So with all these 3 coming together for this OP, it almost feels like the Jonathan, Joseph and Jotaro banding together to finally take down the the evil of DIO that has plagued their family for so long. Even the lyrics themselves are a summarization of how we got here and how Star Platinum will take this blank last page (of fate) and plant his fist through it (forge their own fate. I do wish I'd remembered to say all of that earlier but jojo truly is a series with so many fun facts, memes and themes that it really does get difficult to mention them all. But regardless, thanks for sharing this reaction with us and we all look forward to seeing a series on Part 4 eventually down the line. ONE FINAL MUSICAL REFERENCES!!!!! Spaced out because spoilers. -Joseph mentions Weird Al Yankovic when Jotaro is testing him to see if he's possessed. =The implication that Weird Al exists means every artist he's ever parodied also exists. MEANING THAT ALL OF THESE MUSICAL REFERENCES EXIST IN-UNIVERSE! DIO could meet DIO, Pet Shop could meet the Pet Shop Boys, Iggy could meet Iggy Pop, Etc., Etc. ~Of course this would imply that every Jojo's character with a reference from this point forward in the series is likely a huge fan of what they're referencing. -I forget if they show this in the anime, but in the manga at least, the tape Joseph puts in his walkman at the airport is Get Back by The Beatles. I think what I love most about Jotaro vs Dio is the relationship between the two of them. Dio viewed Jonathan with respect, and thought he was the only who can defeat him. Meanwhile with Jotaro, when Dio learns that he can move in Frezze Time he was terrified of him. And during Dio's final moments he was furious that someone like Jotaro was the person who manages to kill him.

For perspective on how long it takes Araki to write a JoJo part now: The Part 1 anime started airing while Araki was one year into writing Part 8... and the Part 6 anime started airing 3 months after Part 8 ended. Just for reference when the original mangas came out (approximately) for each part Part 1 - 1987 Part 2 - 1987-89 Part 3 - 1989-92 Part 4 - 1992-95 Part 5 - 1995-1999 Part 6 - 2000-2003 Part 7 - 2004-2011 - Keep in mind part 7 and 8 are long AND near the start of part 7 JoJo started being published monthly instead of weekly hence why these parts take so long to finish. Part 8 - 2011-2021 - Should also be noted the part 1 anime started in 2012. Nearly every JoJo season ended before the part 8 manga ended, with the exception of part 6 (started airing in late 2021) and part 7/8/9 (not airing yet) Part 9 - 2023-Ongoing This should give a general overview of what to expect from each part as Araki’s writing often changes with each passing era. Parts 1-3 scream 1980s manga while part 8 feels completely different in comparison. If I had to split JoJo into different eras I’d split it: Parts 1-3 - OG JoJo. Mostly buff dudes and there is an artstyle shift near the start of part 4 so this makes sense. Part 3 feels more like a transition period for the franchise though if anything, although it is still plagued with largely one note villains with a few exceptions 4-6 - fights get more creative, antagonists get more personality and to be entirely honest the writing gets considerably better 7-8 - Modern JoJo. It tries to combine the best parts of the OG JoJo, with the simple yet cool ideas, with the great writing and interesting characters of 4-6.

And so our third bizarre adventure comes to an end. Thank you for the wonderful ride, Nico! As the changes to the OP show, there were always hints at the fates of our beloved Crusaders. There is actually a ton more foreshadowing in both OPs, and if you have time I’d recommend watching a video analysing them. But did you know that the ED does the same? Firstly, when the crew is seen on the train, Joseph is holding just three tickets in his hand. That represents the number of tickets required for the “last train home”. Likewise, when the six Crusaders are shown alongside the river, Avdol, Iggy and Kakyoin are on one side, while Jotaro, Joseph and Polnareff are on the other. Crossing the river is a concept closely tied with the theme of death.

Now I know it might seem like an asspull that Jotaro just so happens to awaken to the same type of stand ability as The World and it kiiiiinda is but also not really. It’s already been established that Stands can have similar abilities to each other (just look at the D’arby brothers) and Dio himself is using Jonathan’s body which means him and Jotaro already have a connection to each other due to blood ties so it’s not out of the question that they’d awaken to the same type of stand. Also it’s worth pointing out that waaaaaay back during the fight with the water stand in the desert we actually see a brief glimpse of Jotaro using his timestop ability (which I’m pretty sure was an anime only addition) if only for like half a second. Jotaro has only had his stand for about a little over a month in universe by this point so it makes sense he wouldn’t know the true potential he could wield. Though it is funny to think that for these past 50 days Jotaro thought his stand ability was just “punching things real good” lmao.

13:34 Technically no. If you remember early in this part, DIO had an ability similar to Hermit Purple that allowed him to know the Joestar's were on their way and he planted the fly stand guy on the plane. Well, Araki actually confirmed that that ability is considered Jonathan's Stand due to it being Jonathan's body from the neck down, quote "He's [DIO's] able to use a similar clairvoyance as Joseph because his body is Jonathan's from the neck down." Personally, most JoJo fans find this kinda lame cause they want Jonathan to have The World, but officially that Hermit Purple is Jonathan's stand and The World is DIO's.

13:50 That's actually a nice theory. It worked pretty well until a certain something all the way in a much more recent kinda deconfirmed it. I won't specify what it was, but no The World is still DIO's stand, always has been. The Stands come from the soul after all. Araki has said though, remember that Hermit Purple-like vine ability DIO used at the beginning of the part? Similar to Joseph but didn't have to bust 30000 yen camera? Apparently that's supposed to Jonathan's Stand. According to Araki, every Hamon user would have summon variation of Hermit Purple, and that was Jonathan's.

You know, going into this reaction series, I remembered Part 3 dragging on a LOT. Now that it's over, I have to say that I was just outright wrong about that. Sure, while things can maybe seem slow at times, the pacing is still pretty well done when you consider just how much was packed into these 48 episodes. As with anything, moderation is key, and having just two to three episodes at a time every few days, it just works SO well for this Part. Part 3 still isn't what I'd consider my favorite, but I've certainly gained a new appreciation for it. Here's looking to even more bizarre adventures in the future, in an equally as bizarre location. So, Jotaro being able to Stop Time has been hinted to before this fight with DIO. If you go back to that fight with Steely Dan, the moment where Star Platinum catches the Lovers before it enters Jojo's ear all the colors desaturate like they do in the moments of stopped time. Then in the fight with N'Doul when Star Platinum goes to punch N'Doul, the screen warps around Star Platinum slightly and Star Platinum ends up avoiding N'Doul's attack, indicating a split second moment of stopped time.

My interpretation of Jotaro being able to copy The World's power was that when he realised that their Stands were similar, he thought "If our Stands are the same... that means I can do all the stuff that DIO's doing myself too!" And immediately started trying to copy DIO's powers by flying and stopping time himself. And when DIO realises this, he immediately started countering Jotaro, by throwing knives and other similar tactics. It's the best example of a Jojo fight imo, since it shows a perfect example of each fighter trying to outsmart each other, rather than trying to hit the bigger punch. BTW, yes, the Steamroller is a massive meme. Mostly because of the JP dub line when DIO drops it, as he goes "RODA ROLLA DAH!" in amazing Engrish. Go watch it yourself if you wanna laugh at it.

So Nico the steam roller isn’t just a meme within Jojo, it is the jojo meme. The scene where Dio drops a steam roller on Jotaro might actually be the most referenced scene in jojo across all media and was one of the only jokes that people knew about from Jojo before this anime adaptation came out and became incredibly popular. Also it’s probably the one scene where people really wanted to see you react the Japanese dub.
