Tip: The storage (solid/gas/liquid) only hold 75 mass each, whereas the Decorations storage crates (large)[number 2/6 only] holds 150 mass each and will hold ANYTHING and can be linked too, from the extractors and from them (crates) to other equipment.

@@Evilution382 That maybe true, I don't know. But with No level skill in outpost building, you can stack 9 of the deco storage crates that will hold 1450 mass in the same amount of area as the "containers" or small warehouse will take up and are cheaper to build.

Small tip for leveling...don't buy 200 adaptive frames. Buy/ farm its ressources instead and get 200 XP for crafting the adaptive frames yourself.

Nice vid, been messing around myself with this for the last few days, did my head in a bit but eventually i got around to it. Found this vid a bit too late myself but great for other peeps who have been struggling. I feel your pain 😅 You could also build a transfer container and have your resources sent directly to your ship if I understand correctly. This is especially handy if you don't have a home base yet so you cant use a cargo link but you wanna start extracting materials for future building if you've got a lot of cargo space (my ship has 2500) so you don't have to collect your resources manually on-site all the time.

Also, if you are desperate for resources and impatient like me, you can craft a bed and sleep for a few hours. This will make the storage units fill up insanely quick. I did this for "Aluminium" and got over 50 after sleeping 10 in-game hours or so.

The best place to rest in order to pass the most time is Venus, 24 hours is 2400 Universal time making 100 days pass and all outposts resources will be full to collect after every 24 hours waiting on Venus, rinse and repeat for unlimited resources and save you so much time in the long run.

After trying to find a spot for hours, I finally did it. Here's what I learned: Compass doesn't work, don't rely on it. I did all the things at the video, couldn't find anywhere good for hours and go back to my previous save. I went to the planet again and saved my game before landing down. (The same spot as the video) Then I just take my marker (survey doesn't help) and look for the minerals. As you can see at the video, Allum is inside, He3 is outside the Allum, and the iron is across them. So I try to find a spot where I got HE3 but Allum disappears. That means I'm just the tip of the allum. So I run through that border until I hit Iron. At my first try(failure) I was trying to follow allum but staying at He3 and tip of Allum worked great. The resources colors at planet screen is scam, think about like this: you can place mines on mineral deposit circles (as you can see at the video), So youre trying to find a location that you can access 4 of those circles. Too bad we don't know where those circles are.

you can see them with the scanner when on the planet but only were you are looking. I ended up droppings a couple outfits at the edge of one so I could see were it was when I walked over to the other so I could get them both in range. Still could only be a sliver of one but enough for 3 extractors

@@sharazar I was doing wrong. There is a better video explaining it. You need to land to a point where 3 nodes connecting. If you land at that point, finding a base point is just a breeze.

At timestamp 5:40, it shows what resources are within range of the outpost. wouldn't it be easier to use that rather than roam around and visually look for the edge of the resource biome?

You could but if you are not near the border between the two biome there is no point as you will mostly not get one of more of the resources that will only spawn in the other biome. With this planet there is a clear changing in color so it is easy to see the border if not then pulling out the outpost beacon will help you find when all the resources you want are in range, then just slowly pinpoint where is the best place. I place it then check each resource. Then if i need to move the beacon I drop outfits from my inventory, to use as marker for where the beacon was, were an edge of resources are. so that I can replant the beacon a little closer to any edge resources. Doing this I have gotten an outpost with 8 on one planet and two with 6

If you set up a fabricator at a location like this you can funnel your aluminum and iron into it to start producing frames for you

I landed in this area while listening to you say it might take a bit but I landed on top of everything except iron right under my ship. And less than 30 second walk behind the ship is the biome line.

I found a spot with the 4 (al, ir, h3, ber) but it would not let me build the 4 extractors. So i kept looking and found a spot with 4 including europium instead of iron. Figured i could find iron elsewhere. Any suggestions are welcome :)

The Narion system seems pretty useful. I set up an outpost on some moon to the north east of that moon, think it was Gremor or something, that had three resources that overlap pretty frequently. The main resources on that moon were uranium and iridium... It's also next to a space port space station and a medical space station. Oh and the view is pretty amazing. Guess my second outpost will go on the moon you have here. I've been flying around like crazy trying to find an easy to reach area with iron, aluminium, and helium.

If you have even a single skill point into the Habitation skill, the Eridani system in the bottom left corner of the star map has multiple planets with 8 resources on them each and they're mostly common elements like Fe, Al, He3, Ni, Be, Pb, Co, Ag etc. which makes it perfect. Only catch is that they're also all extreme temp planets so you need that skill point in Habitation.

Thanks for the helpful vid. It came a day after I built on the Aluminum side of the place. I tried relocating according to your instructions of walking towards the biome boundary. I got a “Boundary Reached” prompt: “Open the map to explore another region, or return to your ship” It gives me a choice to fast travel back to the ship or go to the orbital map. I’m playing on Xbox, so that might be a limitation

my problem is even with following the guide i will run and run and hit the boundaries limit before the biome even changes. not sure what the deal is . i assumed i was somehow not following the compass correctly and ran in the exact opposite direction and still nothing . is there some RNG involved with the exact spot and where you land?

I think where the difference is when it comes to Aluminum/Aluminium is that in the UK it's spelt different thus it's pronunciation spelling is Aluminium.

I spent approximately 30 minutes looking for the location for the outpost and didn't find it. I landed exactly in the location shown, I walked everywhere, I landed nearby and nothing. Great guide, but for the hardest part it wasn't helpful. Some managed without this, unfortunately not me.

Kinda related/unrelated topic, but I need help none the less. Yeah I got a huge problem in my game. The starship technician in Neon, and Atlantis has disappeared. I have been sleeping in Venus for many days and they never came back. Now Amoli Bava, the general merchant, is gone. How on hells earth am I gonna be able to play the game if characters just disappears and never come back? Also Vasco is absolute nightmare of a companion. He doesn't work. He does not follow you and disappears all the time too. If anyone has a solution please tell me. I haven't found one online.

1 extractor fills a storage very quickly assuming you are going away to do missions. I would go less extractors and 2 storage per extractor, but well done for finding an area you can get 2 resources

You can link all the extractors to the same first storage bin then link that bin to other bins and the first one will overflow into the next

That's because when you land, the "tile" you're on is randomly generated. Everyone's landing will be different.

the scanner shows resources before installing the beacon - this will allow you to choose a better location than shown in the video

I love how you say it can take 5 or 10 minutes. I went between 2 zones in three areas of the moon. I walked towards the adjacent biome 3 times. All three times I walked for over 15 minutes and hit the invisible wall. I spent over 2 hours trying to find the perfect spot and nothing.

you need to look for where the BIOME intersects, the resource nodes that overlap eachother (brel, hydrogen, and aluminum) isnt actually true, it's that way because bethesda cant find better ways to tell that there are multiple resources in that area

you can find out where the biome intersects by spamming landing locations on your starmap if you can move your mouse by a pixel and it changes biome, then it intersects

Yeah, there's a ton of guides for this all over the web and I followed them and searched for TWO HOURS and never found a spot with all 4, I settled for 3 to just preserve my sanity. Also, I can't figure out a way to delete landing spots, which means Narion is now cluttered with failed search attempts.

So on this planet/moon. Should I set up some automated turrets for defense? Or is it a waste of materials? I'm just starting and running low on stuff I don't wanna waste items. Plus the caves around the area have lots of plutonium in them as well as tons of nickel. I've already ran through 3 C's and mines quite helpful 😊

the moon is random , i never found just one place with all 3-4 minirals i had to build 2 outpost, so then u need to build a transfer platform to, to transfer everything to one of the places for a more easy pickup.

The signal booster or whatever it's called expands your building area for the outpost, could help you reach the small areas you have access to

The Aluminum - Aluminium argument is a funny one, to be fair its spelt in the American version so your not wrong to call it Aluminum (Even spell check doesn't like the proper version...)

If you include organic resources, you get even more. The most number of total resources I've got from one outpost is in Procyon III, where I get 11 resources: F, xF4, IL, structural, antimicrobial, fiber, nutrient, ornamental, sealant, metabolic agent, sedative.

You need 2 Helium extractors going to a gas storage tank that then goes to the generator

I've found that it takes 2 helium extractors to keep up with the pacing of 1 generator, so throughput may be the issue. Make sure to double check the direction of your output links too. Always start at the thing to take from as I don't think they're smart enough to detect flow/consumption. I tend to make a bank of them, have a storage or two with only one of the set to feed them, and make sure all the extractors feed into that one canister. If all else fails, I have found sometimes that deleting a structure and putting it right back down can fix things. Bethesda, amirite? Hope this helps.

I've found the outer edges of the "landing area" tend to have less actual stuff and better crossover on resource nodes. Bit of a hike, but at least you're clear of stuff. Bring supplies for a landing pad. XD

I must be bad at this game, try one I failed, try 2 I found the seam but I could not get all 4 I did with beryllium I think, but after going back to buy more adaptive frames I got up a large landing pad and I couldn't buy the as 4330 type A engine :( Oh well. (WARNING!) if u are building an outpost do NOT build any of the robots for ur base as the have a bug where the wil walk outside ur outpost build circle and stay bugged or even dissapear and u wil no longer be able to delete that outpost because the game registers them as important outpost npc's forever as far as i found out myself 😑 . Rip my save game ☠️

@Arekkz Gaming, I couldn't find this spot on the first go around but, I just found it on the second. I set up my beacon and it showed all 8 like you show but I'm having trouble finding the iron vein or the extractor in the list of extractors? I'm not sure if I don't have the correct level or if it's something else?

honestly fuck starfield, I was running around so long and finally found a spot with all ressources and then the h3 spot is blocked by some POI point which makes a 500m no build zone. Really nice work todd. Im going to deinstall that shit and never buy a bethesda game early, who thought it would be fun to run around hours looking for a good base spot because you can only have 8 shitty game

No matter how many times I've tried building an outpost here, I just keep getting randomly exploding solar panels and extractors. There's nothing in sight, pirate or otherwise so not sure why this is happening and the game systems don't exactly give you enough information about what the hell's going on. This outpost stuff can kiss my ass if things get this tedious and micro-management in the first half an hour building stuff 🙂

My spot claims to have helium, and I have the option to build an extractor, but I can't find a hint of color, anywhere within (or even near) the boundaries of my base. I do see several seeps, but I can't place an extractor on or near them. The three solids work fine. When I scan near the seeps, I see aluminum flagged, so maybe that's more or less hiding helium as an extractible resource.

I really don’t understand the point of outposts at all. I’ve played about 70 hours and have all the materials and money I’ll need for anything, have did about every research upgrade and modification. Unless it’s just to get an achievement somewhere, the whole thing seems pointless and isn’t explained well, same as ship modification

OMG after like 5 hrs, I finally found iron aluminum combo. The stupid part is there helium and berilium near by but it won’t join together with the other two. I set my outpost down so fast. There’s like 3 planets I’ve landed on and littered it with landing posts. Time to xp farm baby! Good luck to all! The map is so dumb too. You land where you want but because Howard used AI, the map is generated snd completely different. So annoying. Thanks though, watched a handful of videos too

Found an area with all 5 resources here... and then a massive chunk of the outpost space was restricted for no reason. What a complete fuck up of a game.

If anyone encounters their resources changing to a different type etc, make a new a save game then load that and it should be fix the bug that swaps resources for some reason
