The Falcata, following the pattern with Ecliptic vessels of being named after bladed weapons, is named after an Italian sword type that was popular prior to Rome's existence. It very much looks like the Greek Kopis. Single edged, heavy, wide, blade, and a hilt with a hand guard that partially covers the pinky and first fingers in two parts. The blade also curved forward at the tip, much like the Gurkhas' Kukri.
This is my daily driver. I upgraded the fuel without changing the layout of the back, turned those two companionway modules in the bottom into a workshop, and replaced the armoury with a living quarters. Shields fully upgraded and weapons changed to a load of vanguard particle beams and some suppressors. Makes combat super easy!
Far out. Just posted last night on social media that I commandeered this ship before logging out for the night. So hard when I have one last Unknown Site to explore and I wanted to consider flying to New Atlantis to refit and upgrade the ship to finish Lonestar missions. Upgrades to the reactor, shields, and fuel tanks... maybe add weapons. All later today and then on to a confrontation with The First.
In the new play through starting yesterday, it was the first ship I got to re-home, I upgraded and changed some habs and pulled the cockpit forward a little which is enough to get another hab in, it it was a step up from the Frontier, The weapons aren't bad, of course I got attacked jumping because of the 70 fuel and was able to handle three pirates ships.
This Ship served me well early game. Got lucky and captured one on the ground. Had useful high level components beyond my Ship Design skill, -cargo and good engines. Ladders in this game suck of course. so I modified it to be all one-level; swap the landing bay to a front loader so I could ditch all the lower hab/storerooms. Just reduce it to an all-in-1 and a workshop. All you really need early on.
I took a captured Falcata, widened it and lengthened it by two spaces and turned it into a pretty nice B class all-arounder. Retained the A class Slayton engines (upgraded to the highest version) and added two more, so I kept the 150 base speed and 100 maneuverability.
Fun ship, I re-home a ton of them, when updated they're surprisingly great fighters. The fuel thing is terrible, the last one I re-homed I didn't have the fuel to make it where I wanted to take it, so I had to jump twice and got attacked twice, and was really outclassed by the enemies, but finally got where I was going to an outpost ship pad to sell it.
Love this ship. My home ship is a version of this. I've doubled the engines, doubled the fuel tanks, replaced the two structural parts with habs and I've got quite a capable ship...
I like how compact Shroud-Eckland ships look. Gives them a sleek, aggressive appearance. Since they use a lot of Structural pieces to achieve that look, I find the internal habs a bit sparse. Definitely a trade-off between aesthetic and function.
Yeah, I agree, I kind of wish we could get some habitat modules that are based on the curved structual pieces to give us a little more space to work with
I got another one tonight and once again I had to make multiply (3) jumps to get where i needed to go, and got attacked each time, each time by four ships, had to run away twice. It seems like a transport ship for them, I can't imagine why it has 70 fuel.
If you have this issue again, once you've claimed the ship, hop out of seat and walk off the bridge, then bring up your map and travel to paradiso. You should teleport straight to the surface of the planet, and you can upgrade it to add more fuel and stuff.
@@CrimsonFlyboy The problem is they took off and are in space, which happens a lot to me when I get in ships, I guess I could land it and do it. I haven't tried that when I'm in space though. I know it works even from the captain seat when I'm not in space.
It will work in space. You just have to make sure you're not in the captains seat. It usually only works travelling to paradiso as those ships will have contraband, and you will get greyed out options if you try travelling to uc or freestar territory
