I am too far gone and can't bring myself to use the cutter (or even the nail gun) as weapons. I'm certain they work as described, but can't do it. :) +25% xp feels like I'm cruising. I bet 48% is a rocket.

Customization is a great option and consistent with Todd Howard's statements that they want to give players agency. It's also likely an option to us since it's a single player game. I suspect it's happening across other titles today to a lesser/greater extent. Controllers, graphics and a simplified easy/normal/hard mode seem common. BG3 has a Custom difficulty, but it does seem focused on combat power (mostly). As soon as you go multi-player, it gets complicated. I'm enjoying it and will be putting out more videos before the 15th. After that everyone can tinker to their heart's content!

Sleeping (1 hour) on Codos left me with some time left on the food/hydration. On Venus it expired, but I was at full health. Good new, we don't die in our sleep from starvation. :)

I continue to find new content and details, mostly small stuff but definitely deliberately placed and interesting. They might be sneaking in new things in the patches too. 1000+ hours in and I'm finding named POI that I've never seen. Overall I find more to do, but I absolutely come from distant RP background and a time when 75%+ of any game was made up by the players while playing. It's just instinctive for me to wrap a story around the gameplay, make a few decisions differently and then it feels different. In any case, we are also fortunate to have so many titles to play and the opportunity to dip into games as they develop and grow. As long as they are committed to this IP, it's going to be massive in a few years. I'm OK with that, but temper my expectations. :)

Ship parts are just sold at normal vendors like Jemison Mercantile. Like anything else in the game, no guarantees as they can be "in stock" or not randomly so check all the vendors. I think they are around 800 credits. Think of thrusters (as in Pilot Skill rank 1) as a 'drift' mechanic for your ship. You can slide/drift a bit if you use them. Nice in combat if you like 'em.
