Diminishing returns brahh, at this point games require a shit load of hardware to make games only look slightly better. Main issue is that ray tracing is still off the table for a large portion of gamers. Once stuff like DLSS 3.5 in Cyberpunk RT Overdrive becomes standard/affordable, that’s when we’re gonna see games look legitimately next gen. As bullshit as the NVIDIA tax is, you HAVE to try out a 4090 going full tilt. It’s amazing, and I hate how that type of next gen experience is only reserved for the 1% of the 1%

I remember in 2017 when i bought my 1060 6gb. I was playing ALL games in 1080p ultra at 60fps always. The first thing i was doing was going to settings and just putting it all on ultra. There was no FSR no DLSS, no upscaler, just native resolution with a good TAA to smooth it out a little. Now a 4060 gets you 30-40fps at medium settings.

Because your gtx 1060 6gb is gtx 980 performance, but fake 4060 is only between 3060 and 3060 ti that's nowhere near rtx 3080.

Back in 2016 you could buy a mid range card like 1060 and play 1080p high settings 60fps in almost all games but but now seven years later you buy a mid range card like 4060 and you still play at 1080p but on low settings and can barely achieve 60fps without upscaling I don't know who to blame here more, game developers or gpu manufacturers

In 2014 i had a 750 2GB in my pc. I played Battlefield 3 in 1080p high at an avarege 60. Multiplayer-64 players-explosions everywhere. Bf 4 same settings ~40-50fps. Medium easy 60fps. Something went very wrong.

the game itself is far from disappointing, performance wise it utilizes global illumination which is just that intensive , but still we will need performance updates, It is insane business wise to develop games that can only be played on top-tier hardware.

I didn't notice the difference between medium and high. The difference is noticeable between medium and ultra. But the most noticeable setting is the texture quality. Textures and detail to the maximum, everything else to the average. I'm not even sure that in a blind test without looking at individual pixels in motion, someone will be able to replace a strong difference. Yes, the difference is visible, but it's not critical at all. Modern ultra settings - marketing. (sorry for my language, I'm from Russia, I make a lot of mistakes when writing). Это не маркетинг, а выжимка максимума из видеокарты. Просто ушла та эпоха, когда каждая новая игра делала свою мини-революцию в графике. Сейчас каждая современная ААА игра выглядит почти как ирл, между ними разницу нужно чуть ли не под лупой разглядывать, а все что мы все ещё замечаем невооружённым взглядом с прошлой эпохи это производительность. Между 30 и 60 кадрами колоссальная разница. Сегодня 60 кадров стало стандартом и поэтому мы резко негативно реагируем на 30 кадров. Ну и нужно учитывать, что это RU-vid, который ОЧЕНЬ сильно сжимает качество видео, экономя место на своих серверах, ну и чтоб у людей было меньше проблем со связью смотреть контент с их серверов. Нужно непосредственно самим оценивать разницу в графике, либо хотя бы скачивать скриншоты в формате PNG.

Was watching the HW Unboxed benchmark, in 1080p ultra preset they get 48fps with my 3080 Ti. Fired up Cyberpunk 2077 to see how it performs in comparison, in most demanding downtown area of Night City: 1080p ultra no RT - 110fps - yes, over twice as fast than Starfield 1080P ultra RT Ultra - 65fps - still 20 fps over Starfield, with RT Ultra! 1080p ultra RT Pathtracing - 35fps - just 13 fps less than Starfield This is hilarious. And of course Cyberpunk looks much better graphically, even without RT, and takes place in city that's what, 20 times the size of New Atlantis in Starfield? Since everything in Starfield is segmented into cells separated by loading screens, how the fuck and why the fuck is it so demanding? Keeping count of dropped sandwiches can't be that difficult.

Hardware unboxed mentioned that textures in this game are not that great. It scales from good to awful. Also this game has been in development for years and using a considerably old game engine, which may be the reason why VRAM usage is low.

i think they been doing that a while but it just became obvious. having good drivers is the most important part of performance and they arent incentivised to give good performance on cards that dont make them money. buying gpus is basically about buying new software support rather than taking advantage of new hardware

Don't forget he's running it with a Ryzen 7 5800x3d, more expensive than the graphics card itself. Most people using an rtx4060 won't have anything better than a Ryzen 5, which means even less frames

A good looking game (not the best) imo. The performance issue is something that will be addressed I reckon partially with a Day 1 patch and again in the coming weeks. Interesting how upscaling has negligible impact on fps ….. clearly sone optimisation there is definitely needed. I d/l the DLSS patch for my copy of Starfield and it makes a small fps improvement …… not as much as in other titles. I’ve played about 4hrs worth and investigating places / planets and collecting loot as a hoarder for selling to get extra in game credits for me is fun.

back in 2014 u could buy a gtx 970 or amd r9 290x for 300$ and i would run all games on 1080p ultra 60+ fps and in 2014-2015 games actually looked next gen compared to 360/ps3 era dragon age inquisition,shadow of mordor,witcher 3,mgs5,ryse,arkham knight,etc

This progression in GPU and games development reminds me a lot of the microsoft intel forced upgrade push-pull marketing in the 90's. Microsoft made windows word and excel continuously more cumbersome, even though 99% of the users would not have seen a difference with older versions; forcing you to upgrade to a newer computer allowing microsoft to again to "upgrade" their software, the cycle repeated like 3 times. At the end people were now on pentium 4 running windows 2000, doing spreadsheets and word-processing that for all intense and purpose could be done just as well on a 10 year old 286 running DOS but ended up doing 3 to 4 computer upgrades.

The rtx 4060 performing at a similar level to the xbox series s is mindblowing to me. I think the series S targets 1440p but with fsr enables as well. This means that the game isn’t performing to the level it should be on rtx cards and probably needs more work to get it to where it needs to be. I understand its still leaps and bounds in optimization compared to bgs games of the past but still…

The series x targets 4K using fsr (1440p internal) and 4060 here targeted 1440p medium utilizing fsr which is the target of the series s with more or less 37-42 fps. The series x might get similar performance but with higher resolution

Well, that is not exactly true. Xbox is locked at 30 FPS and it has RTX 2060S level card. It is better in straight rasterization, but not more powerful than RTX 4060 now. The difference is in raytracing which XBOX cannot do, but it has raster performance of RTX 2080. This results in consoles being able to run games surprisingly well, because they just cut out all of the premium features out.

I thought I was dead set on getting the 3060 Ti but your videos convinced me to get the 6700 xt instead. I'm bummed about losing ray tracing and DLSS for sure, especially after NVIDIA introduced DLSS 3.5, but I want my new gpu to last at least 3 years after I bought it! 🤣

6700 xt is probably better value for gaming, but im not sure if you should base that on this one game. AMD is a exclusive partner with bethesda for the production of this game, so there is likely a bit of a unfair advantage for AMD. Though the optimization seems to be fairly shit for both gpu's so who knows

Whenever you changed the FSR percentage, sometimes you changed the 'Render resolution' and sometimes the setting below the 'Upscaling' option? But for both you wrote 'FSR 50%'(for example) Why? Are both the settings same? 'Render resolution' & the setting below the 'Upscaling' option? The way you said Kryzzp in the starting was not quite crisp as in other videos 🙂

I actually love the way FSR is implemented in this game. Getting to choose the actual internal render resolution before the upscale is happening is soooo much better than some random "performance, balanced or quality" settings with no specifications on the actual % of the resolution. Everything else tho... It's not looking like a game I want to play right now, unfortunately

@@TheBottleneckedGamer I'm not a huge fan of these technologies to begin with (Cyberpunk looks awfull with FSR for example), wherever I can I try to play at native resolution but sometimes I don't dislike how it looks. Unfortunately I've never experienced DLSS because I've never owned an NVIDIA gpu so I'll take your word for it, I also haven't bought the game and I'm just refering at how it looks on a youtube video, my opinion could change if I ever decide to play it

@@lukasr1166 frame generation looks like a joke from both AMD and NVIDIA. I've only seen negative reception from it and some videos are showing a lot of artifacts while playing. When I get the luxury to choose I'll always go for FSR only when it's applying the sharpness and anti-aliasing effect which looks ok in some games.

Hardware performance aside, the main quest line has game breaking bugs that forced me to use a console command to complete a mission. So now my save is ‘modded’ and my achievements are disabled. And no, you can’t load an earlier save. Once you use certain commands, it removes your unmixed saves. Thanks, Bethesda.

In my opinion you should also test with FSR2 disabled at all. FSR2 enabled With 100% resolution scale acts like DLAA and may decrease performance a lot.

The DLSS3 + Frame Generation mod from PureDark is a game changer! I have an I5 11400 F (very bad CPU) with 32 GB of DDR4 3600 and a 4070 TI on a 3440x1440 display... In this area, using the optimized settings from HUB (quality preset) and 85% upscaling, I went from high 50s and low 70s to 100+ fps most of the time and worst case scenario it dips to high 80s, DLSS looks way better than native and FG is like magic, feels like I downloaded a better PC lol

no because fsr3 still needs good fps to work as intended (and will obviously have some artifacts). AMD recommends 60fps to use fsr3, at least for me 60fps is already enough so no need to use fsr3 at this point
