I love that big civilian outpost. I've had one as my main base for a few months now. The way I did was I built three outposts there all pushed up right next to each other in a triangle so that it covers the whole POI, but also has room all around it for building more structures. And because it's 3 outposts I have 3 build budgets to build with and can house 24 companions. What surprised me was the companions actually treat it as one big outpost and sandbox around the whole thing. It's really cool.😄

Oh interesting, They've sandboxed in the POIs I've taken over, this way, but it's really cool to know they sandbox between blended outposts too, I didn't they'd roam between beacons

Doing this on a civilian outpost on mercury has been a life changer. No trees to grow through structures and a near-infinite credit vendor with a 1 hour wait on a stool.

This is a fantastic find, thank you so much for sharing this exploit. You had very clear directions, it worked the very first try for me on xbox. Hope they never decide to patch this ;-)

Such helpful information from the Queen of Starfield outpost and ship building… I have some POI took over bases from different techniques… however this is such helpful way… thankz and cheers!

Fantastic idea! I am on PC and had absolutely no luck using keyboard and mouse after about 25 attempts. I tried using a controller instead and it worked first time :D I'm not sure if the Kb/Mouse activation was just too fast or what, but thought I'd share in case anyone else was having that problem.

I have a character on PC now as well as xbox, haven't tried this with kb/mouse yet, but I can imagine it being difficult. For me at least I find the controller so much better for anything outpost related. I was ready to pull my hair out just trying to place decoration items using kb/mouse

Say whaaat? This is like THE best discovery in Starfield. I prefer the POI like Meteor Shower Impact Sites. When I renew GP I'll have to try this. My favorite outpost so far is high atop a mountain on Alpha Andraste III. I haven't been doing much for building in this game as I like Fallout 4's system more. Fast Travel while Overweight ftw.

I heard someone else builds the outpost, moves the beacon on top of a hab, then moves the hab, and that lets them build bigger than normal outposts. Maybe that technique would work here too. But I'm definitely going to give this technique a try.
@MissOPlays
@MissOPlays 2 дня назад
I tried that in the past and wasn't able to get it to place in the restricted zone, you might have more luck than though
@XoRandomGuyoX

Personally I think I wouldn't mind having my structures just outside of a pre-existing structure, sort of make it into a twin settlement. I'd probably focus on the civilian outposts that guarantee a full trader. That would help with resourcing and building, and provide a guaranteed zone aside from the Wolf system(or Kryx) to offload contraband without those annoying scans.
@destroyonload3444
@destroyonload3444 8 дней назад
I saw another channel post this technique a while back. I'd like to have a mod though to take over POIs and restore them, hire workers, output resources and/or credits. Similar to owning mines in Skyrim.

I just found out that you get a huge* new player home in a really cool cave settlement during the DLC and I would absolutely love for you to build in it! *as in 5 habs and an outside area in a huge cave settlement with vendors and a varuun mission board, its awesome spoilers: I am not talking about hte house you get after the main story but a buildable place in jareks rest you get, it seems nobody even tells you about it (may be wrong though)

I JUST literally built an @MillsBuilds inspired trailer park just outside a huge civilian outpost like this one shown in the vid. Guess what I'll be doing TONITE! Thanks guurrl! We all appreciate you!!! EDIT: hmm, I wonder what ship landing looks like though? Assuming of course you cannot land at a taken-over POI. So once you take over an outpost, and then try to land at it, what does that look like? Or are we forever stuck with an additional/arbitrary "Landing Site" POI marker, where you ship will be several hundred kilos away? Just curious, thanks regardless!
@rabidgears
@rabidgears 9 дней назад
You can build a landing pad there if you place the beacon in the right spot. Otherwise, your ship will just go to the nearest landing site. Edit: BTW, you can delete and replace the beacon as many times as you want, if you don't get it in the right spot the first time.
@TaylorSmith-godbucket
@TaylorSmith-godbucket 9 дней назад
@@rabidgears ok yeah I just tried it. While this is a totally cool trick, I think I'll have to choose the POI carefully. Like Miss O says, all of the terrain will regenerate the first time you travel back to it. I picked Hyla ii, and while it did look kinda cool to have the outpost taken over with swamp, rocks, and palm trees, it made just walking around difficult. Couldn't even navigate some hallways due to rocks and trees. If I commit to this for a base, I think I'll try a desert or barren planet, like she suggested. Anywho! Cool nonetheless!
@MissOPlays
@MissOPlays 8 дней назад
@@TaylorSmith-godbucket if you put down furniture, rugs, mats, or something down near any unwanted rocks or trees, that should make them disappear again, which is one way you can deal with them without mods
@TaylorSmith-godbucket

@@MissOPlaysyeah no worries, I know about that trick, I use it on my regular outposts when I need some landscaping gone. There was just a LOT on Hyla 2! Thanks again, we appreciate you and your channel!

I had a major issue when I put a Darkstar landing pad at a science outpost I took over. My ship glitched the f^€# out and I almost broke my game. I know I’m reaching the limits of save file bloating with that character, so I don’t know whether it was that, the landing pad mod, or a combination of problems. Luckily I was able to recover it by restarting the console and loading an earlier save but yeah. Wasn’t expecting that issue because I used the invisible landing pad mod at a different POI outpost with another character and have had no problems so far. So I would caution you to make a good recovery save just in case.

How can I differentiate a fix POI (with always the same NPCs/Faction) with a POI that change? 😊 You are doing a really good job. Looking forward to the mods you will share to us :) Greetings your new follower
@MissOPlays
@MissOPlays 8 дней назад
You can kind of get a feel for them after you find a few repeats of the same POI, but a few signs are things like there being a terminal, or being given a quest that involves a terminal, those are used for a few random encounters. If there are multiple NPCs interacting with each other, talking about some threat, or exercise is another, as are corpses with data slates, or transient NPCs like scavengers, friendly ships landing, things like that. Established looking civilian settlements with an indoor shop are generally fixed, and any populated with an enemy faction milling about. The locations tend to take a long time to reset normally, and the hostile encounters don't tend to be too bad if they happen, usually no worse than a normal outpost attack

I've tried taking over a certain POI thats not marked on the map and has water b ut the water always disappears, any ideas? (Answered) Also is it possible to take over the area of sarahs story quest, love it but anytime I try glitching it in it seems like the restricted area stays even if I get it in there (the restricted boarder doesnt show up anymore but its still restricted)

Are you sure you're releasing the place button before moving the beacon forward? Holding the place button down too long was the thing that kept tripping me up at first. I also found if you're using a controller propping it up on my leg and using both hands on the right side, the left thumb hitting the place button, and the right thumb doing the flick made it easier to get the timing right when I was first starting to get a feel for it
@rabidgears
@rabidgears 9 дней назад
It's difficult to do. If you're on PC, it's easier to do with keyboard and mouse. I tried it with a controller and I couldn't get it to work. It also only works with randomly generated POIs not the permanent places like the cities, Vulture's Roost, the Dream Home, etc.
@rabidgears
@rabidgears 3 дня назад
@@cecp73 I have no problem doing it with keyboard and mouse, which is how I normally play anyway. I've been doing it for months now, so I pretty much have the process down. I just tried it with a controller to see how easy/hard it was. I've seen others say that they find it way easier with a controller, so I guess it just comes down to what you're used to. Edit: Oh and the not working with permanent locations thing has been known about since this glitch was discovered.
