@@freduncle9999 How so? Each time stamp is at the moment I get off the ladder inside each different Hab so that people can skip Hab-Hab if they wanted to, or go back to one they wanted to view again.
I would really enjoy a showcase of all the larger habs, the 2x3 and 3x3 habs and the like. just found your channel today, have to say i really enjoy what you are doing here.
@@freduncle9999 The only one I could see that wasn't accurate was Stroud Ekland Control Station and it has been fixed. All of them are timed to start the moment I step off the ladder inside each Hab so that people can go Hab-Hab as they like.
You are doing the exact sort of videos I was looking for. Actually walking around the interiors and comparing. Even analyzing what you gain/lose in the connections. AND you are doing it in a friendly, personable manor. I'm sticking around.
I just love how the computer consoles are still making noises like server racks with HDDs inside. Quite retro for a game set hundreds of years in the future.
Just a suggestion but as you found out ladders do sometimes delete stuff, if you put down two of the same habs with a companionway in between you can see what the door/ladder would delete on that end between both versions. Example: hab/companionway/hab. Keep up the great work, really enjoy the series.
Many out there are planning to build their dream ship. I have an idea what my ship should look like, and I want to come as close to that idea as possible. Now, I can watch all the "big" youtubers out there showing what they think is the best, why they think it's best - but mostly without showing it from the inside - , and how to build it. A perfectly optimiser ship is nice, sure, but if it isn't looking like I want, then I am not happy with it. You on the other hand show us each individual module, giving your thoughts to it and allowing us to pick the module that's right for our idea, without having to buy all the individual modules, and without telling us "this here is the best, use only that, everything else is bs". Thank you for your work!
Thanks for keeping going man. I know you’re making like a saga of content here but I’m still waiting for a streamlined video (maybe when you finish this series) that shows “you pick xyz habs for all the work benches, then you use this piece for crew stations to be max, and the rest is visual” and you’ve showed us all the visual differences in this series
You pick up 2x1 Workshop, 2x1 Infirmary or Science Lab and 2x1 All-in-One Berth and that'll give you all the crafting stations and two passenger slots, then either 2x1 Control Station + Viking CP cockpit or DS30 Ares Bridge for eight crew stations. For weapons I'd suggest 6 x Vanguard Obliterator Autoprojector + 4 x PBO-175 Auto Helion Beam + 3 x Exterminator 95MeV Auto Helion Beam and you'll just melt everything in seconds. Auto weapons can fire at full rate as long as they have power before needing to recharge, so you have insane firepower even with just one blip in each weapon, it just takes longer for them to recharge. I'd also suggest using White Dwarf 3015 Engines as they have the highest top speed at 180, might be a bug since every other A type is 150 but go for it while it's there. E: Based on this video if you don't want passenger slots then you can remove the All-in-One Berth and use Nova Galactic Control Station for the crew stations and galley.
This is worth a sub guys! These videos help new builders and will keep helping for years. While the billion videos showing missions spoilers won’t last beyond a few months.
Excellent videos, love this series. It really makes me think differently about my connection points. I have been doing a lot of staggered connections between habs which essentially nuke a whole end of two habs because I'm connecting on two sides of the fore end of my most central habs, and it's nice to know what I'm missing. I think an essential thing to learn is: which habs are best to lose two sides of the fore, and which habs are best to lose the port side of the aft and which are best to lose the starboard side of the aft. Knowing that would possibly drastically change my hab selections.
I can already see this being a series folks regularly come back to when designing a ship. So thank you for doing so man. I already want to teardown half my ships and rebuild them after learning just placing port holes or snapping them in certain spots ruins the interior. This will save many hours of trial and error, so thank you and keep going!
You're doing a great job (mostly showing off the interior AND explaining the impacts of placement. By far the best for those of us wanting to see how to choose what without hours of save-build-check-cus-load and repeat. A few suggestions and advice... first, while the ladder in is a good way to avoid most editing of interior, it does do some, I would recommend just having two of each hab that connects at opposite ends , thorough review 1st hab, when done - quick zip to other hab to just the end that was impacted on first. ... 2nd ... For some , the storage boxes can be a big deal make sure to take a minute at end of each hab to count them up. Lastly, and this is a difficult one but should be noted - certain items 'spawn' in certain habs , and wall lockers can have medical "boxes" in them ... As an example, I know that the Nova Gal Captains quarters will spawn (on a regular basis) 2 digipicks in the locker, 3 random tea packs on the mini table opposite the lounge chair, 2 more random tea packs on the corner desk at the other end, the galley spawns a plum and a synthameat (usually turkey) not to mention in the cubby 3 or 4 bulk cooking ingredients. Lastly, the first aid kit near the wall locker will spawn Med kit, trauma kit, or emergency kit if you don't put anything in them and don't open it till it does have items
I have noticed that even the Ladder can delete a bit of interior and in some videos I've made comments there of. Noting the additional Storage wasn't something I realized was important until probably half way through this series of 19 videos unfortunately. As for the 'Flair' items that populate the Habs, I'm uncertain what triggers it but I do know that my changing everything every day for those videos wasn't doing me any favors because every once in a while you'll notice a Hab that was populated with "stuff" and I was actually surprised while walking through them lol.
If your channel is blowing up its because I have been looking for videos comparing all the ship habs for ages and you are the first channel I have seen do it.
Thanks for all these videos... They have been of great assistance in choosing what I want on my ship! I swapped an useless armory for a brig! Great for keeping Cora out of the way...
You have such a unique presentation style. Most people compare styles, but you talk about what gets removed, similarities to other modules, storage, snapping. I built a massive Deimos battleship, but after seeing these videos I think I prefer the interior of Nova Galatic.
After you go through all the ship parts what could be interesting is going through all the weapon traits you can find on rare and higher weapons. Keep up the great work, it helps a lot
This is good for a basic idea of how the stations look. The centers will largely stay the same, but depending on how you build your ship, the ends will change depending on how you attach modules... Because the game won't let you place your doorways.
Congrats on the Growth. Your the only one doing good reviews of the ship compartments. Pointing out which direction is the "front" of the compartment while inside would be a nice addition, although I understand there are mods coming soon to let you rotate the habs (including having sideways 1x3's) that will make direction irrelevant, but the way you point out wall section/decor deletions for doorways/connections really helps people visualize their final layouts is Excellent! I spent hours trying to design my interiors when i could have spent minutes checking your hab tours.
Keep up the great videos! I'm saving all of these so when I get ready to build my own ship I'm armed with all the knowledge I can to make it awesome! Thank you!
Great video! Good to see the pros and cons of each module. I tend to use 2 Control Modules to max out crew, even on the Razorleaf. Turns it into a force to be reckoned with. I ended up with the Taiyo since I like that clean look on the inside. Thanks!
Thank you! I've subbed and also watched several of your excellent videos about the various ship parts. Just starting to think about what kind of ship I want to try to build "from scratch" and these will be very helpful! Now if only there was a space ship mall so we could buy from all the different ship companies in one place... :) Well expressed and well organized videos, nicely done!
For PC let's wait for a mod to do that. Right now we can use cheat engine to create a list of everything, but they are all placed in one tab which makes it a hassle to find the part you need.
My man, you are providing a service! Living the layout of your videos, especially with the new timestamps. You seem to be a genuin guy, and it adds to the charm of what you do. Here's hoping you also end up doing the bigger habs one day, haha! Oh, just a heads up, in case you're interested, you can use your boost pack to get up ladders without climbing them, in case that's something useful to you. cheers mate! Thank you for the walk through vids
Another good one. One thing I'm noticing is this: Deimos has an early 23rd century Star Trek look, Hope Tech has the look of a fishing trawler or made up of stuff found on the side of the road, Nova is what the Frontier seems to be built with, Stroud-Ekland feels like militaristic sci-fi (since it mirrors Deimos a lot) like B5 or the Leonov in 2010 and Taiyo looks like Lone Star and Barth decorated it like Eagle 5. At least the control rooms are a little tidier. The limitations and changes that where each hab has a door connector or a structural connector is really infuriating.
These are great comparison videos. I think that Nova Tech is mostly my favorite of the interiors. Demios is so sectioned and plain. Cant wait to see the big unit comparisons. You got a sub from me. No one else I have seen is doing comparison videos like these. Lots of ship build videos but nothing like you are doing. Hopefully you build what you think is the perfect ship layout, and then show us that layout with each of the brands as the Hab units. That would be amazing. Would take a lot of time to rebuild the same ship 4 times, but I would love to see how the feel of the ship changes with the different brands as the hab units.
If you keep series like these up, get ready for those numbers to be a regular feature. You're an easy sub with stuff like this, all info no fluff. Rock on, and don't bother responding to my silly comment lol. Just wanted to congratulate ya
Really love this, Once you are done with this series i would love one where you take all habs from each company and showcase together. I would also suggest that you add a label in one of the corners for the hab we are currently watching, and maybe a small diagram of which direction its pointing and where the entrance we current view is, you could also make some screenshots that could be put to good use on the different wikis. Fianlly it would be nice if you could hide the HUD (opacity can be set to zero in settings)
I can certainly hide the HUD, hadn't though of that until just now. Also, I'm working on figuring out how to add flavor text so that while I'm inside each Hab it states the Manufacturer. Thanks for the suggestions.
It's the only thing I can think of. There's like 65K Starfield videos (not joking, YT shows the amount when you set the Category) which is why I never expected to make even the smallest dent but here we are and I couldn't be happier.
@@delindsay my only complaint is that I haven’t heard anyone talk about the level requirements for things like reactors and grav drives (not sure if there’s one for habs) it’s a bit annoying when you’ve unlocked the relevant tiers but you’re only level 30. It wasn’t until I found a reddit thread about it, I discovered you needed to be level 60 to unlock the biggest grav drives, reactors and so on
Great vids. My favorite set up is to have a Taiyo bay at the back into a Hope Tech Battlestation (2x2) with a Hopetech Captain’s Quarters attached to the starboard side. I also use front bay because it’s easier to get in (my ship is big for no reason). Anyway the setup means that straight into the shop you have your bedroom on the right side and your crew manning the station on the left. A small room separates the two halves when done this way so it feels less like Lego. If you add a companionway right above the little room it allows you to just boost up right away into floor two. No mazes. Hopetech in this setup means your bed is on your right side and the navigation computer for fast travel is on the left upon entry.
Watched all your comparison vids, these things are fantastic. Thanks for taking the time to put these together -- really impressed with the no nonsense presentation. Earned a sub and keep up the great work!
If no one has offered up doing a video, per hab, showing what you specifically lose with each door/window/access point, I humbly offer it up now. Being able to understand the effects of where the connections happen would be useful for those wanting to ensure specific elements are preserved.
I did that with the Armory video by showing the Armories 1st, then showing them connected and fully windowed out to show just how much interior it deletes. It's the 1st video in this series: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rfEIuDoK3o8.htmlsi=TQKH4cTTlalau0uf
Taiyo actually has 2 more control stations on the interior if you don't come in by ladder where you did or through the Port wall at the same spot. Doesn't add any Crew Capacity though.
Congratulations, I'm really enjoying the content. I'm definitely learning a lot more from you than some other channels. I was wondering if you would be making a video on the Star Eagle remodel/upgrades. Keep it up!
Stroud and Deimos are color variants of the same thing. Deimos uses more black floors and bright lighting. Stroud doesn't always blast the lighting like Deimos does, they have some chill spots to offer. But generally the floors are bright white. Hopetech and Taiyo are color variants of the same thing. Hope uses lots of navy blue and dark stuff, Taiyo is very white. This is kind of weird as Taiyo has that marketing for something special, but actually the habs are a reskin of the "cheap look". Nova Galactic is the unique one, very much taking the retro futurist style we know from the movie Alien, all the way back in the 1970's. Almost like a creamy white and also the textures often show a lot of wear, chipped off paint etc. As is appropriate considering NG is an old manufacturer that went out of business decades ago IIRC. My big disappointment with habs is that I can't have a bed in an XL hab. I had the idea that I'll use at least a 2-wide, and then place the docker and bay entrances as close to the bed as possible. But there is not a single 2-wide hab with any kind of bed... Well, the brig's there. But then you probably have to fiddle with the doors every time. And I don't wanna be sleeping in the jail. I can't wait to see how much money Todd will ask for new habs that should have been in the game already. And then laugh and download modder creations for free.
Someone replied about an hour ago and said they were able to add Cargo into a container they had on their Ship after the Cargo Hold was full. That leads me to believe yes. However, if you were to delete that Hab without removing items from said container then they'd probably delete as well.
I was just wondering the other day while building my ship how would the interiors of the habs look like and that there isn't a definite compilation/ blog/reddit post that has every hab comparison and guess my data leaked through my thoughts as RU-vid recommended your All in One Berth comparison video
First off, thanks for doing these videos, these are very helpful. Second, and I got to be honest here. I hate how cluttered/messy almost all of the habs are. Like why the hell is there a step ladder and a broom just laying around in a control station? Things like that, just don't belong in that area. I pray somebody makes a mod that cleans up the habs, cause it's like a bunch pigs crew these ships and it drives me nuts, lol.
From the looks of it, if you are going to build a ship that you are going to stay in for a long time, Nova Galactic seems to be the company who has the best Habs.
I really like the hope tech computer core. It really looks like a control room for the grav drive nav system. What would be kinda sick is if you put a hab left and right that connect at the front. Lose all the junk and open it up while keeping the stuff at the back. Could go really well with either a stroud ekland viking or demos ares bridge. It would be far easier to get the connections you want with the viking but imagine a giant fuck off cargo ship with your crafting on the bottom and that computer core in between some other roll play Habs. Personally I'd put like a captions courters on the left with a living courters on the right. You could even extent the rp and put a brig and armory on the bottom. Makes me wish you could take live bountys red dead style. Would be super sick if all factions offer them as quests too. Pick off some high profile executives for the crimson fleet, capture some rouge spacers for the free star collective, or turn in some dangerous crimson fleet lackies for the uc.
@@delindsay it would be cool if there was a connection customizer that enabled you to get more stuff like that. I doubt Bethesda will change it but I can't wait to see what the ship builder overhaul mods end up like.
Also: You keep pointing out the 'extra storage' tubs, those actually do NOT add any bonus storage to the total ship storage, they all go into the total weight of the ship's cargo (as does all the wonderful little trash knickknacks that populate the ship by default), as does the Captain's Safe. I don't know if it's a glitch, but I've accidentally sold stuff that I wanted to 'save' by putting it in my Captain's Safe or in individual boxes/racks/mannequins in my Armory, because it all shows up in the "Sell > (shipname)" list as up for tossing.
I like the Nova Control Stations. Open hallway with the control stations on the sides. HopeTech is also good. Has a sort of industrial feel to it. Deimos and Stroud are just odd. I like the full wall computer banks of the HopeTech and Taiyo Computer Cores. Deimos and Stroud feel cramped. Nova is messy.
Vasco just tells you Hi..., but for me he says Hi, Captain Ben since my character's name is Ben. I figured it would have attempted to speak any player name.
Love your videos. They been really helpful on planning my ship. I do have a question though. If you snap one of these control stations to the side of a living module thing is there a way to choose WHICH are it snaps through? Since there are obvious areas I would NOT want to loose?
It would be useful to know which direction is Forward - that way you can plan for center, port, or starboard placement. This of course is only necessary because they snap differently - which is useful in that you can figure out where the ladder is going to go.
You can use the ladders to orient yourself. The ladders between floors are always towards the bow (front) and dismount portside (left), while the ladders for the docker and bay are always to starboard (Right).
07:03 you mention coning in from the back you loose some storage (shelves) but I did not see any storage get highlighted. You mean asset non useable for visual purposes storage? Yeah i'm fine loosing useless shelves. :)
hahaaa its funny how 1 brand had less chairs to compete with its competitors. Its weird only 1 chair was in 1 brand but another brand which looked essentially the same had many chairs. I think the best thing they can do for habs is display them as a cutaway or show the habs as a engineer drawing. Im sure they can add a button press to show or hide.
I don't bother with the computer habs, i use 2 control habs, one on top of the other behind the Nova Galactic dual level bridge with access at both ends, upper deck has Captains quarters at back, lower deck has workshop at back, with with three 2x1 habs & an infirmary, no waste of time 1x1 storage/comanionways etc, docker at rear of upper control, bay access at front of workshop Started life as Ranger Star Eagle, now has 5 engines, almost 1,500 weapon damage, 6 vanguard PAS, Plus 8 missile launchers, manoeuvreability of 100, speed 150, C reactor 38 +2, cargo capacity over 3,000, grav jump of 30, shield 780 (1400+ with skills), mass of 1,280 Will take out 4 enemy ships in under a minute, including the Starborn ships, Crimson fleet/Ecliptic/Spacer ships around 3 to 8 seconds to destroy depending on their Class A/B/C Think Thunderbird 2 & similar in design
@@delindsay anything that is only cosmetic & does nought but add mass doesn't go on my ships, i include companionways/storage, brig, battie station, fairings, engine mounts, frames, wings(except the small fight wings/weapon mounts, radiators, armory, stupid dockers that have a 1x1, buffers, reversing thrusters, thuster modules etc. If it's not an aid or utility it don't get added Oh & my ships (the 3 that i use, 2 stolen, 1 from Freestar Rangers (which have been radically upgraded at great expense) Are all big, sleek, powerful & extremely lethal with around 1200 damage & 100 manoeuvrerability, all with 150 speed, 2 Class C, 1 Class B, Class C's were originally Class A's
Can crew actually perform a function, or are they just clutter, mean, can you assign a crew member to man the guns, or have another a member of the technical or communications teams?
Not actively no, except Vasco. If anything attacks you near the landing bay he'll attack. Other than that, they provide passive benefit like better Shield HP, more cargo volume, faster Engines, etc.
Deimos's control room disappoints me, from a battle orientated ship manufacturer I expected some tactical interior in combat with tons of screens with compact stations, instead of a meeting room. Even Nova has better control room than Deimos.
3x1's depend on the Hab but the Living Quarters just adds an additional area, mostly for seating, lockers, etc. The 2x2 Battle Station adds 6 Crew Stations, which is an additional way to to boost total Crew if you don't want to use a Control Station.
The main issues I have with all hab module is the inability to flip them by 180° so as not to lose anything essential, other items can be flipped so its not as if the mechanic isn'talready built into Starfield, plus many of the hab modules are of less practical use than a chocolate fireguard, namely the engineering, brig, computer core, storage, companionways, mess hall & battle stations, yes battle stations, the 2 main ships i use have 2 control room habs which is a less cumbersome set up & gives 8 crew stations instead of 6 for the same amount of space & a paltry extra 4 mass, i've fitted 6 engines & a C Class 40 reactor anyhow, mass not a big issue & i hate all C Class engines the P to W ratio is atrocious on all of them, they need to be a minimum of 80,000 thrust to justify the weight, with the heaviest min 120k thrust, do the comparison mathematics for P to W ratio Being able to assign a doctor to the infirmary hab would be very useful, I hired a doctor in Akila City as part of my crew
@@delindsay Nothing wrong with having a doctor aboard, especially as she isn't constantly flapping her jaw like Barrat, booted him off cos he wouldn't STFU, drove me nuts, i wanted to jettison him like unwanted misc cargo, mid battle YABBA YABBA YABBA AAARRRGGGHHH!!!
No, it's for assigned Ship Crew to give you passive bonuses to the Ship like faster speed, more cargo, etc. Passengers is for those specific Missions where you have to transport XX people from one place to another.
I know you are comparing the 2x1s... but your video makes it sound like that is the only option for crew stations. There are command bridges among the 2x2s, called Battlestations, that give 6 crew slots per pop. And also, much like the other video(s) you do not compare all of them. Like Taiyo, for example. You show off the Taiyo Control Station 2x1 Top B. The Top A and both Bottoms look different. Yes, the other 3 share a look, but you still don't compare all of them.
Indeed there are, that's why I will be showcasing them all, every Hab in the game. I just started with 2x1's as that's what most players use in the early stages of the game. After tomorrow's video I'll be moving up to the 2x2's.
@@delindsay Yeah, but you also forgot the alternate 2x1 ;) There are A and B types of most at their staryards/main stations. Like the Taiyo Control Station A and B. Bottom Controll Station A is the same as B (although i assume that is a bug) but Top Control station A and B are different. From the top of my mind Nova also has A and B 2x1s. The Taiyo one is just the one that came to my mind, because i like the submarine flair of the B Control Room.
@@IshanDeston I've checked all the top/mid/bottoms before and found no difference. That could be because it was one specific Hab type that didn't HAVE any differences so maybe I assumed none of them did?
Question I have is; you keep saying that you'd nuke this or that station coming in from that direction...Does it matter? Or is it just cosmetic? If they're four crew stations in that Hab, and you obliterate one by way of a passage way, does it reduce the crew, or does the fourth crew member just wander around, but is still effective? I'm guessing it doesn't matter. If it says it has four crew stations, no matter how you integrate it into your ship, it still counts as four crew stations. Lol...how to say you're Canadian without saying your Canadian..."USB-Zed". 🤣
@@delindsay yeah I was just wondering if it was just cosmetic or actually made a difference of you replaced it with a door or window. I like these vids. I haven't actually played or even bought the game yet. I'm waiting for my new CPU and GPU to be installed. 600 bucks to play a 70 dollar game 🤣🤣🤣
@@delindsay well to be fair I'm running a R7 1800x and a 1080 so it was time to up grade and CDPR just did the same thing with cp2077. At least Bethesda didn't raise the sys reqs on a game I already bought like CDPR did. That was messed up.
I can answer this-- you can max out your cargo storage AND still store in any individual chests (5, 10, 150). So if you planned your habs right, you could have say 1600 + 150 +150 +10 +5 + etc.
