My tip to quickly get those destroyed ships for the piloting skill: start the Vanguard quest to get access to the flight simulator, every kill you get in the simulator also counts to progress the piloting skill. You get enemy ships to kill way faster this way instead of go looking for them by skipping systems

The tip about the box in the basement of the lodge having infinite storage was a new one for me. I keep all my resources in the safe in my room. (I've got A LOT) A couple of other tips that some people might not know. A class ships are faster than B or C. A class engines mostly top out at 150 m/sec. (there's one type that tops out at 180, but you need Starship design level 4 to get it) B class engines top out at 140 m/sec while C class engines top out at 130 m/sec. You can also find A class reactors with up to 23 output while it's harder and much more expensive to find B class reactors that are higher. (I can't use C class yet) You can also convert a stolen ship to a large capacity cargo ship cheaper than you can buy a ship with the same storage. (with level 1 starship design you can get cargo pods with up to 950 capacity the same size as the 1 by 1 bricks) It's much easier to navigate using the surface map once your realize your watch has a compass. (the little white mark on the inner ring) For the early game when you need money, loot all weapons, suits, packs, and helmets and load it all into your personal inventory before trying to land at New Atlantis. Choose the lodge as a landing spot and store anything you want to keep, then do the sell loop. Centurian Arms first for guns, (12k credits) then Outland and UC Distribution for 5k each for any loot type, then Jemison Merchantile and the Trade Authority terminal in the spaceport district should put you back at your ship with up to 32k credits without having to wait on vendor cash to replenish. You can be vastly over encumbered, but the slow movement pace is worth the large payout.
@theonlysjc

What I do is gather all my resources out of my ship and into my personal inventory before landing in New Atlantis. You're obviously over weight BUT what you can do is choose to land at the Lodge and it will literally spawn you just outside of the Lodge front doors. Not a problem at all to run to the basement and dump everything in that chest. I think I have over 200 items in it currently. I just take them all when I'm using the workbenches or research table. As long as you're not sprinting long distances, walking around the basement from workbench to workbench isn't a problem. Then just dump all resources back in the box.

Another tip I found useful selling lots of items. Can't be bothered landing on a planet, running around each stores selling a whole lot of weapons and gears you've looted? Just stay in orbit and hail a ship whose willing to trade. Most of the times they have 2,100-2,500 credits so it's quick and easy way to sell stuff without landing on a planet. Jemison has at least 5-6 ships in orbit so it's easy to sell 10,000C worth of stuff without having to land.

A easy source of credits up front for minimal time is go to a ship technician, like at New Atlantis, use them to modify your ship, delete a hab space and cargo space, then buy it back or sometimes just shifting them around if you have enough hab spaces. Then access your ship inventory and sell all the misc items it put into your cargo hold from the ship at the trade authority. Rinse and repeat, add habs to increase the value of the yield. Certain habs have higher value items with them. a 12 hab I made makes around 5-7k per cycle. Enjoy.

Thank you so much for the video. I never realized that I can slowdown the object rotation during building. That is a gamechanger. Few things I'd like to point out: 1. All Trade Authority vendors have 11k each on reset, while the trade terminal will have 5k (or 6k i forgot). This isn't limited to just The Den, and all trade authority vendors will also buy contrabands. (Assuming you get past the scanning process) 2. Combat perks at least for me, is a godsend on very hard difficulty. Without later perks legendary enemies take extremely long to kill. Maxed out ballistics/laser plus your preferred weapon types I feel is a must. Note that since you mentioned NG+ it's also a decent idea to take the utility perks later on or on NG+, after your character is very competent in combat.
@Jolsn
@Jolsn 9 месяцев назад
I found that combat perks were just overkill for the first 30 levels, if the game gets harder later I'd rather take those combat perks later into the game as well. Also I'm not against taking any of them obviously, just don't overdo it the way I did and neglect other things like Tech which lets you make more credits from lockpicking or upgrade your ship to class C earlier, all of which are better than 10% extra damage on one of the weapons in my opinion
@corteaz

@@Jolsn One thing to keep in mind is to upgrade those combat skills requires increasing number of kills with said weapons, or crits etc. Taking them earlier allows you to start completing those challenges whilst its 'easier'.

I have mastered the art of lockpicking in Starfield and I never use more than one Digipick for each lock that I pick because I created a method that I follow religiously and each time I can pick a lock so easily. Okay, I've said this on a few YT channels and here is my tip for lock picking follow my instructions and you can't go wrong. The most important thing you need to do before you pick a lock is DO NOT rush. SAVE before you pick a lock because if you mess it up and rest assured you will until you get used to it and have a notepad and pen to hand I will explain what the notepad is for later. Lockpicking requires muscle memory so if your memory isn't good use a pad and pen. STEP ONE Before you pick any locks I cannot stress enough to SAVE before you start picking any locks because if you mess it up just go back into settings and load a Quicksave or a Save and ALWAYS line up from the inside out and if you haven't got a good memory write down the sequence. WHY LINE UP LEAVERS FROM THE INSIDE TO OUTER RINGS? Why line up the rings from the inside out, well if you line up the leavers on the centre wring first you then know that all the other leavers are from the remaining rings from the centre outwards. You have white wings and blue rings and blue rings as you progress making it easier to crack the lock. I can crack a Master Lock in a couple of minutes once you line them up you just go to each leaver and open the circle. I would suggest levelling up the lock picking as soon as you can because there are so many goodies huttedn behind locked doors. I've picked up legendary weapons and heat early in the game because I mastered the lockpicking early. At first, I was utterly confused then all of a sudden I realized it was easier to start from the inside out and line up each ring. For example if 1 and 3 open the centre ring that leavers 2 out of 12 leavers for a Master Lock. Then 8 and 2 open the next ring and that leaves 8 leavers the next ring is 9 and 4 that now leaves 6 leavers. The next ring is 5 and 6 now leaves 4 leavers our of 12 the rest just line them up. When you open a blue it can change white just go to the next sequence for that ring that you made a note for either in your head or you wrote them down and it will go blue. Honestly, it sounds complex and complicated but it isn't it is simple once you get used to it you will say to yourself its simple and it is.

The only time you need to loot everything not part of the scenery is at the beginning to speed level up your commerce. You need 250 unique items to get to level 4. You can get filthy rich within hours of leveling this skill and selling Legendary Loot. ● Rank 1 - Buy for 5% less and sell for 10% more. ● Rank 2 - Buy for 10% less and sell for 15% more. ● Rank 3 - Buy for 15% less and sell for 20% more. ● Rank 4 - Buy for 20% less and sell for 25% more. ● Rank 1 Challenge Progress - None. ● Rank 2 Challenge Progress - Buy or sell 25 unique items. ● Rank 3 Challenge Progress - Buy or sell 75 unique items. ● Rank 4 Challenge Progress - Buy or sell 150 unique items.

Yeah, I'm a loot goblin. Once I put points into Research Methods though and found that vendors offer almost everything with a bit of patience I started to skip most resources. I still vacuumed up Aid items though. While you can't fast travel while overencumbered, you can fast travel while sitting in the ship. So if I'm hauling heavy stuff I'll fast travel to the Lodge and get deposited just outside the front door.
@agirlnamedmichael1670
@agirlnamedmichael1670 8 месяцев назад
The item rotation speed helps but it's still difficult to get it to line up 100%. Also, I disagree with looting crafting items early on. You fill up? Just hop in your ship, fast travel to the Lodge, go to the basement where the crafting stations area, and on the table right behind the research station is a yellow storage case, which is BOTTOMLESS STORAGE. Yes, you have to pick your resources up out of it when you need them(via the "take all resources" button), but it's no big deal since every station is right there. When you're done, just put it all back with your "store all resources" button. I don't necessarily agree with sticking to the main story at first. There's no real way to tell people when to stop without spoilers, so I won't go into anything- BUT, learning the game in your first playthrough is going to be the most fulfilling for you for several reasons. Once you are ready to go to NG+, you won't need to worry about learning basic game mechanics, and you can play NG+ as intended(metagaming FTW!)

If you have a mission selected, look for the blue dot on the sky and select it and off you go.

Quick correction on the looting : you reeeeeally want to get your _Commerce_ skill up to tier 4 as soon as possible, so that everything you sell earns you 20% more, and everything you buy is 25% cheaper. Since that requires only that you sell items -- INCLUDING trash like pens, folders, cups, forks, etc -- you really DO WANT to loot everything in the beginning. Playing cards especially, since those have such a huge variety and weigh nothing.

I would also say do the Freestar Rangers quest line to completion for a nice ship, the UC Vanguard line for a free penthouse apartment and complete set of epic armor/helm/jump pack that I think is better statwise than the Mantis armor and lastly the Ryujin questline for a free skill point in Manipulation.

I find outposts and the premade player housing almost entirely useless as they currently exist. The only real purpose for getting resources (outside of building outposts) is for making mods and the research required to be able to make the mods. And you can very easily just buy any of the resources you need for those things without the need for outposts. Outside of gathering resources the only other real purposes for outposts or player housing is to have a sort of "main base" where you can keep all your stuff. But all the storage containers available have ridiculously small inventories. You have to fill huge areas full of storage containers just to equal the capacity of a ship with a very modest cargo capacity. Not to mention objects in outposts and player housing routinely just decide to disappear, and that includes storage containers full of items, armor stands with full sets of armor on them, and weapon racks full of guns. It could be fun to play around with creating a really cool base and decorating it up like I used to do in FO4. But until they fix all the bugs and glitches I don't touch any of it other than to temporarily throw down a landing pad when I want to build out a new ship design.

The reason you buid an OP early is for the power leveling you can do with Al and Fe farms. You don't really make them to accumlate resources.

I don’t know why they did not include a ground vehicle. I am sure that someone will mod it in the game or allow our ships to free fly on planets.

before you open the case with the mantis armor save the game. that way if you dont like the stats reset the game and try again. it doesnt decide the stats until you open the case. took awhile but i got a set with all the weight carrying perks. gun weigh less, resources weigh less, +40 and +20.

You can fast travel by setting course using the quest menu without having to divert power to your grav drive. That way when you arrive at your destination and there's enemy ships you don't have to fiddle around shifting power back to your weapon systems. Likewise, even if you're a long distance from your ship you can use the world map to fast travel to another location on the planet without having to move back to your ship. You'll also appear outside your ship saving a couple of load screens.

Quests to focus your first play through all faction quests. And locate all the temples and the main storg of course. out piloting as soon as possible so you can drive class C ships. Do this by joining the UC Vanguards first mission is passing a simulations ship combat free xp to run it over and over. Tier 3 in tech i believe your going to max ship designers it lets you use the best stuff for your ship. Max out particles cannons. Neon has some nasty ones 80 dmg to hull/shields with a range of 3000 or 3200. Max out those on yourship and add the same turret but make then auto turrets they do 150 to hull and shields. And finally buy some suppressors as your third. Or if you wanna nuke and leave no survivors theres also missiles there that do 277 add 2 of those and youll be unstoppable. So youve maxed the ship designer and piloting. And your just starting new game plus if your good at ship combat*** sell the missiles buy a suppressors and if you can afford 2 perfect. Then jump all the way to the level 70-75 areas. For 2 reasons it'll be worth it. Even if your a low level. Once there build an outpost on a planet where they have lots i mean lots of wildlife. Sleep get the buff. Also way back in new Atlantis go to the wells go to the cafee. Buy all the thier shepards pie. The pie gives you 2% exp buff for 60mins it stacks with sleeping buff. And if your married also it helps. Go buy yourself a good rifle and lots of ammo. If you invest in weapons mods upgrade your rifle (Advanced Beowulf) to max dmg mine was about 135dmg i think and it shoots cheap 7.7 i believe. Fly to your outpost shoot the wildlife that herds it self and they mass shoot anything really get yourself to level 60 fairly quickly then your able to buy the best of the best stuff for your ship. Also before you build your outpost on your way to that level 70 zone fly pass the crimson fleet the key. They spawn alot of ships. Power down weapsons and max into grav drive bc we out dis bish. On your way to that level 70 75 zone use your suppressed weapons and shoot out out engines and board the ship take only armor and weapon's. They sell for the most. If the ships better then yours class b keep it sell your ship. Buy a suppressors and repeat until you get to your level 70 75 world with wildlife. By then you should have a class C ship worth around 250k to 300k that youve stolen from pirates or spacers. Then my favorite part familiarize yourself witb ship building. And edit your 250k ship add build your own. Save yourself money by using their reactor and gravjump and shields and probably some good particle cannons. I should make a youtube it would have been easier to show and explain haha. But loving the game so far. Just starting my third playthrough

One more tip - you can actually destroy asteroids for materials and some loot. And another one - pick up all weapons, even terrible one, if you struggle with ammo because they are loaded. After that you can just drop that weapon.

Pair it with a Skip Capacity Boost Pack, maybe some Space Jet(Amp) for when you need jump height, and you'll vrooom across planet surfaces. But don't forget that you can Fast Travel to markers you've discovered. You'll want to be speedy if you ever bother with surveying planets that have life.

Another thing that most people don't know, especially if this is your first BGS game, is that you can pick up anything without actually "taking" it just by holding down the interact button. It occasionally comes in handy if you want to steal something without getting caught, just pick it up and move it. You can rearrange decorations or even move dead bodies, which comes in handy if you steal ships and don't want corpses in the cockpit for a week lol

so the only thing different than fallout 4 is 1 you have a ship and 2 new game plus adds a feature you don't have to spend so long in console commands giving yourself experience to max out your character to get the skills you want. oh and gathering resources is far easier.

I must be one of the few people playing that doesn't actually like the Mantis gear. I did the quest and got the ship and suit but don't really like the look of either of them. Currently I'm using a Shocktroop suit with a deep recon helmet and navigator pack. The was also a Trackers Alliance suit in the bathroom of the mantis quarters that had better protection stats than the mantis suit. (just normal quality though) For ships I really like the look of the Rambler for sale in New Atlantis, but I also like the Crimson Fleet Ghost. Of course both need some modifications to make them really special.

If you have problems with solving digipick puzzles, just find the solution before you use any digipicks. It does take longer but it prevents you from doing errors. Especially if you are out of undos

If you get stumped before slotting any keys it is free it back out and the game will generate a new puzzle when you try again. If you have an auto-selects banked you are safe to start with that first to get a proper key piece selected for the outer ring.
