You can auto drop all your “hot drop” items into the transfer container as well. If you build the second style storage chest it has an output link! You can just have a chain of those as you do your other container types and chests as you said hold all “other “ types. So you just hook it up after you drop your main resources and boom auto drop all other items!!

Whoa! I didn't know you could output to a storage chest. Great find! For others trying to find it, go the decorations tab, go down to storage crate and select the second version of the storage crate (i.e. the 2/6 crate).

Pretty sure it's only the industrial storage chest you can do this with. Using "Z" tips in the video I have set up an industrial storage chest with about 10 of them and weapons, armor, notes and everything drop into the transfer container and there you go everything goes into the storage chests. I am on Xbox so I tend not to build too many containers I don't want any issues or bugs for building way too many connections. Update, now if they had put a filter method into the game for storage that would be neat.

Found an interesting way to keep your base from being attacked.. Wait til a ship lands nearby, go to that location attack the crew, outside and inside. DO NOT take control of that ship, it will stay there and no more ships will land there.

You can also make a wall out of all the resource/mats storage containers, they don't take damage, so just stack them around the outpost instead of inside and then the NPCs can only go through whatever gaps you place. Funnel them into turret kill boxes.

Also, to get the build menu in your Outpost, in PC, hit F for the Scan then R and Bang you are in the menu. No need to go to a console or the Outpost computer to open the build menu. then use tab to switch outputs/inputs connections. etc :)

If you're still looking for a good place for Titanium, Newton V-B has Titanium, Tungsten, and Copper. It is not an extreme environment, so no extra skills needed to put an outpost there. Newton is located almost straight up from Cheyenne, a tiny bit to the left, near the very top of the star map. I had a base like this on one of my characters, but decided that it was easier to store everything at the lodge for crafting. FYI, you can fast travel directly to the lodge from anywhere, without having to run through the city encumbered. Just get inside your ship, put all of your resources in your character inventory, then fast travel directly to the lodge. It's easy to run from there to the basement to drop everything in the infinite storage box on the table behind the research lab. Any time you want to do any crafting, just transfer all of your resources to your character inventory, do your crafting, then transfer it all back into the infinite storage.

@@hadoken95what do you mean by “fixed”? I think the developers placed the infinite storage container there on purpose. I don’t think it was an accident. The wall safe in the bedroom is the same. TYVM, this has helped to clear up A LOT of the questions that I had regarding how these systems work. It would be great if you could see all connected containers to the transfer stations (like the way the fuel generators display all connected H3 available) so you could easily pull resources you need for say setting up new outposts, without needing a separate container system for "bulk" resources, but there is no shortage of things wrong with this system. @timothyhedrick5295
@timothyhedrick5295 8 месяцев назад
@RitchieOaulDalto - I'd strongly advise you to at least get one Outpost up and running with iron and aluminum extractors going. Add a single fabricator manufacturing "Adaptive Frames" and outputting them to a single (or preferably a few) warehouses. Warehouses are the same cube size as a standard solid storage container they are just titled "warehouse" because instead of storing raw resources they store fabricated products. You will need copious amounts of Adaptive Frames available whenever you decide you want to get around to doing something like the OP above as they are the component you need to build all the daisy chained storage containers. If you do this, you can then run around playing all the other aspects of the game and while all that time is passing your auto fabricator will be happily spitting out hundreds and hundreds of adaptive frames that will be sitting there ready to use whenever you decide you want to get around to some serious outpost/container farm building. Without having done that, your container building will really slow you down because you will have to start from zero building all the adaptive frames you need. You'll be happy later you have avoided that time suck and grind.

Also people are saying that if you put 1 point in botany you can just grow the plants that give structural material for chests at your base

You can also use the buyback menu when trading with friendly ships from your personal inventory to overlor your ship cargo infinitely, just at a small potential cost of credits. Simply fill your cargo hold to capacity, then put all your excess cargo in your pockets - fly somewhere with ships to trade with and trade all of your excess cargo from your personal inventory to the other ship, then use the buy back menu to buy it all back - you may need to do it in a few waves if you don't want to spend any credits, because you still have to pay the buyback price even if they didn't have any credits to pay you for the item when you sold it. If you're patient, you can also use storage containers in ship Habs to overload your cargo infinitely - simply load up your cargo hold, then load up the hab's storage box until full, then go to a ship technician and use the customization menu (I don't think you have to actually do any customization, but you can wiggle some parts around just in case) and then confirm the customization: this will shove the container's inventory into the cargo hold, even past the cargo hold's limit.

Instead of building a ton of storage at the inter-system cargo links, I just connect the extractors directly to the link. As little as two or three extractors work fine with the speed of the link. I have not run in to the cargo link bug. If you find a resource on a remote system with no Helium, just create a gas storage bank and put the Helium there manually. Check out the Altair system for core resources. (Altair I, II and III-b).

hell ya glad it was useful! not sure if you saw the pinned comment but found out that you can also use the storage chests in the same way and can link them - just have to create the right kind in the build menu, I think it's either 2/6 or 4/6 can't quite remember but when you make the right one if you go to the outpost menu you should be able to link it up! This should let you drop weapons and armor and stuff in the transfer container and it should auto-sort just like the resources

FYI, you can move your beacon after you set up your base, so you could move it right next to your drop off location if you wanted to speed things up. Also, if you have the Personal Atmosphere power, you can use that while encumbered to carry way more than you should (like 100x more).

But save and check your map when you do. There's a bug where you can lose your outpost marker when moving your beacon.

I noticed you didn't stack those storage chests in your base. You can stack 3 or 4 of them and next time you want to redecorate the hab, you just pick up the bottom one and all of the chests above it are linked to it. That way I made a stack for suits, one for weapons, one for aid, one for food etc. and it's easy to know later where you left your stuff. You have multiple types of containers so you can have a different looking stack for suits than for weapons and the rest.

Wow, and wow! Great how too video. I've been struggling with this for 200 hours. Call me "Mr encumbered" I never actually thought of building a storage system quite like that and boy what a little ripper you have built. I'll have to stop exploring so much and concentrate on my out posts more. My poor little out post support staff, half of them do not have beds, I feel so sorry when I see them sleeping on a bench 🙁 I will be copying your system from today. Well done I love it. From downtown Perth WA🙃

Okay so the storage flow is awesome, and I built my setup exactly the way you laid it out. My only frustration is that it appears that I can't look through one menu to see all of my storage. It's all there, it can all be accessed in crafting menus sure, but I can't just go to my storage bins and check what I have without going one by one. With that many stacks, that takes FOREVER.

The power personal atmosphere will fully negate the O2 penalty from being encumbered. It will also fully reset O2 and CO2 levels when you hit it and it pretty much recharges fast enough to hit continuously as your CO2 builds fully back up.

Some good tips in here so I'll leave one as well, if you didn't know since I see you run to the terminals you can go into outpost build mode from your hand scanner. F → R like placing a new outpost then → V for aerial view and use Tab to swap between edit and place modes.

I came into the game a skeptic after the mixed reviews. But man I am thoroughly hooked. I got heavily side tracked from the story trying to build my outpost lol. Only annoying that I did not know much and used skill point's and not out in the relevant ones to allow research for upgraded cargo link for inter system linking of cargo.

Nice setup! Even though you can instantly use the endless storage box and workshops in the Lodge's basement it is still fun to build. FYI, you can access the outpost build menu from everywhere within the outpost borders by pressing scan and there will be an outpost button. Too bad Bethesda hasn't come up with a good reason to harvest resources at that scale. The only two options I have found are exp farm or weapons upgrades to sell upgraded weapons at much higher prices. Some kind of a mining mission board or a possibility to passively receive credits for your resources would be a great addition to those mechanics

There are missions that require you to supply something from your outposts to a settlement (I had missions from a mission board that ask you to organize a supply route from your outpost, for example, to Akila City and send them 100 comm relays or a two-hundred-something of Helium-3), and these usually require industrial amounts of something heavy that is not very useful to carry around even in your ship. You also can't complete these missions by delivering the required items yourself, you have to use the outpost's supply route.
