If you are ever playing a tabletop RPG and need a theme to play when introducing an epic villain, look no further. Works equally well with fantasy, superhero, or science fiction. Just put this on and let it play a few seconds before you begin the description or put the figure in place.
Used this with the Mutant King from Deadlands Hell on Earth. Even the theme is appropriate : he lives in the Luxor Casino and has a Praetorian Guard of mutants that look like Egyptian Gods.
Alot of David Arnolds Stargate score was used in the BBC Horizon Dinosaur documentary called Giants of Argentina and when I first watched it in the early 2000s I was like 'hmm, why does the music for this Dinosaur documentary sound so familiar" 😄. Than I knew why. But it absolutely fit with the documentary as well. Makes me wish David Arnold would do the score for a big budget Dinotopia movie.
There's the TV show, StarGate: SG-1, which got 10 seasons, followed by 2 direct to DVD movies("Arc of Truth" and "Continuum"), as well as the Spin-off series StarGate: Atlantis, and the sort of sequel series StarGate: Universe. There is more than enough StarGate content out there for you.
I think that not only is Ra more menacing than Darth Vader (or the Empire, but not Darth Sidious), but that he also has a more menacing theme. And it is pretty hard to argue against Ra being more menacing, because I get the feeling you'd have just as much success in trying to negotiate or reason with him, as with a scorpion. More or less the same thing with the other System Lords, short of having one hell of a proverbial gun to their head, or if it benefits them as well. I also like his theme better than the Imperial March.
Max Frankow As would any other Sith, Jedi, or anyone else well trained in the Jedi Arts for that matter. The blasts from that Hand Device might be dangerous, but I'm pretty sure a lightsaber can deflect it, even if it does apparently have some sort of concussive effect. And unless they work on the same principles of the Jedi Knight games, I'm guessing a lightsaber would be able to penetrate the energy shield as well. Ra would talk big talk, but would never be able to walk the big walk, and the end result would be Ra and a bunch of Jaffa lying dead on the floor. I'm saying that Ra (and by extension, Apophis) has a more menacing theme and personalities then the Empire, but they are no match for the power of the Force.
+Joel Szasz I think it's wrong to compare it to Star Wars. And it's not like Jedi and Sith are competent. The movies and books proved that. Plus Ra is different from the TV series. He is suppose to have actual powers, not just technology.
KLamki1 So Ra could take on a Jedi Knight or Sith Saber? And it can't be argued that the Sith are incompetent, but that's because they are stubbornly greedy and always fighting each other. The younger, arrogant Jedi too, can be incompetent. It can also be argued that the Force (or if you're cynical, perhaps the plot) or Palpatine's powers had a hand in the series of events that lead to the destruction of the old order, and then Palpatine's death. But Ra would need to have at least powers comparable to a well practiced Jedi Knight to prove a really dangerous adversary. Too bad the Goa'uld never had these powers you mention in the TV series. Guess it is from the novels from before the TV series that I've heard of, but I know so little about.
+Joel Szasz You make it sound like the Sith and Jedi are like invulnerable supermen when they are not, some of the best Jedi masters got killed by only a few clone trooper squads. I am a huge Star Wars fan, but you can't mix two universes with different rules sets together.Ra powers where briefly mentioned in Roland and Deans novel. After he took a host he summoned the tribes across the world to his location. He can liquefy the bones that he used with his device. A lightsaber would do little good. The force of repulse device that can cripple your bones and cause internal bleeding. It's a lethally force push. TV series Goa'uld kind of turned into a joke, but I still like them. I remember an episode that had Seth's entire body get ripped in two just by a focused blast by the Kara Kesh. But if you want go force unleashed force powers, you forgot that both Ra alien/and Goa'uld can possess bodies. If they need to they could just transfer their energy form (or snake tv series) and it be game over for Jedi and Sith.
I wish that version was available somewhere, or that there was a soundtrack only option on the Blu-ray. This song is a great theme, but having the voices makes it 100 times better.
mi personaje favorito de esta pelicula, es ese bello dios solar de aspecto androgino, aunque él en el fondo es un monstruo en toda la extension de la palabra.
@IJN Yamato Or a Romulan D'Deridex class Warbird/battleship versus ISD! Which ship would win in one on one spaceship duel. The Romulans are far more advanced than the Galactic Empire in many ways.
@IJN Yamato The Romulan Warbird is far more powerful and has very powerful shields and powerful weapons such as Disruptors and Photon torpedoes. But it isn't very fast under impulse power also not very manuverable either, but it is an impressive a very much feared ship in the Alpha Quadrant.
@IJN Yamato The Ori warship (also known as the Ori mothership) was the standard attack vessel used by the Ori during their crusade in the Milky Way. Massive Ori star craft capable of ferrying thongs of Ori warriors and their families into territories occupied by nonbelievers. its power source is not known. Activation is required by a Prior. The warship's primary weapon, a parabolic indentation at the forward section of the craft, launches bursts of energy very similar to that of Ori satellite technology. These are fully capable of destroying Goa'uld Ha'tak-class motherships with a single shot. Smaller "pulse" weapons can fire from the ship at any side. Enough of these can also destroy a single Goa'uld Ha'Tak Pyramid mothership. Propulsion appears to be achieved via a ringed device which occupies the aft section of the craft. Powerful Ori shields protect the ship from all known forms of weaponry. Though very large, these ships are capable of landing in a Planet's atmosphere. They are also very agile for large vessels. INTERIOR: Living quarters appear to be located at the fore section, above the weapons array. BRIDGE : The command center of the vessel, the bridge is maintained and flown by a Prior. At the center of the room sits a chair, not unlike the command interface which operates the Ancient defenses in Antarctica and Atlantis. The port side of the room includes numerous panels, as well as hardware which is compatible enough with Ancient hardware to be interfaced with Earth computers. The Orici herself is able to fly the ship remotely in the event the Prior becomes incapacitated. ENGINE CORE : Little is known regarding the propulsion behind Ori technology. However, a core was discovered which appears to be responsible for the crafts ability to motivate itself. It is likely the technology possesses similar traits to Ancient ships such as their city ships, or Ancient warships. ORICI CHAMBERS: At the very front of the ship is a room reserved exclusively for the Orici. Here she slumbers, is served her meals, and is tended to by servants. An observation portal lies at the forward section of her chambers, where she may look out onto the planet on which the craft has landed, and to issue commands to her subordinates. It is possible all Ori warships possess the same chamber for the Orici. CHAPEL : Each Ori warship contains at least one chapel for ceremonial purposes such as Prostration. A large, bound copy of the Book of Origin sits upon a great altar at the center of this room. The chapel it likely secondary to the mission objectives of the Orici and her soldiers, who likely forgo Prostration in the event a battle of ground assault is ordered. PERSONNEL CHAMBERS: Living space is provided for all personnel aboard Ori warships. Married couples are allowed to reside together. Single soldiers may possess only bunks and live in crew barracks, though this is not known. If you want to watch this video clip showing the Ori Motherships in battle to see how powerful they are, you may. I linked it down below for you. @@Jackson-ub1uv Yes they do. But they soon proved to be totally useless when the Ori came about. The same fate would go for the Star Destroyer if it encountered an Ori Mothership that has the most powerful shields and very powerful weapons in the Stargate Universe of any race in the Milky Way Galaxy.
+TheRevan1231 According to the EU for Stargate Anubis ruled the Gould before Ra but Ra was able to lead a rebellion against him and send him into exile. Later on Anubis returned for round two and like before was soundly beaten by Ra.
I like the movie until this scene. Then Ra shows his face and the film collapses like paralized. By the way, in 1:52 the Dune leitmotiv from the 1984 film shows up if you listen carefully.
