Stargate new series loses its creator… no Brad! 

I am afraid that whoever gets to run and write the new show, aren't knowledgeable about what is already written about everything and thus shrews it up. Therefore I would like the old team back and continue the stories of all three series. All of them has so much potential and untold stories still. I really hope we will get closures on it all at least.

I have to say im leaning very strongly in the direction of "no Brad, no thanks" but a continuation of the Stargate universe is just too grand a prize to completely disregard without at least giving it a try.... I will say they NEED to nail this right out the gate... pun intended... or im out like the Asgard.

No Brad? No sale. There are a few other people that I would trust with the franchise - but I can't imagine they would do it without Brad at least being involved as a consultant.

I'll give a new series a watch, at least the first episode, but I am carrying with me zero fan loyalty or for that matter hope or expectation (I have an 'extremely' low opinion of Hollywood these days). My fan loyalty was very much attached to Brad Wright. Now it will sink or swim on its own merit. They have gained 'nothing' from me from usurping the "IP".

I have the horrible feeling this is going to go the same way as most recent reboots.... straight down the toilet.

yup, I agree, Brad never did anything wrong, all of his work was of a superb quality, even if his hands were tied. it all sounds like they will get people like the ones that did the rings of power, and in that case...RIP stargate. BUT - this opens up an opportunity fro Brad to get in touch with someone else, like Netflix...create a counter project and stick a dagger in Amazons back. I would actually like that better.

I'm not interested in any new SG-1series without the original actors and creators. MGM should have never sold the franchise. It was a really stupid idea. Brad Wright is the answer and the original cast is as well. SG-1 is all I watch of the series. Amazon is being foolish.

It would have been better if they did what you suggested - tell Brad to come up with a bigger story. I’m not excited about someone else running this. I personally wasn’t excited how Star Trek ended up.

Amazon gonna kill this franchise. After the rings of power, I'll give this Stargate series exactly 5 min to not suck and then my interest will be gone and I'll simply settle on watching reruns from when the show was good. Amazon is 1000% making their lives difficult with this.

Brad Wright , Robert Cooper, Joseph Mallozzi , Paul Mullie without at least one of those guys its likely going to be some sort of soft reboot or full reboot

Without Brad I have little confidence the new Stargate will be even close to the original. Fans will be be very disappointed.

I'm disappointed. Every show has a certain personality that setsthem apart from their peers. Orville is very different from any Star Trek show, that's different from each other. And what made SG1 have an enjoyable, distinctive, personality can be traced directly to Wright's showrunning style. The interconected aspects of the shows, how some characters like Bra'tac and Jacob Carter would become just as important to the franchise as O'Neill and Carter; how problems and technologies would come back to present problems and solutions - after a lot of sweat from the tech teams to make them working. None of that can be easily seen in other franchises, and it's integral to the SG world.

I still want new Stargate (very badly) but I will wait for reviews as the last few years have taught me some very harsh lessons about how corporations use popular shows not as a vessel to tell more stories, but as a propaganda tool to further demented agendas. More power to them if that's their business model, but my money will stay mine and not theirs until I watch a TON of reviews from sources I trust. Cheers and thanks for the updates!

Yes, I think we need to create a massive grassroots campaign. Mail physical letters, and we should try and come up with something physical, small and cheap that represents Stargate. Like a n O ring , or maybe those small cannon pencil sharpeners, signifying we want them to respect the cannon, that we can all send to their offices.

@SCI-TREK Amazon is the same company that handed COMPLETE control of a production costing nearly A BILLION DOLLARS to 2 writers who had ZERO experience of running a show. I'm talking, of course, about "Rings of Power". So, I don't put much stock in their level of common-sense. Plus, the simple truth is Brad and other regulars of the classic "Stargate" series will be seen as the 'old guard'. It's the same Elon Musk is doing to Twatter - getting rid of the old crew and completely making it in their own image.

If true, Amazon really doesn't know or understand what the fans want. Case example; The Rings of Power.

There were mistakes made with Atlantis that allowed the show not to have an ending. The other mistake was with Stargate Universe. While I do like them all, it is n ot fair on us the axe shows WITHOUT AN ENDING

If one looks at what Amazon has done to LoTR it will be a woke mess that ignores original cannon. Dont hold your breath

Regretfully Amazon aren't big at being inclusive. Brad's day may yet come.

What this means? Stargate is now officially dead. Sure, we might get a Stargate-themed show, film or otherwise. But it won't be THE Stargate we loved. The only thing that will remain is the name. We might still get something good and worth watching, but it will be something entirely new and different, with a ring-shaped teleportation device as a story-telling device. I will still be curious about what will come out of Amazon, but I certainly won't be excited or making noise about it, like I would have otherwise.

Personally I think Amazon is making a *HUUUGE* mistake here by not having Brad onboard. I won't be watching they try to butcher Stargate. No thanks! I can only hope that Brad goes back to write/invent a completely new franchise.

I would be happy for any Stargate made but please no "Reboots" or anyone else who doesn't have a clue about the long established cannon. We do not want Stargate "Discovery"!! Cannon is the fans bible to any show most talked about and remembered. A continuation is the best way to go filling in the gaps (Since the show hasn't been on air) between SG-U and the events now.

I have always been a stargate fan. However I'm going to wait for someone else to review the show before I give it a chance. I've been disgusted with what they did with The Lord of the Rings franchise and the wheel of time franchise. If it turns out they do the same thing with stargate I'm not even going to give them a chance I'll just (nope out).

I love what Brad did with stargate, I wasn’t the biggest fan of what he wanted to do with the fourth series(bring the stargate program public). However the only thing I REALLY want is a series that continues on the built universe

Will a new team be as knowledgeable about Stargate and really understand it's essence and what made it work? I reckon they could at least do with advisors who used to make Stargate. Otherwise they may ruin it by making like other sci-fi that's quite dark with a lot of negativity, dealing too much with characters and their emotional issues, often overly screwed up and unpleasant to watch. I had hoped they'd keep Brad in some capacity to help keep what made Stargate special (except for Universe at times when they made it dark and negative with screwed up character interactions). So I'm a bit worried they're going to ruin it.

As long as the people behind the expanse are behind I'm optimistic about the show.

I don't really have high hopes for a new series and even less for several series without Brad Write involved.

Stargate won't be the same without Brad. I don't think I will watch it. So many shows that try and redo the original - mcguyver, quantum leap but they are not the same and ruin it basically. Looks like they will now do the same with Stargate

After the very mixed fan reaction to the Rings of Power (produced by Amazon) being very different from the Lord of the Rings movies, I don't know what to think as far as having faith in Amazon producing a good Stargate show. I hope they don't botch it up. Continued adventures of Stargate Command from the past various series would still be the way to go. So, maybe some hope yet, hopefully Amazon will earn my trust if they pay attention to the fans.

I have given alot of thought to the kinds of stories that could be told if a new vehicle starts with the President revealing the existence of the program. Stories about corporations that were involved leaving Earth because of death plots against them, teams that have to become or incorporate seal teams because of various unfinished lifeform studies that see various alien critters running off or being released by a believer cult, most importantly reviving the Asgard using Jonas Quinns people's because they can hold a repository that gets found in another episode, following the volunteers as they know all the important things that make Asgard which would not repeat the cloning ...

At the very least, Brad should get the opportunity to tie up the Atlantis and Universe stories with one off movies so the fans get closure. If he doesn't get a show, the fans should petition to get him to make two films to give us the closure we deserve!

Yeah, it should be Brad. If not Brad it needs to be someone extremely knowledgable of the franchise. Concerned at who might get this. I can see AMZ picking a name that they think will wow fans but then having little to no real understanding of the lore.

In 2022 you can't count on "The property/owner is there to make money so they wouldn't ignore the fans and make a bad show." mentality. I think in the 10 years or so of Star Wars, Marvel, LOTR (this year), that companies do not care about the fans of the property. I have a feeling that any new Stargate show will be like Wormhole X-Treme!

With no Brad it just give the new series an even greater chance to be vandalised, like all the other franchises we have loved over the years, Dr Who, Star Trek, LOTR, Witcher to name a few. New writers, new agendas, retconing, dismissing the lore or hadn't even watched any of the series. Would you like to see a painting/masterpiece finished by someone that hated/didn't care about the original creator's work? Pure madness! Just let Brad finish what he started then if Amazon were fussed they can do what ever they wanted afterwards. Least the fans know what they are getting!

At the end of the day, I imagine that anything Amazon does with the Stargate franchise without Brad Wright will probably be crap. You only have to look at Rings of Power as an example.

Considering what Amazon did with Rings of Power, Wheel of Time, and others, I have little hope for any new Stargate without Brad Wright...

Lets look at the last Stargate Project that took place. Universe was not an Action Adventure like we all like and watch. It was turned into a Body Swapping Cheating Butt Political Drama that had a Stargate on board. We called it Battle Gate: Voyager.

Bring Eli back, continue the story in Universe, and would be nice to bring the other cast if they can. Finish the story in Universe, and not just 2 lame episodes that don't answer anything. Give us at least a season to wind that story down (or ideally, roll with it for the rest of the show). Otherwise, NO SEAGULL!!!

There are literally DECADES of Stargate history. My greatest fear is that all of that rich history will be dumped to put together a new series that has no links or relationships to the franchise we've come to know and love. Let's get back to saving the galaxy!

Well considering every other soft "reboot" of old shows (both movies and tv) have been shit woke garbage lately I'm not expecting much with the original show runner out. I'll watch the first few episodes but I'm not expecting much.

Have Amazon learned something from the New Lord Of the Rings prequel show ? Have they learned that the top-down patting the fans on the head, and telling them "we know what's best" -- didn't quite work out so well.

No Brad or Joseph but I read somewhere that some Hollywood actor could star and maybe even be showrunner and not sure I want Stargate rebooted and destroyed like so many other great scifi.

I hope they get a talented producer behind the wheel. Stargate had great start, but at later seasons I could see ideas being recycled, some episodes seem subpar. SGU had a potential, but it looked too similar to Battlestar Galactica reboot in some ways. Often great directors lose some of their creativity and fire they had at the start of career. It might be similar with a producer. However I'm afraid we get something like Hellsing without Alucard, Star Wars with shallow plot or Star Trek with more "feels" than logic (and not in Kirk-womanizing way).

If "Big A" wants to make Stargate without Brad Wright, that's their decision. I'm just afraid that something like the web series junk Stargate Origins will be the result.

SG1 was a massive success.... if it ain't broke...dont fix it...

The whole notion of not even giving it a chance if Brad isn't there is just counterproductive. That's throwing the baby out with the bath water. Judge it on its own merits, not whether a particular person is running things. Go into it with an open mind without having already decided you'll hate it. You might be pleasantly surprised. Or you might not. But let it stand or fall on its actual merits, not preconceived faults. By all means, though, lobby for Brad's involvement. Having him involved in some way will be beneficial if only because of his experience with the material.

Just cancelled my Prime, I'm so sour over the Rings of Power they bombed. I legit hope they listen to fans this time & I would definitely reinstate my Amazon account. Leaving out those Rings writers is a must, I work hard for my pay & they should too!!

The way I see it, not going with Brad Wright is definitely a mistake on Amazon's part. If there is a possibility they want to create their own version of Stargate, don't be surprised if original fans reject it and new fans never get the ball rolling.

It makes absolutely no sense to not include Brad Wright and others from the old guard in some capacity, even if just as creative consultants. That is unless they are deadset on giving some randoms an IP to ruin instead (a distinct possibility, unfortunately). The problem with Stargate was never its content, it was always its marketing and the fact it had to be on television with all of the challenges around that. Now that the series would be on streaming and those challenges would be gone, Amazon literally would just need to give the fans a series consistent with the tone, quality, and maturity of SG-1 and Atlantis and we will literally market it for them. The best way to ensure that happens is to include Brad Wright and/or others who made the franchise what it is in some capacity. I've seen too many shows that were EASILY slam dunks get destroyed by people who CLEARLY did not know what they were doing or what the franchise was about (**cough**cough** Halo **cough**cough**) and wasted massive amounts of money on their flawed visions, but someone in an office somewhere insisted that those specific people run the show anyway. It's not necessary to deal with that in this case, when they have someone who is excited to get involved and has experience with the IP. With their financial resources, there's no reason to not include anyone from the established franchise in this beyond personal business decisions. I am not kidding when I say that I will literally break down in tears if they have some randoms ruin Stargate like so many other franchises have been ruined, especially when so many people from before have wanted to get it back off the ground for some time now.

Unless the people hired worship at the alter of Brad Wright then I'm out. If his story wasn't on the path for Stargate then I have to question their chosen direction.

1) amasown is only good in ruining things, look how they handled Lost Ark .... they managed to translate a Pay2Win game into something even less moral until the comunity backlashed ... 2) 4:25 no i dont think so .. a writer like wright, he wont take "we dont like ur script" ... and i dont mean that in any hybris-/hurt selfesteem-like sense. a good writer cant just throw they stuff they believe in away, they their vision they cant change what feels right for them, nor would they be ok with writing something they dont feel comfortable with, the result would never be of any quality they would support.

If none of the original creative talent is involved, why bother? These are the people who understand the material, and know their audiences. Get them back, and get them working, while they are still around to do it! I am sick of these heartless reboots that keep showing up, just to fade into obscurity… The only “reboot” which I can recall being successful, is Doctor Who, and this was more of a continuation, than an actual reboot. Actually, I also have to include Hawaii Five O, and SWAT, here. Love them, or hate them, they were entertaining… you could count Battlestar Galactica, but this was more of a reimagining that a true reboot. Are there any others?
