Remember all the fuss about needing a ZPM during the Stargate series? Well this video will explain what a Zero Point Module is and how important they were during the series.
What is a Zero Point Module? A Zero Point Module, also known as a ZPM, is an immensely strong and very long-lived energy source of great importance throughout the Stargate series, capable of powering entire cities and intergalactic spacecraft. The ZPM was invented by the Ancients, and units have been found both on Earth and in the Pegasus galaxy.
The device itself serves as an enclosure for an artificially created pocket of subspace-time. Zero point energy is extracted from this pocket until it reaches maximum entropy, at which point the pocket collapses, leaving behind a useless shell.
Visually, a Zero Point Module resembles a large, translucent group of primarily coloured crystals approximately one foot in height with a roughly cylindrical shape. When activated, a ZPM emits a yellow glow from its center, with a small red circle at the top illuminating once the device has been fully engaged. This illumination ceases once the ZPM has been disconnected from whatever it was powering or has become fully depleted.

@@edisonmenguez3165 I like anything from Stargate, however, I did not like universe very much, it was more like Battlestar Galactica. And while I do like elements of Battlestar Galactica, I didn’t like the way the special effects were done, too much CGI and the way it was done. Just wasn’t very impressive. Looked very phony.

HA, the human replicators in Pegasus seem to have plenty of ZPM - it seemed like 1 in every building 3 units power a city force shield underwater for 10,000 years - - plenty powerfull

Well they did possess the memories and knowledge of the Ancients, so they knew how to manufacture them.

I always saw the ZPM as a battery not a power generator. It has a finite stored amount of power. It never actually makes new power. Aka, not a generator but a storage device.
@user-ns8th6sj2j
@user-ns8th6sj2j 16 дней назад
The fact that the Atlantiana have continued to search for energy sources that are more deficient than the ZPM does not necessarily mean that these were difficult to produce, at least not for them, but But they just wanted to see if there was anything better I mean Let us look at the people we humans have batteries and also nuclear reactors nuclear reactors are incredibly energy-rich if you subtract the environmental risk they represent and Meanwhile we have had energy for so long but will it mean that we humans will stop looking for more efficient energy sources no

Kinda ironic ancients went with a universal battery connected to its own pocket dimension til its used up and collapses. Yet sought other power means on a water world had no thought to use hydro power, solar power, wind power, lightning power(despite having lightning rods to catch and disperse it into said water) or geothermal ready to power the shield/ city instead they had 3 rare batteries they couldnt recharge just left plugged in. When they coulda took city with them like the expedition did not 1 time but 2 times 1 to leave planet go hyperspace and plop on new water world then from there to jump galaxy and land on earth

Hydro doesn't really work in space. they could've done the Destiny thing again but would've been annoying to fly up to the planet's sun just to have enough power to turn the lights on, or they could've used panels but those wouldn't be fun to have around. There's no wind in space. There's no lightning in space. Also most of the lightning energy appears too quick to be stored, which is why the shield was only charged for a moment. They did have a geothermal mining station on Lantea, which was used to give the City-Ship a quick boost out of the atmosphere. And you're either pretty dumb or haven't watched the show in years, because they couldn't just get up off the planet and leave without getting immediately jumped by the entire Wraith Fleet. That's why they sunk the city, and that's why the had to be left plugged in, so that the shield remained active. Now why did the shield have to remain active? Oh, right. because the city isn't atmospherically sealed, which is why the shield is so strong that it's visible, so that an atmosphere can be held inside it. I assume that they weren't all that rare when the Ancients were around, due to the fact that they can make them. It was probably a costly procedure though, due to all the experiments with alternative power sources. Project Arcturus could have worked if interdimensional bridges were stabilized and they either found a universe without life, or did the thing an Alternate Sam Carter tried to do before her death and spread the Zero Point Energy drawn to hundreds or even thousands of alternate universes. It's not ironic, it's the fact that it was the best power source available at the time, and it worked pretty well.

@@MinecraftShadersandChill when i first started watchiong atlantis. the one thing i was unhappy about. the prduction of zpms was never discussed. a city that big that runs on three should have some sort of production line or room in the city. but its never dicussed. we only ever hear about how they have to find or steal zpms to power the city.

Would you want your phone to be powered by battery, or a hand-crank? Obviously, if in a million years, a few evolved orangutan find it, they might think wtf, why not a simple hand-crank...but to you, batteries, chargers, and powerbanks are ubiquitous, and the existence of a grid is basic. So for you, why would you go with something less sophisticated. Same as in whatever, would you wanna charge your electric car via wall socket, or by idk, bicycle generator...personally, you can go for the redundant option, but in case of a city/major infrastructure, why would you go with something less convenient, and more of a hassle (far less dependent, even). Ancients had more ZPMs than we do batteries, they were just as easy to use and produce for them, like the simplest zinc-carbon battery is to us, and - given the fact that there are numerous around, even today in the SGU - perfectly rugged, and dependable. What else would you want for a civilization. They had to start going for more only after the wraith happened

@@NightFlash24 honestly a handcrank would b better as it worked in world wars if u watch many movies of said times they had to hand crank the phone then could call wherever was linked even on ships. Beats a dead battery with no replacement. And u think like 1 guys comment I found about ZPMS where the comment was made on the very last room humans check after exploring every room and cataloging everything found in Atlantis they find a room with hundreds/thousands of zpms. Yeah if u paid any attention to this vid or the show itself both make it clear zpms were rare not some common battery they had in a AA battery space ready to buy for anyone with enough $ or able to pinch it. ZPMS were a very rare military grade power source used on bases and ships. Yes they had alot of power but ran out and didnt recharge they had trouble making them whether it was materials or the act itself. It wasnt a factory line pumping them out it was a scientist or group of them making each. Even the replicators who modeled everything after their creators didnt have them laying around after 10,000 yrs they had just enough and likely the next ones to swap out. I c ur a planet of the apes person so.... Ape says: Wats that coming out of her nose....(dark helmet, president scruub and Sanders climb out head) spaceballs oh s*** there goes the planet.

@@andrewjones4332This is wrong. A producer stated that if the show Atlantis went on another season they were going to find a lab on Atlantis that was out of phase. The asurans had no problem making as many ZPMs as they wanted, why would the ancients have problems? ZPMs were simply another power source the ancients used.
