I received a beautiful bouquet of Stargazer Lilly's from someone only to find out two day's later the flower..the leaves and their pollen are highly toxic to cat's and can cause renal failure. I immediately put them out on my terrace and tried to thoroughly decontaminate my apt. But now I don't know how to dispose of them once they die as they are still living fine in a vase of water on my terrace with flower food added. I'm wondering once the flower's die is that pollen on them still poisonous ? Any info you can offer is appreciated. My kitty is fine so far..I removed the flower's to the terrace Monday evening and it's Thursday now...she has no symptoms. I'd kept them high up where she couldn't get to when they were inside as I do with any flower's but in a window sill and pollen may have fallen ..which I've vacuumed thoroughly now and wiped all furniture down with damp cloth. They are so beautiful but florist rarely put warning labels on them for cat owner's.

Hi, I just received 24 Stargazer Lily bulbs from an online gardening supplier. I absolutely love my Stargazers but these were shipped in error and although I wasn't charged for them I'm left with the problem of what to do with them since it's already the end of June and ideally planting season is Fall or early Spring at the very latest. Any advice?

Store the bulbs: If you have a cool, dry place to store the bulbs, you can keep them in their original packaging or in a paper bag until the planting season in the Fall. Make sure to check on them regularly and discard any bulbs that appear damaged or moldy. Plant the bulbs in containers: You can plant the Stargazer Lily bulbs in containers filled with potting soil and keep them in a shaded area. This will allow the bulbs to establish roots and grow until they can be transplanted to their permanent location in the Fall. Plant the bulbs in a temporary location: If you have a suitable location in your garden, you can plant the bulbs in a temporary location with well-draining soil and partial shade. This will give them a chance to grow until they can be transplanted in the Fall. Regardless of the option you choose, make sure to keep the bulbs well-watered and monitor their growth regularly. With proper care, the bulbs should survive until the ideal planting season and bloom successfully.
