When I first watched this I went through it in my head and went like "yeah and then it's joey's turn in Rogues are we.. wait Jeff's there! JEFF'S THERE!!" awesome.
Well #1: "Rogues Are We" IS his song, so he's allowed. And #2: Up until Starkid Takes Manhattan, Jeff had never performed the song with them in a concert. A STM wasn't as large a concert venue as Elsie Fest, so I think Jeff is allowed to indulge his inner diva and soak it all in. :D Also, I think he channeling some of his character, "Sweet Tooth" while performing this song. It's kinda hard not to channel the appropriate characters when singing the songs.
How to know you're watching a performance of The Way I Do: At least one person says Jaime should have played Frebruary and at least two tell that person Denise had bronchitis during that performance. (It's in the comments of every Way I Do video)
The sad thing is that Denise Donovan is a great actress and a damned good dancer. In fact, I'd say she's probably the best dancer in the crew. (And if you don't believe me, go watch Ani: A Parody). But she's really not that great a singer. And the fact is, Jaime's voice fits "The Way I Do" far better than Denise.
I feel like Denise As February is really good because that’s what the characters like. February isn’t supposed to be the best and she has a simple and stupid vibe to her (not intended towards Denise who is amazing)
+RU-vid User Heh. Late response. Oh well. :P Yes, Denise was perfect for the character of February. Maybe they shouldn't have given February that song? I don't know. All I know is that Jaime's voice fits "The Way I Do" better than Denise's. Jaime and Meredith are the undisputed queens of the Starkid Love Song.
+Abby Sutherland Late response. Oh well. :p You may be right. I recently saw the vid of her and Dylan half-assing a song at AVPW just for fun and I saw flashes of a great voice in there in Denise. So I don't doubt what you've said here. I've also heard both the live version of "The Way I Do" (the play version where she's sick) and the studio version from the album (which was recorded after she got better) and I didn't hear much difference. So maybe you're right. Maybe her voice just wasn't suited to the song. Which is exactly what my original point was. Jaime's voice is better suited to the song. Do I think Jaime could have played February? Not as well as Denise did. Jaime is too smart. I don't think she can portray stupid. And Firebringer doesn't count because Jaime wasn't portraying stupid. She was portraying stupid comedian. Which I feel didn't work. I suppose that just proves my point, now that I think about it. The one role where Jaime had to portray stupid and it didn't come off as her portraying stupid for comedic effect (to me), it came off as just stupid (to me).
Dylan's Tootsie singing voice in Way I Do sounds so much more mature and it makes me so happy. I imagine Tootsie and Megagirl singing this in the future again
8:00 - joe accidentally rips open joey's shirt - he tries to fix it by covering his chest with his hand 8:06 - brolden said "fuck that! joey stan rights!!" - he opens his shirt almost fully open - legendary man 8:12 - joe finally joins the dark side - slaps joey's ass A thrilling saga
I love getting to hear Meredith sing this without the ‘Robotic’ voice mega girl has. Not that I don’t live the original, I LOVE IT!!! But she sounds SO AMAZING here!!!!
Russell Newman yes :( I personally love the way Dylan does it in the actual show. There's a little "li-i-i-ife" thing he does that gives me chills. Love it!
Victoria Wilson He got one of the lines wrong at the start of the rouges medley. It's supposed to be "You've no idea what I've got in store. You really think You'd be at my door if we had nothing to discuss"
+Jamie Jackson Thank you! I thought there was smth strange, but couldn't guess... Proud and amazed faces of Joey, Dilan and Jamie at that moment are precious! I watched it several times :))))
I love that Brian got the lyrics wrong in the start of the medley and didn't wince for a second. Like, I showed it to my mom that doesn't know the lyrics, and she hadn't even realized. That's professionalism right there.
for some reason whenever joe says 'we are the swindlers and the cheats' in rogues I always think it's sad how someone who wasn't in the original cast has to fill that role...and then i punch myself because i remember that joe was f***ing batman
