Years ago, I heard an interview of either a record producer, or another musician, talking about working with studio musicians. They said Joe was one of the best studio guys ever. You played the demo for him once, played the tune with him once, then hit Record. Complete natural musician.

God Dammit! I take about five mins to do what they did in 30 seconds. My brother told me to always wrap the string under about three times before tightening it. Who else did or does this? Been doing that for 44 years. Live aqnd learn. I wish Joe never joined the fucking eagles. I hate that mainstream bullshit! I'm a Sabbath, Stooges Motorhead type guy. BUT I love talent and guitar players that have that music inside of them like joe, Tommy Bolin, Dave Mason, Rory Gallagher, Pat Travers, Johnny winters, Mark Farner, Leslie West. You know Guys who are music inside and out and play with soul and feeling. No Bruce- He had it once but that was a long time ago.

What I’ve always appreciated about Joe Walsh is that he truly is a minimalist; never over plays. People who play ever riff they know in every song lack creativity. Joe plays some iconic riffs though.
@HipsterEatinShark

What is “ever riff they know?” Does Coltrane lack creativity? How about Mozart? Minimalism is great and works just fine-you don’t have to dog fifty musicians to praise one. How about, he skins a cat just fine, and leave it there 😂.

I went to a JJ Cale concert and I was up close to JJ up on stage and I'll never forget I was mesmerized by the way his right hand was strumming and trying to hear the results. To this day I think about him playing that guitar he put together with what he wanted and needed . After the show I hung out and got to say hello and he shook my hand twice and was a very kind and peaceful man . Oh yeah one of the BEST shows I ever attended. I was very fortunate to have attended that amazing concert, in 1971 at Carnegie Hall in NYC! I was only 15 years old. Of the countless hundreds of concerts I've been to over the years, that was one of the best and most memorable. I stood in the front, right by the stage, directly in front of the massive P.A. system... It was, to say the least, very loud. In fact, I FELT the music as much as I could hear it. I was thrilled to be able to relive that incredible, magical night again and again, after the release of, "The James Gang -Live In Concert" I consider it one of the greatest live rock albums ever recorded... up there with, "Live at Leads" and "The Allman Brothers - Live At Fillmore East". To me, Joe Walsh is a guitar god! I was also at the Fillmore East the night, "Dereck and the Dominos - Live At The Fillmore" was recorded... But that's a whole 'nother story...

The tip about how he leaves a bit of length on the string, then bends it down to make it impossible to poke yourself, is genius. So simple, yet, I've never seen that before. That makes a lot of sense. Anyone else have cats that like to rub their face on the guitar tuners while you play? It always worries me they're going to get poked by a string.
@chrisgeo1642
@chrisgeo1642 Год назад
It’s unlikely anyone would really notice the cent or two but when intonating a guitar you don’t want it on the bench, the guitar should be intonated in playing position if you truly want perfect intonation while playing. Also when adjusting the neck it’s best to trust your measurements more than your eyes. We all do it we look down and up the fretboard and check the relief that is usually fine to tell if it needs adjustment but before doing it take measurements then an eight of a turn and check measurements repeat as needed. Because I have worked on a lot of guitars from people that didn’t quite understand this I am going to mention it. TRUSS ROD ADJUSTMENTS ARE NOT for adjusting the action of the guitar. If adjusted properly a truss rod should never break or reach the end of its usefulness (assuming the guitar was not abused or made of cardboard) the truss rod on a guitar should outlive you. If you have a guitar that has no adjustment left on the truss rod it’s likely that at some point somebody tried to adjust the action with it, don’t do this. Action is adjusted at the nut and the bridge taking measurements and making very fine adjustments particularly at the nut because material is easy to remove but not so easy to put back there are tricks to add material but generally speaking if you take too much off then it means cutting a new nut, not really expensive but not something to do yourself unless you really know what you are doing. As for replacing pots verses cleaning that’s up to you but if it’s a vintage guitar it’s best to leave everything in factory condition and if it belonged to someone famous and the electronics are custom I will smack your fingers with a ruler if you try to pull out the pots. I am not a great player but I am a great guitar tech. Ultimately it’s your instrument so learn how to maintain it or just go to a respected shop and pay for set ups and maintenance. New guitars are never set up perfectly I don’t care how much they cost they all need a proper set up and old guitars should be maintained meticulously to make sure they get older. That’s my two cents on things.

Legitimately one of the best StarLicks videos ever published. Herbs had JUST gotten him considering sobriety a couple of years prior, so as sauced and fast-and-loose with coherence as he seems here, it could've been far messier, so, technically this is forty-five minutes of Joe Walsh speed-running blues guitar off of a fifth of Jack Daniels AND managing to explain himself and what he's doing in the process

I am surprised that they recorded this. I thought that was joes regular personality, until I saw some clips of him sober. He still played awesome under the influence, like many of them, he just came off too whacky..

Precious to watch Joe Walsh trolling Gibson and Tom Kolb. They contracted him to make a guitar lesson video and he demonstrated them a whole show of his liking. Great soul!!

Did you know, Joe only got drunk once in his life? He admitted he stayed drunk for 17 years, but it was just the one time. Love his humor almost as much as his playing.

If your not that good…..get into G tuning. 🤣 He shows you don’t have to be a musical genius to make a decent song. This video is underrated. The guy shows you so much REAL life tips that anyone can use. I love Joe cause he is just so real and humble. If you haven’t seen it watch him at Daryl’s place. Awesome.

I skimmed through this and there was literally no substance. I didn't know much about Joe Walsh to begin with besides having heard his name, but if he actually took money from having made this extremely useless video which was supposed to be helpful, I'm gonna say he's an ass.

Indeed, Joe was told by Henley and Frey that he had to get clean in order to be part of the Eagles reunion in 1994. Don Felder has confirmed that in his autobiography and that he personally had to drive Joe to a rehab clinic in Santa Monica.

@@mitchelllevine5664 Joe may have said that, but the real reason was that he was told by Henley and Frey that he had to get totally clean in order to be part of the Eagles reunion in 1994.
