Les Paul with Lou Pallo and Gary Mazzaroppi wish Joe Walsh a Happy Birthday , Joe takes Les's Guitar and plays a blues in A song . Fat Tuesday's 11/19/90
My mom sings some blues and jazz on the weekends with her band and her guitar playing husband. They got to play with Les at his club a few years before his passing.
showed so much respect to Les. Joe is capable of playing so much more than he did. This wasn’t a guitar duel to him but more about respect and honor to the great Les Paul. ✌🏻😎🎸
Well that's just it; being able to shred arpeggios and play a thousand notes per second isn't so much the measure of a "good" guitar player but a lack of confidence. Being "good" is all about sounding good.
What a sweet video. Les Paul acting like a gentlemen. Joe Walsh struggling with his addiction and yet still able to perform. Many veterans like Les Paul would have made a joke at Joe's expense. Les Paul handled the situation gracefully. Many thanks to the people responsible for posting this.
Funny that I found this today. Yesterday ,I just recorded James Gangs' 2 record vinyl record set "16 Greatest Hits" onto a 90 minute Maxell cassette. Yes I still use cassettes and have a collection of 450 cassettes of classic rock artists. My 1993 Toyota Corrolla has a cassette player too. YaDig??? Talk about rockin' down the highway with four speakers. Heaven!!
@@Smoothways correct. JW doesn’t give a crap what he says or what mumbling ramblings he goes off on after he does a decent interview or decent play on the guitar. I watched that video and liked it until he had to ruin it by saying something so freaking dumb and classless especially in front of Les Paul. He couldn’t keep that thought in his head? I’m not a prude either but that wasn’t funny.
People like Les Paul, Chet Atkins, Chuck Berry all the old blues guys & guys like that were more than just great guitar pickers, they were entertainers that HAD to learn how to work a crowd out of necessity in their early days! it's an art form that unfortunately is almost extinct nowadays
Joe is one of the most generous & conciousness people on the planet. Like here, sharing lead with the other guitarist. I saw him in concert in the early mid 70's. He brought out 2 black dudes to sing background on a couple tunes & when finished, they both walked off stage in darkness. Joe quickly signaled to hit them with a light, then gave prop man a thumbs-up. That's stuck with me all these many years.
You are so right. He’s one of the best guitarists from back when he played with the James Gang and then he had a solid solo career. The Eagles took much notice and hired him to replace Bernie Ledon.
Sir Joe Walsh so talented great guitar player..artistic and flexible..you eyes cant close when watching him play. started watching him as back from the 70's his music today still stand the challenge of new artist.
Joe your willingness to Share your God-given talent, then put others in the Limelight right there with you, warms my Heart. Where else can you see that kind of magnanimity?! And the Humor you exude too, priceless! And of course, Les Paul, you are dearly missed Sir.
This is brilliant on many levels and inspiring, Joe Walsh with Les Paul's Les Paul in this environment.....farrrrrrk. Iam gonna pick my Les Paul up right now!
Steve Lukather (guitarist/writer Toto) is the one that tells Les Paul its Joe’s bday then grabs him on the shoulder! Great piece of history right here.
None of them would be anything, none of us would be anything but acoustic guitar players if it wasn’t for Les Paul. It’s amazing to watch one legend pay respects to another legend. And then, they both jam. What a night that must’ve been!
Another beautiful scene...the talented, kind, Les Paul inviting the talented Joe Walsh to play on Les'' guitar. Man, that is a nice man. Joe played beautifully and sang the blues..soulfully. A great unplanned gig!! Thank you for uploading.
As well he should. Joe Walsh was a clown compared to Les Paul. Who thinks of innovative and amazing guitarists and thinks of Joe Walsh? He's lucky to be alive.
Les Paul, such a talented guy in so many areas. Funny as any comedian I've ever heard work a crowd too! We miss you Les! As far as Joe Walsh goes, he's Joe Walsh!
Joe and Les had a common bond outside of music, both of them had a great sense of humor and could inject it straight into a song at a moment's notice. Take care!
In 1973 Les Paul came to Dayton Band, a music store in Ohio where I took lessons for many years. He played foralmost two hours, told stories, told jokes answer the questions and was absolutely fantastic. He was by himself and he had all his looping and his tape machines and really old school stuff many wish he had made in his garage.
Meeting a legend like Les Paul, being handed his guitar was livin' a dream for Joe Walsh. 😎 When Joe first strums, the distinct sound of Paul's guitar cannot be ignored. Beautifull!😎
Personal Manager by Albert King. The original is smokin' hot. Brilliant selection by Joe on the spur of the moment. He may have been under the weather, but his guitar playing didn't show it. Hat's off.
I've seen the Eagles twice and Joe Walsh 3 times....my life would be a lot less if it were not for these events in Rock n Roll History. While I was never lucky enough to see Les Paul in person I've heard hundreds who play his guitars and got their inspiration from him. A true American Treasure.
Saw Les Paul once,in Manhattan downstairs in the village, fantastic show, and Mr.Paul is was such a nice Human Being, respected everybody, allowed myself and My Girl,to sit and talk with Him after the show for about a half hour, what a wonderful person, miss Him,RIP,Mr.Paul.

Nobody appreciated the art & artists as much as Les Paul. Enjoyed playing and sharing with everyone. Fabulous clip! A Big THANKS for posting this wonderful video!
I saw Joe with the Eagles live Cominskey Park Chicago, 1978. The entire concert was the Eagles headlined, Steve Miller, Pablo Cruise, Walter Egan. My #1 concert ever. I was 16!!!
