This video outlines the comic book origins, powers, and history of Annie January AKA Starlight from Amazon's The Boys.
Starlight joins the superhero team The Seven after the previous team member Lamplighter "retires." After that her experinece in the team is pretty horrible. Through chance she meets member of The Boys Hughie, and the two fall in love. Despite the fact that the two have a rocky relationship they end up being the only two members of the two core teams that survive the end conflicts.
Annie ends up being one of the stronger characters in the comics because she is the only one brave enough to not fall into the same trappings that the rest of the heroes do. Its also good to see that she has a happy ending, considering all of the horrible things that happen to her in the comics.

They look like that because of the visual impact. not only had to be dirty, nasty or ugly world on the writting but in the art style. If you take a look on other comics created by the same guys you will notice that. Plus, Simon Pegg was a referent to create Hughie

Idk guys..... I can’t lie, that bat shit crazy that butcher has going on in the comics is awesome. like maybe he has just one or two screws missing, but they are vitally important screws to make up a stand up citizen. It’s fun to see how far writers can push characters with this mentality of “you killed who I love, now you all have to die”. The punisher can be really exciting in this regard too.

Annie is the wholesome all American girl who has gone into the big bad world and gets abused for it. Her story is a pretty horrific example of the sexual abuse seen as described by the 'me too' movement.

1:21 Annie flies three times (that I remember) in the comic. The first is shown at the timestamp, the second when she tells Huey about her being a Supe, and the third when she runs from Homelander while Maeve holds him off.

What I don’t like about Brightburn is that we don’t learn why the ship he crash landed in made him go evil. My guess is that his people sent him to Earth make it vacant, so that no humans can stop the aliens from taking it over.

I think you guys should go over Hughie! He’s portrayed in the show as a really wimpy guy at first but gets a good amount of development during the eight episodes we got. I want to know how the comic book matches up to the show and what’s same/what’s different. Keep up the good work, guys!

Well if you're curious, he doesn't become a badass or anything. He doesn't really get desensitised to violence but does become more accepting of it. As time goes on he doesn't really change too much (though there are a few instances of him acting like Butcher), mostly he just becomes less and less surprised at how truly fucked up the superhero world is.

ThatOneAsianBroChick yes, the creation of Hughie is inspired by Simon. Also, if what I remembered is correct, the prologue of the comic is written by Simon Pegg. He does not play the role in the tv simply because he’s too old for the character.

She is clearly not innocent. She was not assaulted in joining the team- she agreed to do something she found disgusting. Not for any other reason than being a famous celebrity. And she did it knowing what hypocrites these people were.

Having watched the show, multiple times now, I will say what I'm most excited for next season. This show has started firm morally different characters that are going to lead in different directions but have placed them together as a team. I am highly anticipating what the characters are going to do when their morals cross or when something doesn't go there way (mainly anyone vs Billy Butcher). The show has set up these great defined characters and can't wait to see more. I want to start reading The Boys as adapting this kind of source material to TV or film is highly intriguing as it is something that are closely similar but tell stories so differently that it would be interesting to see the differences.

I like The Deep. He's sort of tragic, and flawed, and I feel like he could do some cool stuff. But my favorite one of "The Boys" has to be Frenchie. He's just complex, and I am interested in where his character is going.
