Next year they should add Samus and her Ship. I believe Ubisoft already said they plan to support this in the long run. Payday can’t come soon enough for me!!!!!
Captain Falcon. For the first time ever, he might actually use his gun in a game, lol. It's a stretch but man, I'd buy the game flat out with that sort of inclusion.
I hope they add more planet DLC though then or new stuff in-game, otherwise by the time the new toys comes out I will be bored to death with it already.
I’ve been playing the game for about 15 hours, and I really love it. I bought it, Black Ops 4 and AC Odyssey all within a few days, and I really only get the urge to play Starlink. I wish it focused a little less on ground based combat and more in combat in space, but the game is still amazing. The comparisons to No Man’s Sky sound ridiculous until you actually play it. It has very similar visuals and a similar feel (though it seems odd that every reviewer compares it to that and Mass Effect, as if they are just reading off the publisher’s review kit documentation). The graphics are insanely good on Switch, and I was never disappointed in the performance and frame rate, and that is coming from someone who is mainly PC Master Race.
I cant believe I just pre-ordered an Ubisoft product. I WANTED THE ARWING DONT JUDGE ME Edit: Picked it up today, spent 2 hours playing with the toys, haven't even played the game yet. I'm a fully grown adult Edit 2: This game is fucking amazing, I've wanted this since Star Fox 64 0_0
Ayyyy. Star Fox SNES was the first game I ever played, I was 4 years old. I've always considered it a tragedy what happened to Star Fox. I can't wait until tomorrow, man.. I really hope this gives Nintendo a kick in the pants to give us a truly innovative but also retro-respecting Star Fox game. Give us a Star Fox that does to Star Fox what Odyssey did to Mario. I'll buy 10 copies of it and praise it to hell and back.
I think a mix of Starlink mechanics and Starfox Zero could make an amazing StarFox game....having the open world/universe mechanic....going in and out of planets seamlessly, full planets to explore at will, include the transforming aspect of Starfox Zero's ships, bring back the Blue Marine for Water based planets....have linear-old school starfox segments in planets and in space... (corridor missions sort of)....worm holes to travel large distances.... random encounters with Star Wolf in space...... on foot missions too.... ...come on Nintendo, make it happen... we need a truly AMAZING starfox game...Starfox 64 is probably the best one (imo)...it's been far too long
Aileron roll, not barrel roll. Nintendo got it wrong way back and never corrected it. aviation.stackexchange.com/questions/26173/what-is-the-difference-between-a-barrel-roll-and-an-aileron-roll
Yeolde GamerSteve Can you stop repeating that? Yeah we know it's not an actual barrel roll that was proven years ago. But it's still an iconic line for the series regardless and we'd prefer no one ruins any jokes.
So you're telling me what I can and cannot say online now? Sure you can do that, but if you want me to do your bidding you need to pay my monthly ISP costs. I don't see why I should continue paying if I'm being censored. I accept paypal and look forward to your first payment soon.
I've been playing this game with my son and we both love it. No it's not very difficult but it's great to play with my son and we want to get the different guns and ships. It's really fun and I think this review really does it justice. It's great fun
I bought mine for $14+ tax CAD from Best Buy. I’m really surprised how good this game is. It’s pretty open world, and even into space. I’ve also just found out you can rid the ships for seven days and play with only the controller. Even on normal it’s surprisingly challenging.
Ya I can't imagine the sales for the PS4 or Xbox One being any good because starfox..... Maybe nintendo will realise how huge the Starfox franchise is and let ubisoft make a full on Starfox game this time.
ALL of the content is already in the starter pack and you get an awesome Fox figure and Arwing model. The deluxe version only gives you more ships, pilots and extra weapons. And WHY the hell would you want to play this game with ANYONE but Fox and his Arwing? As far as I'm concerned, THIS. IS. STAR FOX.
You do get the starfox content including Fox McCloud and the Arwing in the Digital Copy too. You just don't get the physical toys. Edit: Also as mentioned in the review, more ships means more lives.
Dragoner Productions looks much more promising that StarFox Zero. Bad dual screen controls, boring Gyrowing missions and another retelling of the story. I swear it felt like miyamoto didn’t try...
You cannot complete some of the bonus challenge towers with just the physical edition weapons... Its bullshit. Youll be missing elements needed to beat them
It's really sad how this game was forgotten. It really is a good game, better than skyalnders or infinity in my opinion. Imagine what awesome dlc could have came if it was more popular!
I kinda want to get this game and I plan on getting the pack with the arwing but I wanna ask just to make sure: the digital edition DOES let me use the toy right? And does the starter pack come with that thingy to us them? (Again I don't want to pay fort stuff then find out it doesn't work and stuff so I just wanna be 100% sure
It’s surprising to me how much higher this ranks for you all as compared to André from gamexplain. Hopefully you join them for a future discussion on this Alex.
I've found the starter pack locally for €7 and plenty of stock. Tempted to pick it up next time I go shopping. I prefer physical cartridges over digital if I can help it. I don't care for the toy aspect so am glad it isn't a necessity.
I just completed the game! For me Starlink Battle of Atlas is the best game for the Nintendo Switch! I loved Starfox and his team and it is very clever that Ubisoft connected Starfox to the main story of Atlas as well. The gameplay is smooth and the worlds are magnificent. I just hope they create another Starlink or Starfox game like this one! 😊☺
as someone who 100% starfox adventure, assault, and 64, I've been looking up any starfox game i could play on the switch since i didnt have a wii u and only learned a week ago starfox 2 and the starlink dlc for starfox's crew was out. Im so goddamn happy rn these games were my childhood
This suits the portability of the Switch. Story heavy games work better as a home console experience for long sessions, but the short bursts of space dog fights suits the Switch so well.
Pleasantly surprising review! Didn’t care much for getting the game and the Star Fox content seemed like it WOULD be pretty tacked on DLC-type stuff, but I’m impressed they took care to integrate it into the story like you say. Might reconsider buying!
This game looks so beautiful! I cannot wait to play this game! I was hesitant about purchasing it at first because toys to games are not my thing. However, this one seems so refined! I love that you can interchange parts in real time and the worlds seem massive and filled with things to explore. Can’t wait until tomorrow!
Right noe, they got the game finished and the main aspects of it. Later on, for sure, they'll add the rest of the Starfox team. I'm buying them all physical if they do!
So I got this today for the launch of the game and I must say this game is insane!! I'm so damn happy as Star Fox fan I wouldn't be happier to have this until the next entry in the franchise!
I'm so happy right now. Been watching reviews of this game all week, trying to decide if I wanted to pay the MSRP for it, since I've been unable to catch it on sale. I decided to wait for Black Friday, and got the Deluxe digital edition this morning for $15. I can't wait to get into this bad boy.
Well I didn't see that one coming, I also thought it was gonna be some cheaply made, not very interesting game like Skylanders, something with just a very surface level appeal to some kids with the toys and all. But now I'm honestly having a hard time keeping myself from buying it, I've been wanting to play something like this for a while and I think this is it. Also if the co op implementation is good I'll get my hands on this for sure. :3
If I get the physical starter pack, what weapon pack should I get? Which weapon type is the most important type to have in the game that doesn't come in the base pack?
I'm just curious if you really need more than just the starfox ship. Are any missions unavailable if you don't have all ships/pilots other than the exclusive starfox mission? and if anyone can answer this for me, please also like my comment so I get a notification on my phone. Thanks!
@@andrewtong7068 go to the eshop and select the starlink game. Scroll down and hit the read more button. Once you do this it will pull up a bunch of other Information that wasnt there before. The 60$ digital version of the game comes with 5 ships, 7 pilots, and 12 weapons. The 80$ version of the game comes with 6 starships, 10 pilots, and 15 weapons. I hope that helps. If you have any other questions just reply and I will try to answer back.
To answer my own question, it looks like the answer is no. Very nice breakdown here: www.nintendolife.com/news/2018/10/guide_starlink_buyers_guide_-_what_you_get_in_the_physical_and_digital_editions
Hey Alex I have a question, does the digital version allow you to change vehicle parts or flip weapons around? I don't know if you said it already in the video haha 😌
I got super lucky. I bought the digital version that was $59.99 for 75% off. It was almost like nintendo knew I wanted the game and knew I wouldn't get it unless there was a deal because it was the original price when I first set eyes on it, but when I refreshed the page, it magically went on sale for 75% off lol. Lucky me. :P
I love open world exploration games especially on the Nintendo switch Zelda BoTW Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Skyrim StarLink Ys viii This are my favorite open world on switch, please let me know if I missed any good open world game on switch
It definitely looks like No Man's Sky and has that art style, kind of, but this game's arcadey gameplay makes it much more accessible. It's the perfect fit for switch.
Leaving the cockpit = No Man's Sky Mini. Also, in that last bit (at the end of the video where NL talks about his own views), I really like going into the huge ship. It reminds me of finding hidden underground areas in Horizon Zero Dawn. Very cool!
Nice. Definetely buy, question is, now or later, toy or digital?? One question though. You said the digital deluxe comes with all the weapons, if you buy the standard edition can you unlock all those weapons in the game or are they deluxe exclusive?
Update from the future. If you want to buy this for switch but don't want to pay a scalper for the toys and don't want to give Ubisoft more money than required and you have an android with NFC capability, you can download some fee apps that can program blank NFC's with the toy id's. There are a decent amount of videos to tell you how to do that and the NFC's are like $5 for 150 or so. I use it for Breath of the Wild and it works perfectly.
I feel like you'd be missing out on quite a bit of content and the appeal of the game if you didn't get the Switch version. Fox is the reason this game is catching my attention.
Jacob chamberlain you can make insane ships digitally as well, the game gives you the options to use left wings on the right side (or vice versa) flip them so they're facing the wrong way, slap more wings on your wings (i don't know the limit on it since i only have the two ships from the starter pack) and even flip your guns backwards if you feel so inclined
So let me try and understand the differences between the versions, and correct me if I'm wrong, please; the physical starter version has everything locked behind the toys, the Digital version has everything, including Star Fox, locked via a natural progression system with nothing missing, and Digital Deluxe is everything at once with no exclusive content to it?
TheSMBZfan1 no physical toys unlock that part and give you a timed (7 days) digital copy. Any digital pack is unlocked right away and you can use everything in that pack. Ingame you find mods to enhance your ships and weapons
Marchel van Leeuwen - I'll be honest, you worded it in a way I don't understand, so let me see if I understand by asking these; You're saying that the physical copies allow you to play the Digital version for 7 days and then you have to play with the toys? And you're also saying that the Digital copies have everything accessible? If I misinterpreted you at all, feel free to correct me.
TheSMBZfan1 the physical toys give you a digital copy that you can use for 7 days before you need to attach them again to renew the digital copy. Any digital item you buy is forever unlocked after purchase.
Physical ships unlock digital copies for a short period (1 week) after using them, allowing you to play digitally with your toys. The Physical starter pack (talking for the switch) comes with 2 pilots (Physical Fox and Mason), 2 ships (Physical Arwing and Digital only Zenith), and 4 weapons (Physical Flamethrower and Frost Barrage, Digital only Shredder, and the arwing lasers built into the arwing wings). That's 2,2, and 4 The Digital Starter pack includes 7 Pilots from the main crew (Above + Judge, Chase, Hunter, Razor, and Levi), 5 Ships from the main crew (Above + Neptine, Pulse, and Lance), and 13 Weapons (Above + Levitator, Volcano, Imploder, Iron Fist, Alt. Freeze Ray, Crusher, Super Gatling, Shockwave, and Alt. Gauss). That's 7, 5, and 13. The Digital Deluxe pack includes all 10 Pilots (Above + Eli, Kharl, and Shaid), all 6 ships (above + Nadir), and all 16 weapons (Above + Nullifier, Hailstorm, and Alt. Meteor). That's 10, 6, and 16. None of the packs include the 2 Retailer Exclusive ships, Scramble (Levi) and Cerberus (Razor). These are only recoloured versions of parts from other ships with Identical stats. None of them include the Fury Canon from the Scramble Vehicle pack which is expected to just be a slightly different cosmetic on an existing weapon, but it's unknown for sure. If it is a unique weapon it's expected to be a part of toy wave 2. And finally none of them come with the pilot Startail who was a preorder bonus in the UK and Australia. He's totally unique in design and has a unique ability. He's expected to be released as part of toy wave 2. There is going to be a paid digital upgrade for the wave 2 toys if you play digitally.
So, what you're saying is: Buying the more expensive physical version is actually inferior to playing the digital deluxe version, if you don't (plan to) buy the whole toy line with it? But honestly, did i understand it correctly, that playing the physical version locks you out of content you *could* play digitally because you don't own the toys? As much as i'd love to have a snazzy Arwing model ship, this pricing model is just silly..
Best information in this video: I can get everything without buying all the physical toys. It looks like a pretty cool game but unfortunately it has to wait, because Diablo 3 will be my next big Switch game
I've been playing Starfox.. aka Starwing in my part of the world for 25 years. Had been holding off on this title, but a client finally paid me, the game is on sale and it's downloading right now.
Worth it just for the Arwing in my opinion. It's very well built and looks really nice. I'll probably sell the game after completing it and keep the Arwing for display.
GANTZ100pts no, bascially how it works is if you use a physical ship, you can only use the items you have physically, but you can just swap back over to digital by using the regular controller and will still be able to use the ships you own physically in the digital version
My dilemma I don't have the internet to download sizable games like this but if I buy physical then impulse will get the better of me and I'll be spending god-knows what just for collection's sake
Yeah it's around £60 if you create an account for use with the Mexican eShop (~£45 for the standard edition). www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/comments/9my7mf/psa_if_you_were_thinking_of_buying_digitally/
kaiserpeter0 no, i own the physical game and have played split screen with a friend of mine, and you can still use the ships you buy digitally, it's just that if you use the physical ships you won't be able to access the digital ones, which is easy enough to get around by just not using the physical ones, as you can use them digitally as well
If you mean a standalone physical version, no. The physical version co.comes in the starter packs, you'll have to go digital if you want to bypass the Toys to life element.
Digital deluxe edition i got for 24 bucks this seemed like the best deal i never really got into the game but i mean for 24 BUCKS that is a steal. I normally don't buy deluxe editions but considering all of the content you get with your money for like an 8 dollar price difference i find it a steal.
I just got it for that price too today from Black Friday deals. I thought it was a steal considering it said that total if purchased individually was $102.87. That’s almost $80 off!
Anyone remember Bowser and Donkey Kong being in Skylanders as playable characters? I believe it's the first time Mario and Crash Bandicoot Characters ever met
Nah you can have one player playing physically while one plays digitally, both playing digitally, or if you get a second controller mount (Co Op kit) you can both play physically.
@@sniperfox47 That's nice, that was my only concern with the game at this point since I don't want any of the toys. If that's the case I'm surely gonna pick it up. Thanks for the answer. :3
Yes, the toys unlock the digital version of themselves temporarily (I think a week?), and digital purchases unlock forever (you can, apparently, mix and match what you buy phisically and digitally)
This game makes me so hyped. I never really played a game with Fox besides smash bros. I’m hoping this goes down in price soon because $150AUD for the digital deluxe version is hella expensive.
