Thanks for this Tab Talk Jenn! Lots of good information. I got my STARLINK on Saturday and set it up on Sunday. It was just as easy as you said it would be. My only issue was since I have Vertigo I had to have someone else take the "picture" of the sky for obstructions. (Aren’t Campers the best? 😊) I have it set up on the picnic table to keep it from getting in several inches of water when it rains. (Still hurricane season here in Florida!) Like you, I put the cord through the kitchen window. (I don’t want to drill any holes in my Camper even though there are kits made to do that.) I plan on getting a strong holder/clip to put on my ‘23 400 BD underneath the kitchen window area to hold the excess cord off of the ground to alleviate the tripping hazard and hopefully away from ordinary critters. It is also nice to be able to have service where there is no cell service. I am hearing impaired and have a special program (CaptionCall) on my iPad that uses internet to make calls when needed. Looking forward to your next video. 😊

Excellent review of Starlink, Jenn. I think you covered all of the bases quite well! And I loved the plug for Verna:)

While I managed to get in eight or nine camping trips this last season I'm still teleworking from home during the week and haven't considered how to tell a work from my t@b. Maybe I'll try that this next season which would give me a reason for consistent internet. I feel well prepared after listening to your video, thank you!

I have a 2023 T@B 320 Boondock. I have a StarLink. I ran my cable up into the water utility compartment through a cable access hole I enlarged a bit to fit the StarLink cable through. It’s just a few feet from there I can run the cable under the bench and up through the corner to the left of the TV to my router. I opted no microwave so I use the existing AC outlet to plug my router in. I place the router in that same corner of course on a small wooden triangular shelf I installed. I wrap the remaining 70 feet of cable and store it in the water utility box. I use a “computer monitor soft cover” to store the dish in. I store that face down in the driver side storage under the bed. And at $150 a month, I use my T-mobile box in its place and mostly keep the StarLink for emergency use.

Cool! Thanks for sharing. I am looking into options for a more permanent setup now that I have decided to keep it.

We just got our first Starlink, V3, which appears to be slightly different than yours. No legs or motor to position itself. Just a kickstand that makes it even lower to the ground and vulnerable to lawn mowers. We were blown away by how well it performed under 78 percent blockage Lake Hope State Park tree canopies for surfing and streaming. It did struggle with zoom calls as you say. But for all other tasks it was perfectly usable. I’m wondering if there isn’t a way to mount it to our trailer using suction or magnets while we’re at camp. Get it off the ground and elevate it. Hopefully you’re right and more and more accessories start coming out for it!

Lake Hope is a tough one for connectivity. I am going to try Hocking Hills soon.

Very nice presentation, you covered just about everything. One thought, if you saved the StarLink box, it's a great way to transport the stuff, and I suspect it might be a bit smaller than other solutions. Oh, one other thing, StarLink ships a cover for the antenna when you get the roof mount kit. The concern is that they don't want the face of the dish sitting on the roof. You might want to put a thin layer of foam on the bottom of your storage container as a precaution.

There are adapters and custom cables on Etsy that work great. I installed one through adapter in place of the AUX connector and can plug in my custom Starlink cable to it. I have a short length inside that connects to my Starlink router, mounted in the electrical compartment on the driver side in an Etsy mount. I have an inverter and two lithium batteries in the trailer to power all this. All is secure and works great.

The main system components consist of: - Two 100AHr Battle Born Lithium batteries (existing) - Two Victron solar controllers (existing) - OEM electrical system (existing) - BMV-712 Battery Monitor (existing) - Victron Multiplus 2000 ◦ BT module to control Multiplus - Main cutoff switch - Aux fuse box (connection of accessories and solar controllers) - 120A Breaker for DC-DC charging from tow vehicle - Wire and connection system to connect tow vehicle house electrical system to trailer electrical system - Control switches for Starlink and Wilson booster Two additional switches turn the Wilson and Starlink systems on or off. The Starlink swich turns a new 110V electrical outlet (located behind the OEM electrical center, under the bench) on or off, allowing an additional switched accessory to be installed if desired. A legacy switch hole remains that can be used in future if needed.

Actually, our setups are not all that different. I am running with 2 lithium batteries, an inverter with a remote power switch, 2 Victron controllers, and the Victron battery monitor for my 320.

How can I send photos? I just looked at the 2024 specs and I pretty much have everything except the heated tanks that are part of the Black Rock model. NuCamp indicates that tank heating could be added so I'm interested in what that does for trailer use in colder weather. Is there a way to send pictures of my modifications to you?

Thanks Jenn for this intel! Have you also tried to use your roam setup at home for internet? Do you have any youtube videos you would suggest that show physical setup and perhaps flag pole installation?😁
@JennGroverPhotography

I have not tried at home because of the obstructions I would encounter. It would be a less than optimal experience. Starlink provides setup videos and a visual guide that is pretty easy to follow.

Thanks for the video. I'm surprised you didn't encounter smoke. I was in the Badlands in September, and it was extremely smokey! Are you plugging the one solar panel into the port on the battery? It looks like the other two go directly into the electric. I'd like to know more about that. I know you have lithium batteries which I don't have. I do have a 500 solar battery which can actually charge the tab when I'm low on power. Works for keeping the heat on for sure.

Thee was smoke a few days, but I spent 2 weeks, so had many days of clear skies. I explain what I did in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1gx_2rtpUmQ.html but you will want a quick connect and solar controller in your setup.

Hello, thanks. I have made the purchase. I would like to delay service until I am ready to use (in warmer weather.) On purchase it looks like you are automatically charged for a month. I see that you can eventually pause it but is there some way to pause at purchase so you don't pay needlessly? I think I saw it on some post some where or the other. I have not downloaded the app as yet as I got the impression that you should not download until you are ready to connect. Thanks.
@JennGroverPhotography

Yes,.service is paused through the app, and I would wait until you are ready to activate to download the app. My service is currently paused, and I am getting ready to reactivate it very soon.

Musk has turned datacaps on and off and has talked several times about turning them back on once the service gets popular. That one single comment by itself is enough to make me tell everyone to avoid starlink like the plague. It's not going to be any different then any other ISP available and Musk is still a huge pile of crap that's just getting worse by the day.

I think there have to be limits to keep bots and other bad actors from killing soeeds. If it changes, I can easily cancel. You are not locked into a contract. But if your beef is primarily.woth Musk, that is all personal preference. I don't really have an opinion on him.
