It is on TV as I type this. One of the best SF movies ever! Same for the music. Last scene still brings a tear to my eye. And I am a 64 yr old hard case guy!
+Robert Wilsdon Quick question--I went to IMDB and it said that the music was done by a different person. Without checking as yet I will assume that you wrote the "Hymn of the World"? and not the music for the movie? This is a wonderful piece.
+Frank Fraser Hi Frank, no I had nothing to do with the movie or the soundtrack. I have always loved the movie and soundtrack, especially the main theme. I always wanted to record my own 'version' of it but still remain loyal to the original feel to the music. I hope you like it.
@@frankfraser4583 Hi Frank, the music was written by John Carpenter (yes, THAT John Carpenter!) My recreation of it came after watching and just loving the movie and the soundtrack for many years. I hope you liked my version. Hymn of the World? No, not me i'm afraid. You can search any of the streaming services for music by Zero One Zero to hear more of my own music, all written produced recorded and mixed by me. Yes, it is stunning; @Robert Wilsdon you've done a magnificant variation and improved upon the original. While a bit different (not synthesiser based) I would suggest that Ennio Morricone's Theme for 'Once Upon A Time In The West' is similar in dynamics / calibre - both are hauntingly beautiful, loaded with emotion, with sweeping grand crescendos and hesitances. Ennio Morricone's piece also has sections that are almost syncopation. Truly glorious. Also worth a mention is Francis Lai, Love theme from “Bilitis”.
That movie is the top three greatest movies I ever saw in 52 years of living on this planet. I watched it many of times over the years. I got teary-eyed every time when I see the part where he brought the deer back to life on the hood of the car. If that doesn’t touch you, then you’re not human.
why can't they make movies like this anymore:( really wonderful movie with simply beautiful music Robert Wilsdon mix:)lovely vid, i'm in flood of tears every time i watch it,thanks for sharing
They’re running out of ideas for movies. Keep remaking them. I was 19 years old when I first saw this movie. Such a good, simple concept - science fiction based on science fact. I just rediscovered this movie on Netflix - just great!
Presuming he who wrote the music had at least already read the script but none the less what an incredibly fitting creation for the movie. Just amazing !
one of my all time favourite films never tire of watching it jeff bridges and karen allen superb, and directed by one of the greats in my opinion john carpenter, and what music, overall superb.
Normally when I see a remix of a song which I hold as one of the best bits of music made, I fear the worst, but this is not the case, you have done yourself proud Sir. Amazing work.
WOW @ Robert Wilsdon this was sublime and nothing short of moving and therefore true to it's original piece and an incredible masterpiece and how talented you are and your version of this exquisitely beautiful. Thankyou. I loved it so much it had goosebumps in places I'd never had before- just wow and well done aswell as huge Congratulations on such a wonderful job👏👏👏🥰👌
There is something about this song that is noble. There is something about it that by listening to it makes me want to be a better person than I am. We ALL are children of Heavenly Parents. NEVER sell yourself short. Believe in the good that is in your heart, in the good that you had before you were born into this existence.
THIS MOVIE MAGNIFIES THE EXCITEMENT OF THE UNKNOWN / UNEXPLAINED IN MANY OF US.....THE SOUNDTRACK ALWAYS GIVES ME CHILLS & INSPIRES ME TO DREAM EVEN MORE....BOB S. FOX, PALM SPRINGS, CA,.
I like theme music better than actual popular music. I’m a strange person like that. This is best thing I’ve ever heard. I’m currently spending time learning it on a toy Yamaha keyboard so that when I get my beast of an 80s Roland keyboard back from my mums I can play this with all the synth cords in the alphabet. This mix gives me tingles mate. Absolutely sensational 👍
@frankfraser4583, I have always felt the same way. But when I first saw "starman" back in 1984 the music just got me, and what was going. I loved the fact that she was willing to go with him. Even though she would die. It brought tears to my eyes and I didn't want anyone to see.
I cannot distinguish your rendition from that of the movie. I also didn't know that was what the movie used. You demonstrate that it can certainly pull the weight of an orchestra; amazing :-)
Nice big sound, dramatic and moving. Reminds me of a Fagin's Boys instrumental called Furtwangler, which was a little-known synth instrumental which came out a few years after Starman.
were you alive when this came out? Not a smart Alec question just wondering. If not a part of your childhood landscape then an even more wonderful interpretation! Grew up with this movie, watched it at the drive-in,something unheard of in most places these days. Sounds great! It seems like we worked these chords out when I was in my freshman year in band! We had that wonderful fanfare from2001 space odyssy and we worked this up and also the chord progression from close encounters of a third kind
+Robert Wilsdon thanks for the response that is pretty nice of you. What would you think of a full Frenchhorn section(5to8 horns) and just a butt load of oboes and bassoons? Wouldn't that sound awesome? Maybe a cello section if you have to have strings?
Its very good but around 0.50 and 1.03 there are notes missing. Study that section again from the original and you will see what I mean. But well done.
