When they won the Barbershop Harmony Society's quartet championship in 1990, in the second round of competition, they appeared on stage with these costumes. The ballad they sang during that set, "So Long, Mother," was well-known in the barbershop world, and had been performed previously by quartets in army uniforms - so when they sang it in navy uniforms, and with slightly altered lyrics, it impressed the barbershop audience a great deal. I was there, and it was a notable and classy way to present themselves.

So you aren't into barbershop style then?
