These guys were/are great! I saw them in Texas several years ago. When I told them my wife and I flew in from California just for their concert, they were floored. They insisted we come to the after party (we hadn't bought tickets to that). They treated us like long lost friends. They dedicated a song to us. They even let me sing a bar chord with them. A very fond 10 or 20 second memory! Fantastic singers AND human beings!!
I was there! Absolutely electric! They were champs’ champs on that stage. Every song in their set got a standing ovation, and for good reason! As much as I loved 139th Street Quartet, and as exciting as their prospects were with John Sherbutn on lead, Acoustix absolutely deserved the gold in 1990. An unforgettably awesome sound!
I have an honest question for enlisted folks on deployment: How would you feel about sending guys like this to your FOB as a morale thing? At least, as part of a larger USO program? Like, if you want Ms. Swift we might not be able to swing that, so how about dope acapella? If no one cares then we can skip it. Personally, I like "Stars and Stripes Forever," and it would be cool to see guys like do their thing in an intimate setting, in contrast to a big stadium performance. Also, I prefer "let despots remember the day."
this is why overly patriotic songs are banned in competition after hearing these guys sing patriotically, everything else patriotic just felt ruined to the judges xD
