Done about a dozen or more full runs of this game, never actually fought Doritos before... or even encountered this bounty mission, for that matter. Largely vanilla run, only mod is "A New Level of Confidence (20)", because I don't like being forced into only taking logistical/support perks in order to not feel gimped.
This fight went pretty well actually, considering I'm smooth brain for taking the extra officers perk, but only using 8/10 of them. This was actually the second attempt at this: first attempt the Dorito spawned immediately and just started merc-ing my overextended ships.
Basically, the strategy I've found works best (for this fight, and in general), is to throw a bunch of meaty ships in the frontline like Dominators and Onslaught, while backed up by high-damage ships like Eradicators and Auroras. Use the Paragon as your flagship to maximize damage. If the fights become a standoff, you automatically win because the Paragon outranges everything and whittles the enemy down. If they rush you, the meaty ships shine and you deal with targets of opportunity. This can either be letting your autotarget weapons deal with the smaller ships, or focusing your firepower to take out cruisers/capitals.
Can go into more specific ship builds if there's enough interest.
