Starship had a string of three straight Billboard #1 songs…We Built This City, Sara, and this one. A pretty nice little run they had in the mid 80s (they were Jefferson Starship before that, which evolved from Jefferson Airplane)

We Built This City- Starship. Gents it was a huge hit that went to #1 on the billboard charts for multiple weeks, yet America was divided they either loved the song or hated it. Love to see you react to it in the future. It’s the only song I can remember that incorporates a newscaster’s commentary. Great reaction and this is a classic and I love both the song and movie👍🏻.

Yeah, you NEED to listen to their song, Jane. I firmly believe it's even better and it blows this one away !!! It really shows off Mickey Thomas' voice (the male singer in this one) and has a killer driving melody and guitar solos.

Gladys Slick was so great. I was a bit underage for "White Rabbit" and "Somebody to Love" from the 1960's in their days as Jefferson Airplane, but thanks to RU-vid you can hear and see them in their full psychadelic glory. I highly recommend both.

Yes... Before Starship was Jefferson Airplane and Jefferson Starship. Grace Slick key to the 60s 70s and then not for a while and back in the 80s again. White Rabbit was psychadlelic for sure for sure for the video used as official .....

I loved them when they were Jefferson Airplane too! White Rabbit, and Somebody to Love were my favourites back then, and may be worth a reaction from your team. I think it's best listened to on record. They're short by today's notions of how long songs should be, but they did come out in the 70's , (maybe late 60's), so 3 minutes was the normal length of time for a song.

I dig you fellas and gave this a Like, but I can't watch it. I don't like this song, never have. Cheers. PS ~ You guys said you wanted to go down the *Electric Light Orchestra (ELO)* rabbit hole, but it's been 6 weeks since you reacted to, *"Livin' Thing",* and you've not returned to the band. So here's another song from that same awesome concert at Wembley in London from 2017. It's a nighttime, so it'll give you a different look - Jeff Lynne is known for his great light/laser shows! The song, which in 1976 hit #7 in the US, #8 in the UK, and #1 in Canada, is called, *"Telephone Line".* You fellas will love it! Here it is: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XKElk9zTB04.html

Just have them listen to the actual studio recording. That's what they'd be hearing on the radio or the record. If they want to explore other versions after that at least they'll have something to compare it to. At the very least provide them with a vintage live performance so they can see who the actual band was and not just Jeff with some hired musicians.
@Cosmo-Kramer
@Cosmo-Kramer 6 месяцев назад
@@bossfan49 I agree with you that reactors (or any 1st time listeners) should experience the original studio versions first. But I've tried suggesting that to them before, and its fallen on deaf ears. The only time they replied and reacted to one of my suggestions was when I gave them the "Livin' Thing" at Wembley 2017 link. Plus, I looked in their reaction archives and it seems like they ONLY do reactions to songs that are of music videos or filmed live performances. I didn't see any reactions where they just listen to the song and stare at a picture of the band or album cover. That's not their style. As for using a vintage live or dubbed promo video, yes, I thought of that. But they loved the scene at the modern Wembley show, and I figured to try to hook them even further on ELO music, I'd have them watch the visually and sonically spectacular performance of, "Telephone Line", from the same show. No, it's not as good as the studio cut, but it's got great eye candy with the lights and crowd and Langley sisters. My plan for the next suggestion, you'll be happy to hear (and I almost did it this time), is the dubbed promo video performance of, *"Rockaria".* Can you dig what I'm sayin'?
@bossfan49
@bossfan49 6 месяцев назад
@@Cosmo-Kramer There is a music video for the original version of Telephone Line, and there is a vintage live performance on The Midnight Special.
@Cosmo-Kramer
@Cosmo-Kramer 6 месяцев назад
@@bossfan49 Yes, I'm aware of that, I am the world's pre-eminent expert on ELO. You must've missed the part where I said I chose to go with the Wembley '17 performance of the song because of how visually spectacular it is (in addition to sounding great - albeit not as great as the studio cut), as a means to reel them in more to the band's music, especially given how much they loved the, "Livin' Thing", performance there.
@bossfan49
@bossfan49 6 месяцев назад
@@Cosmo-Kramer They're already seen a Live at Wembley performance. WHy not give them a different experience? An authentic experience. Also.. "it's been six weeks and you haven't returned to the band". So what? There's a billion artists to explore. Six weeks is a drop in the bucket. That they actually reacted to one of your requests at all is pure luck. They get 20-50 new requests per video, plus whatever they get on their podcasts and Instagram.

This my friends is a perfect case of selling out. Is it wrong? Not for their bankbooks but if you can't tell they went the road of groups like the B-52s then you need to scroll up in the proverbial chat. If they'd started and stayed with this hot garbage then it's a different conversation but when you go from "White Rabbit", "Someone to Love", "Jane" and "Miracles" to this mess? Fuggedaboudit It happens in most things, I guess but it's a shame and no different to movie studios eliminating source material that worked for decades and give us what we got now

They went through 2 phases as Jefferson Starship... the soft-rock phase in the mid 70s (Miracle, Count On Me, With Your Love) and the hard rock phase in the late 70s/early 80s (Stranger, Wind of Change, Jane, Find Your Way Back). They dropped the "Jefferson" when they did "We Built This City".

This is not a power ballad. If anything, it's just a ballad. Slow-medium tempo pop song. Lame song and even worse movie. Please do their much better songs "Jane", "Stranger", "Wind of Change", "Find Your Way Back". And try some stuff from their earlier Adult Contemporary phase "Miracle", "Count On Me", "With Your Love".
