When you try to write a song to make fun of hyper-militarist, propaganda churning countries but its accidentally so satirical it becomes an actual good propaganda song

That's funny, because where I live, we've goverment so right winged, they wanted to post mortably domote a general, just because he was a leader during comunist period, yet still give money to the unwashed masses, hate middle class and destroy economy
@@twojstarypijany3182 The Starship trooper world isn't so much '"right winged' as it is a citizen state with all the militarism it implies. Regardless, it IS an effective state; even with the sacrifices involved compared to our current way of life.

This movie is so bad but also so incredible at the same time, I'm truly happy it exits, this song alone is one of the best things to have come out of American cinema in the past 20 years. Not because it's an amazing song, but because it's so damn perfect for the movie on so many levels. IT JUST WORKS.
I loved the first Starship Troopers movie, despised the second one. Seeing the third one - especially contrasted to the second one - was an absolute joy.
I must be the odd one out. I loved the first one, watched the third and thought it was the worst movie without exception I'd ever seen. As a consequence I never went back for the second sequel. (I'm only here because I was trying to remember if the second or third was the one I saw to warn others off it. This song is it's only redeeming feature.)
+Duck Duck Have you ever seen something and think "That fits SO WELL with something else I know"? Well, this song fits the Imperial Guard (Or Astra Militarum THANKS A LOT, GEEDUBS) because... 1. Martyrdom culture 2. Have you seen the movies? It's cardboard armor and staple guns (because they don't have T-shirts or flashlights) for everyone. 3. Huge death counts. Hence, 40k-related stuff. @@NefilimPL except in the book the book is completely different and the guns are that big because of the book they have power armor. They didn't have power armor until the max of the third movie because they ran out of budget on dropships.

Probably because the movies are based on a book that's neither satire nor propaganda. It's originally just a neutral look at an ideology, more or less part of a series together with books like The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress and Stranger In A Strange Land.

Eggdrasil Warthog The god crap did get annoying, but I like how they made a mockery of religion, and showed how it can (has, many times) become corrupted by governments to help control people.
You just know this guy was a master of propaganda when I can watch this and be inspired enough to start tearing up with pride for my species and also want to enlist in an army that doesn't actually exist (bonus points for making me still want to do it even knowing the Federation is super fascist)

But seriously, things like this prove that a strong charisma can lead to great things. A leader doesn't quite need to be a strong man (Though it's usually a good idea), if he is charismatic enough, men will fight to the very end under his command.
+Z. Schroeder Actually it is an oligarchy whose ruling cast is made up of volunteer soldiers. Basically if you choose to serve in the military you gain the rights of a citizen. Better than letting the rich or political elite who have never put their lives on the line running everything.
I agree Marshall. But on the other hand it means by and large goals are largely militaristic. With the economy largely going towards funding greater weapons of war.... One has to wonder what would happen if the Federation didn't have such a convenient common enemy.
it didn't fail. The point was to make it as propaganda as possible and have people get hyped up to give their life for a federation literally built on violence, imperialism and suppression of personal freedom. By watching the original movie a few times you understand, if you feel patriotic after seeing it, the movie done it's magic fooling you.
^It did fail. The director is a marxist and did not even bother to read the book at all because: ”I stopped after two chapters because it was so boring … It is really quite a bad book. I asked Ed Neumeier to tell me the story because I just couldn't read the thing. It's a very right-wing book.” He didn’t care to read because it sounded righ-wingish and then proceeded to try to make it ridiculous
Most satire flicks have a characters change and reflect. Starship Troopers does this in reverse. Which is what makes it great. They start of young and innocent. And are then corrupted by the system. Europeans understood it was about Fascism right away.

OMG, I've been looking for this song. I used to always sing it when I was 8 and 9. I didn't even remember the movie it came from. I just hummed the song to google today, and it redirected me here. This here is some nostalgia
FIrst time I saw this song in the movie, I laughed so hard I almost fell from my chair.. But it stuck in my head, so I searched it on RU-vid. After playing it for the 3rd time, it stopped being funny and ironic, and became a really awesome song! :)
This might be the most anti-Heinlein thing the Starship Troopers films came up with since Raczak shot one of his own men, but it makes the third movie worth watching. Along with the Mobile Infantry finally getting their Marauder suits.
FACT: the mobile infantry eventually becomes the imperial guard! the marauder project inspires the dreadnaughts. the need for effective medics has encouraged the abilities of the apothecary
Not to mention the real Federation (from the books) would have wiped the floor with these bugs, and probably the Imperium of Man, as well. If they wanted, they'd just glass everything as long as there is limited collateral damage.
@@Zachomara My man i have read the books aswell, but there is no way, that the federation would wipe the floor with the Imperium of Man. They would lose against the Imperial Navy with their highly destructive weaponry and sheer mass of ships and whilst they might be able to hold their ground for a while against the Imperial Guard they would eventually fall when the big guns like the titanlegions of the Adeptus Mechanicus, superheavy tanks (baneblade etc) or the astartes arrive. Not to mention the highly trained assasins, that among other things are capable of blowing your face of from an incredible distance, perfectly imitating your friends etc that will cause havoc and confusion in your command structure. And let´s just imagine for a moment, that they survive all of that, there are still the Legion of the Damned and Saint Celestine the Emperors bride to finish the job. And whilst they could glass a planet of the Imperium, the Imperium could order Exterminatus on the Worlds of the Federation avoiding a ground fight alltogether. For you shall not suffer a traitor to the Imperium to live. Please excuse the wall of text, but i feel that it is highly unlikely for any fantasy universe to wipe the floor with 40 k. Yes they might put up a fight,but i doubt that they have a real chance at winning.
There's one part that both Star Trek and the book versions of the Federation have that the Imperium doesn't. It's the ability to fight at or near FTL. That fact alone can cause massive damage. The Terran Federation in Starship Troopers, though, would probably hit the Imperium's hulking, slow ships like a hammer and retreat into FTL before they can even respond, through their FTL that the Imperium would not be able to pursue into due to the dependency on the Emperor's warp construct being the only way to go FTL (different system of FTL).
Imperial Starships regularly fight Tau vessels, which can do all that stuff, know how they win? They use the ships onboard Navigator {A sort of very powerful diviner psyker} to send scry they're position from 5 lightminutes out and send a barrage from farther than they can scan, the Federation from Starship Troopers has no chance because they have real world sensor tech LIDAR, RADAR, etc etc, the Star Trek Feds are much more soft science so they can get away with impossible sensor ranges and stuff like that.

For anyone wanting to get into starship troopers. The movies are awsome but they are based on books (so in the books you will find the most plot). All the movies + future starship troopers: Starship troopers 1977 Starship troopers 2 heros of the federation 2004 Starship troopers 3 marauder 2008 Starship troopers 4 invasion 2012 Starship troopers remastered (and/or upgrade) Unknown release date but it is confirmed on that it is being worked on. The first is honestly the best one, awsome acting, epic props and minimal animation (more real life props than animations) The second one was kind of weird to watch at first as i thought it was a spinoff, but it is however in the story (it is very low budget compared to the other ones) The third one is pretty much like the first one but with more animations. and marauders. The fourth is completely a animated movie, which may give some people headaches, but it was actually awesome! THe animations are basically at the same level BLUR STUDIOS (those who make Halo 4, Halo Wars, Halo 2 Anniversary cinematics). Also, the movies contains ALOT of propaganda, dont take it seriously (as it is not supposed to bet aken seriously). You may be offended as it very similar to nazi propaganda, hey even the director got critized by this.
I dont know why everyone is talking so good about the first part of marauder, after the first 20min, the movie was almost as bad as the second one, the beginning of marauder is very poorly filmed aswell ._. Its a shame what they did with all the potential the movie had .-.

I just bought this one today. I laughed my ass off at this song because I didn't expect it, especially the "Courage! Duty! Honor!" part after "it's a good day to die!" Both of those had me rolling on the floor laughing, and then the religious part? Ooooh man, did THAT get me going. Highly unexpected. Thumbs up for the humor if you see any in it!
This song and first and last 15 minutes of the movie was enjoyable. And some of the jokes. Across the federation, federal experts agree that: A: God exists after all, B: He's on our side, C: He wants us to win!
+ Daniel Appleton The book wasn't really fascist. The Terran Federation was militaristic and expansionist, but not really despotic or bigoted. They had free speech and religious tolerance. So calling them fascist is misleading.
