Man… I’m in the Tacoma area, I’m starting to acquire gear, finished my license and went out and got it. Now I’m trying to scout on OnX and I’m just so overwhelmed with all the private land in all these units. It seems like it’s almost impossible to go hunt on public land. I’m really excited for this series, I really want to get out this fall and winter. Thanks guys!

Great video! Just a heads up, I believe you need to get your first license in-store. Not sure if this is because I did the hybrid hunter's ed but I am unable to purchase my first license online since it doesn't have my license info in their systems. When attempting to it does say that after my purchasing my first license I will be able to purchase future one's online.

New hunters should start with small game first. Its what i did, and im thankful that i did. Heres why. The investment is very small compared to big game. A .22, or shotgun. No camo needed. Go hunt. Simple. You learn the woods while out hunting, thats a big deal. You start to recognize places where you see game. You learn the anatomy of animals that you field dress that translate to bigger game. If you dont like it, you dont waste a lot of money. However if you do,,, you can still small game hunt while saving up to make the transition. It will take a bit to build up unless you have money to blow. Start with a good freezer and ice cooler chest. Then move onto butchering equipment. You'll get more meat if you do it yourself. Get a meat grinder, vacume sealer, knife set, and a bone saw. Then start building your 3 seasons camo sets. Then a real hunting pack that has a load shelf. Mid range is a Mystery ranch pack. Then all the things that you will need to fill that pack to survive the woods for the duration of your hunt. Then in the off season go walk in the woods in the dark mornings and nights with a headlamp. To get yourself comfortable walking and being in the woods in the dark. Best times to hunt are early mornings before sun up, and last light, so either way your going to have to get used to being in the dark. Remember if you get a deer your most likely will be butchering it in the dark. Even of you shot it when it was still light out, it takes awhile to get it butchered up and packed up. If its a hot fall evening you need to get that meat outta their before it spoils. Also be on the watch for bears, cougars and other predators looking for a free meal while trying to get your deer butchered up and loaded out. If its your first time doing this it will take lot of time to do this. It wont be like on youtube. You dont have the skills or camera takes to make it go that fast. Remember most lilely you will be freaking dead tired, soaked to the bone, hungry, and past you point of giving a flying crows care about doing things like youve seen on a screen. If you are alone it wil be a brutal event. Unless if you got the luck of the gods and pop a deer 100 yards from where you entered in the woods and drag it out and bring it home. That RARELY ever happens.... So remember if you want to play with the big boys and girls its going to take a lot of effort, time and money.

I just completed the online component and passed my hunters ed course but now I’m required to attend a 4 hour Field Skills & Evaluation course before I receive my certificate and before I can purchase a license. I noticed this wasn’t covered in the video. Is this new or is this just a requirement because I didn’t do the in person courses?
