As young as two (2) year old, kids can help you start seeds indoors. As their fine and gross motor skills pick up, they can help you mix soil, fill pots, pick and plant seeds, water, and label each plant. As the days and weeks go on they are stimulated and excited by the growth of those tiny thin seedlings into mature viable plants ready to be transplanted into the garden.
Children are naturally curious about the world. They see you doing something and instinctually want to emulate your behaviors and interests. Gardening is a beautiful vessel to channel these interests. There are endless opportunities to learn about the awesome machinery of nature.
