D licence didn't jump for over 10 years. Got back into it, did a hop-and-pop from 5000 feet on a borrowed rig. No problems. That same weekend was doing head up FF 3 ways. It's like riding a bike.

Thanks for the informative video. I had a break from Skydiving for 10 years then got back into it. Each person is a bit different, I went through my emergency procedures before the jump but went out on my first jump doing a solo. I'm a D licence jumper heading onto my E Licence. Some say it's a bit like riding a bike. However I can't emphasise enough how much safety has to be involved. I've had a couple of long breaks from jumping over the years (8 years, 10 years and 5 years) ; family and work taking a precedence. I've been skydiving since 1981. I always look forward to getting back into the sport. I'm just heading back into it again after a break , just turned 59 years old and looking to getting back into some fun jumps. After my last break I got heavy into CRW and competition jumps and had no problems picking it up after a few training jumps. Safety is always key though. My instructors were happy with my transition back into the sport. - Keep up the good work. Cheers from Australia downunder.

Kudos to DJ and #TheRatingsCenter. DJ's wonderful wife Valerie taught my recurrency class in 2019, and DJ taught my canopy course in November of the same year. Thanks for getting me from faceplants to consistent standup landings in a very short time! Follow up: Accuracy coaching from TRC in January really paid off. I just won the intermediate class in the April sport accuracy competition. Merci Beaucoup!!! #SpacelandStrong

Thank you for the video that's really cool of you.always follow the guidelines of the Drop Zone the USPA and professionals if they tell me I have to do a reoccurrence jump that's what I'll do but I believe the wind tunnel is just fine if you're still with two instructors on your third AFF there's no reason to do one in two again. If it were laws of skydiving and not recommended I would think it would be a marketing scheme to keep people weekly and monthly paying money to drop zones.
@SkydiveVibes
@SkydiveVibes 4 года назад
Thanks for sharing! I also think that there is more to those recurrence jump than just the freefall portion. Landing is also a crucial part to get breifed when we return.

I know very little about the sport but I get USPA magazines each month through my membership which is really cool the main thing as a student and as a conscious student of what's going on my most likely malfunction is going to happen with the parachute it's not going to have anything to do with the instructors or the Free Fall(anything can happen)When I get to Jumping again I will post my progress on my channel.happy skydives and thanks to you too for the video I know it'll help all classes of people.

Yes we've been jumping since the beginning of the year except for a couple of months off because of the pandemic. But we were able to jump from the open cock pit in the Mullins Pitts Bi Plane during the state wide shut down due to Covid-19. But now as long as the weather is right the DZ at West Tennessee Skydiving is open every weekend. Great video as always. Blue Skies !!!

your videos are so helpful. im looking to go into AFF licensing but never skydived before. i love the thrill of exteme sports and do you recommend doing a tandem jump as a first timer or doing a first time AFF course that some schools offer for a little more in price. i know if i go tandem jumping i'll be hooked right away and go for more. should an absolute beginner go for a tandem jump first?
@SkydiveVibes
@SkydiveVibes 4 года назад
Yes I would do a tandem simply to live the experience and it is actually the first step to take to start. You can tell them that your goal is to become a skydiver and they will show you even more during the skydive. ;)

I did AFF Level 5 but couldn't finish AFF because of the winds. I am about to become uncurrent and I am considering doing a tandem jump to satisfy currency criteria. I called USPA but they couldn't provide a definitive answer whether a tandem jump would qualify. They said it was up to DZs.

Am D licensed, PRO rated also ex live parachute tester..... been about 15 years since last jump. The only way I’d return is to go to one of the DZs where a few old timers still jump and just get into a rig and go do one. Of course, I’d open pretty high and go out last, etc.
@SkydiveVibes
@SkydiveVibes 4 года назад
We got to make sure things haven't changed because opening high and exiting last has to be planned thoroughly and may not be possible depending on the DZ and activities...
@galt820
@galt820 4 года назад
15 years? That's a long time to be out of practice no matter how much experience you have. Sounds like your ego is getting in the way more than your commitment to safer skydiving. There are younger D licensed instructors that would be more than happy to do a recurrency jump without making you feel "unqualified".

GALT Gfy
@galt820
@galt820 4 года назад
@@ricks1314 with that kind of response I think its best you stay away from the DZ anyway. you clearly don't know current procedures and would be a safety hazard to yourself and others all while being an ass about it.
@ricks1314
@ricks1314 4 года назад
Let that be a lesson to others, y’all: if you think you remember your emergency procedures and could safely pull off a high altitude ‘hop and pop,’ it’s because you have a ‘big ego.’ Gfy again!! Besides I wasn’t considering going to your DZ anyhow, I’d go to one of my regular old DZ.... where I still know people who I used to jump with. What, are the ‘current procedures’ different? Is there not BOC or leg strap mounted pilot chutes, different ‘cut away’ handles? It’s obvious that you’re all about just the money.

This is now a year old - hopefully you will see this. I have not jumped in nearly 20 years. I came up through the Static Line route and it *used to be* each of the 4 routes of training had a different recurrency for each route. i.e.: Static Line: 3,000 foot hop-n-pop. So, being 20 years out of date, what is the current recurrency rules?
