Want to become a better fly caster? Put in the work! This is a short video showing a simple drill that will help those transitioning from trout to salt. mainly, but this trick helps add distance to any cast, and minimizes effort. I know Wes Seigler from when he started building reels here in the small town of Reedville va on the Chesapeake. I have been saltwater fly fishing since 95. Glad you got one

Nice tip. The dead stop makes use of all the bend you put in the rod. A mushy slow stop has the rod starting to straighten as soon as there is some deceleration.

Good Tip man. Hey, do you use a stripping basket? If you haven’t tried one yet man it’s an absolute game changer! Especially for casting from a beach like I imagine you’re doing for rooster fish. You will shoot your like 30% further. At least. Also your fly line will stay cleaner a lot longer. I can see that you are already an excellent caster. I like the stripping basket from Ahrex. It works awesome for me. All the best man!

Thanks Brotha! As far as the stripping basket for roosters, it would be a big help on the beach. Is there anything in your casting that you find to be challenging now?
