J when your house is finished and you turn it into a home, it will be fantastic and I will be happy for your and family. I've been watching since the start, when you started digging the first phase. Look how far you've come and what can be achieved with, vision, hard work, perseverance, faith and a lot of support. Big up to you and all those whose contribution is helping to turn your dream into reality. 👏🙌👍🤗🙏
I'm a bit concerned with how the tiles are being laid. I'm no authority on the matter but from hearing what my tiler and others have said when my house was being tiled, it appeared this tiler had omitted some of the steps. I foresee spaces underneath the tiles that will cause the tiles to lift up or crack when weight is applied or when it is stepped on. To prevent this, my understanding is that the undersides of the tiles should be completely smeared with thinset also so that no hollow spaces can be in between to cause a cracking or lifting. I could be wrong. I stand corrected but that's how my house was tiled and not even one has ever lifted or cracked for almost twenty years now. My tiler also used a soft, heavily padded tool looking like a hammer to gently pat the tiles one by one to e sure that they fit firmly into space.
In Jamaica they seem to have their way of tiling which is different from how I would do it so I will hold my tongue as the proof is in the pudding. He might get away with not back buttering the tiles based on the the soupy mixture. Spacers would help but a good eye can minimize the defects. I really love the tiles as they are similar to the ones I have in my place.
Spacers are needed 2 important things they do it’s insured the floor is level and make sure that the tile gets the right amount of grout and those tiles have a pattern on them them when laid correctly they make a unique pattern. Also those tiles will expand and start too break if they are too close to each other especially in the warm climate
J Bud mi a nuh tiler, this man nuh know whey him a do.Mi always see dem start from the middle of a room an work it around the middle. Im a prentice......

He should put some of the stuff on the back of the tile I am watching you from Toronto I just have my kitchen done..it was done like how he is doing it before and all the tiles broke 💔 because it was too hallowed under the bottom. Please go on line and see for yourself that guy 👦 not doing it right..sorry I am just saying because it happened to me..

There should be space between the tiles. When tiles get hot, they expand. Because there is no space at the joints, whenever the time get hot, they are going to start cracking as there is no space to eaxpand. The grouted areas between tiles would allow for expansion. Just be aware and be mindful. Love the progress overall.
Hail up Jbud, so far so good, people are commenting negitive about the tiler and the job is not finnish, l am sure you did your research and gave the best man the job, every trade men work different, stop bashing the tiler. Let us see how the job look when it's done. Bless up jbud all the best. Watching from Toronto, Canada.
Hmmm, J-Bud you should have got two tilers to work together. Coz this tiler is not sure of what he's doing 😮 If he is using the showel to even the spread of Thinset, why is it so thick? Also tiling starts from the centre of the room, and work your way out. The joints are also wrong. Bud, you asked the right question. Anyhow, lets hope for the best result ❤
Jason the house is coming along beautifully! Wow! After it's all said and done I hope you will be able to take a trip or two with Colaz and go out and see the world you deserve it!
